Iverson traded for Billups

The Pistons have reached a tentative agreement with the Nuggets to trade Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess in exchange for Allen Iverson.

That would solve the Nuggets' point guard problems and Iverson is clearly not happy in Denver. Neither player attended today's shootaround, and ESPN's Stephen A. Smith says the deal could be completed any minute. The big question is whether Iverson plays point guard or shooting guard in Detroit. Either way, he's going to gobble up a ton of guard minutes, which may not be great news for Rodney Stuckey and Rip Hamilton. Then again, some feel the move may have been made to clear the way for Stuckey to start. Iverson has been walking through the motions in Denver, so this news is not all that surprising. Nice trade for the Pistons?! Are you serious. Do you even watch basketball?

Iverson is the antithesis of what they need on the Pistons. Iverson is a ball hog, me first, discipline lacking street ball player. Sure, he's a great scorer. Of course, he's much better since the NBA became a joke and allowed the players to completely flout the rules (i.e. carrying, travelling, etc.).

Before Iverson the Pistons were rolling. With Iverson, they are pretty much a .500 team.

First of all, he's horrible for Rip Hamilton's game. Rip needs to come off screens and get the pass. Since passing in a structured offense isn't Iverson's strong suit (his assists are mostly a result of the fact that he always has the ball), there goes that aspect of the offense as being incredibly effective as it once was.

Oh, and he doesn't play a lick of defense other than the passing lane gambler route, completely screwing his teammates as he goes for the risky steals, thereby making the team defense weaker. This just in: The Pistons are good because they are a defensive team.

This trade was horrible for the Pistons. Meanwhile, the Nuggets are 12-3 with an actual traditional, pass-first point guard. And the funny thing is, Billups has a higher scoring average than Iverson this season (at this point), while working within the offense and not jacking up unnecessary shots left and right.
