  1. If it weren't for him and Sweat being tight, I would have said for sure no. But this could be one where good intelligence and a good teammate and culture could be a good thing. I don't think Washington was a very healthy culture.
  2. Yeah - I think Bears offered Mooney 3yr deal worth 10M+ (it didn't say how much) before the '23 season. I don't know whether they offered him anything this year. They did try for Davis and with Poles things are quiet so who knows who they are talking to now. Samuel, former teammate of Moore, seems like a potential good fit. Ridley could be as well.
  3. If Joey Bosa gets cut - he could be a very interesting signing, if the Bears think they know how to solve his injury issues (or if it was more fluke the last 2 seasons)? When he's healthy he is a difference maker. Chase Young is also interesting. He hasn't been the player everyone thought he should be - but he still had 7.5 sacks this past year and is still very young (24 years old). Sweat knows him well - he clearly has some "Claypool" in him, but if he had an awakening this year and went into a good off-season he could be a very good buy-low candidate (not cheap - cause pass rusher(s) cost money).
  4. If Bears had a 2nd round pick - I would think it would be a legit option. But they don't. So unless Bengals will trade Tee HIggins to move up to 9 (and Bears get their pick - which I think is like 16th). Bears basically move down 7 spots but pick up and pay a wideout big money ($25M per year) to pair with Moore. Still have a FRP which they probably use on defense or oline (or maybe they move down a few more spots again and grab a center). Say move down to 23 or 24 - pick up a late 2nd / early 3rd - grab an olinemen or linemen with FRP and than draft a wideout with the other pick and than use our own draft pick on another olinemen (maybe someone we think could develop into an interio player).
  5. I expect Bears will get one of the 5 best wideouts. I also will admit - when you look at the big FA signings over last handful of years, more miss than not, so I don't mind the - be strategic on where you are taking your initial swing - than be measured and see what market is and find next wave of guys at your price and where you can where you think you have reduced risks. I presume Everett is one of those - reduced risks - team knows him very well. Not sure about Byrd - we have gotten a lot of people from Tennessee so maybe familiarity there.
  6. Is there anyone else who is going to get signed of value that will help Bears as it relates to this?
  7. Wasn't linked until he signed. Just watch - all of a sudden we are going to see the Bears trade Fields or make some other out of the blue signing. Very clear that no one really knows who Bears are talking to - but I do think understanding the position(s) of need does help at least indicate where they are likely spending time. This still goes back to - wideout is a MASSIVE need, so I expect they will double dip here - both a decent sized FA signing as well as use of a higher end draft pick on the position, with potential for them to double dip (ie one in FA and 2 in draft or vice versa I suppose). After wideout - I expect Poles will target value in the market more so than need. Say Connor Williams market isn't what it is - maybe that is where he makes a splash looking at upgrading C in the LT, knowing Bates can do it now, but it isn't a bad thing if Bates does well as he has positional versatility and can flex elsewhere.
  8. Yeah - hit me that they also spent time together with the Rams. I always think when you sign a guy you are familiar with / have more intimate knowledge of, it lowers the risk in free agency. Doesn't mean something can't happen - but the risk is less. Waldron clearly knows Everett and vice versa.
  9. Was Waldron in Seattle when Everett had his 1 year there?
  10. They needed another TE and this is a good depth move. I hope he can still be as productive as he has been cause he's been pretty solid. I think at this point - you can take Brockers off the list. I get he is a special talent - but unless they have him down as one of best TE's ever I don't think Bears are picking him at 9 (vs. a wideout, top dline, OT, or a trade down).
  11. And some guys count and some guys don't. So I know our safety signing doesn't count since he was released (vs. FA).
  12. I am guessing Samuel or Ridley are next shoe to drop and Bears name will be next to one of those two. Probably for more money than any of us would have preferred.
  13. A report out there that Bears were the runner up for Gabe Davis - who signed with Jags. He is from Florida so wanted to head back home - which is understandable. Also - this is a good time to remember the dangers and pitfalls of FA. When you look back 2 or 3 years at the top FA targets - the majority DID NOT live up to expectations. So while we all want all the big moves - its important to know the failure rate here is high - hence why hitting on draft picks and than using cap space to retain your own draft picks for a 2nd contract is so key.
  14. League is saying - we have watched the film - Chiefs were all over him as well. They are saying - Mooney was open a TON and the QB wasn't finding him. Maybe the league is wrong - we will see, but Mooney was highly productive until he wasn't the #1 option and than production shrunk completely. How Falcons can make it all work I don't know. I was quietly hoping we would get Mooney back for like 10M per year cause I always respect how he went about his work, but good for him and I wish him the best. Falcons have some weapons for Cousin(s) - they are actually going to be pretty good.
  15. I still think - if I were FIeld(s) - I would want to make sure I end up somewhere and get a real chance to play. If I don't - I'm not starting with the Bears (presuming they take Caleb), so worse case I stay in Chicago for a year as a backup and are signing a 1YR prove it deal which is a pretty big risk for him. IF he ends up in a bad situation - he could be benched real fast for some 4th rounder they take a shot at and than be in backup h*ll. So If I were Field(s), I'd have my agent working with a team - say it is Seattle or New England - and I'll agree to a 2YR 35M extension (so 17.5M per season) - guaranteed. So I work this year on my cheap rookie deal, than am agreeing to 2 discounted years in exchange for guaranteed money. Now Seattle or New England have motivation to make this move and give up capital - this isn't a 1YR proposition and if Field(s) is solid I'm getting a QB at a reasonable price (as far as QB's go) and am not hamstrung by the cap. If Field(s) isn't good - he's a backup and not a huge risk down the road but if he hits - you have him for 2 more years and in 1-2 years you will give him a huge extension. Field(s) knows he has general weatlth and a real chance to start - which is what it will take to ever get a big LT contract. If Field(s) ends up not being very good - at least he got that payment.
  16. Welp - they either keep him and he walks next year in FA for a comp pick (hopefully a 3rd round grade) or you keep him and trade him later in the off-season or even in-season to a team that has an injury to their QB. Or you maybe get a 4th rounder for him. God I hope it is something more but it seems like the NFL has spoken and none of us know what Poles asking price is - but teams around the league are choosing a lot of other players over Fields (and whatever Poles is asking for). Unless Vikings want him - and they are supposedly looking at Sam D'Arnold. Or we get surprised by a team who brings him in as a back-up or bridge guy.
  17. 4yr 180M - I think it was $100M guaranteed.
  18. Unbelievable how much money he just got paid.
  19. And Cousin's Agent has verified it - 4yr deal with Falcons.
  20. Vikings and Raiders seem like most logical options - I suppose Denver or Seattle are other wildcards along with New England or Giants.
  21. Dust settling but multiple reports popping up that Cousins will sign 4yr deal with Falcons. No word yet on $'s. Not a good look for Field(s) but now the dust is settled at QB.
  22. This seems for real. It seems like the Bears want to stay in Chicago and there is a willingness to do so. Maybe Arlington Heights was always just that - leverage. Personally I love the idea of them staying in Chicago. But I didn't care if they moved to Arlington Heights either - but staying in downtown is cooler in my opinion.
  23. I think he will just submit the standard medical report - which is all that happens at the combine, so I think this is more just him limiting the info and how widely it is shared.
