Let's try this before drafting...

I totally agree. Resign Fuller, and Callahan. Then pick up Trumain Johnson or equal. Then resign Merideth and Wright ( Wright will flourish under Nagy). Pickup up Crabtree and John Brown (deep threat ) and then end up with a draft pick.

So Fuller

Callahan

Johnson?

So Wright

White

Merideth

Crabtree

Brown

Draft pick.

Also in FA. We bring back Houston on cheap contract.

Sign Junior Gazette( flourished in NO but failed in

Washington.) On the cheap, draft one high.

Oline only has one young major player, Andrew Norvell, a guard, will draft 2 OLinemen.

Cairo Santos K

Pat O'Donnell P

Kendall Wright WR

Donatelle Inman WR

FA

Allen Robinson WR,

It would nice to have them do what I want them to do but what I think they will do is not pay for the highest 2 Wrs, maybe 1. Robinson on as shown to be injury prone. I think they will only go so high on Landry, so I don't think they sign either of those.

I suspect they want speed and quickness so I suggest Brown and a reliable Crabtree for a go to guy and the will be well under the top WRs.i like the thought of Breeland. Personally I think they go with RRH and Bullard to fill the other DE spot and spend in other area of need. I agree with your FAs to keep.i think they keep Inman or Merideth but not both. Merideth has more upside but add some speed guys.

I doubt they would go after two of the biggest names WR, but would love that combination. Robinson's injury history is bone, so it is more fluke. He is a top 5 WR when healthy and that is with Bortles. The Bears should carefully look him over and if he passes medically, make him an offer. I will concede on Landry but behind him, I propose Jordan Matthews to work the slot.

Daquan Jones is a stout 3-4 end that is a force against the run. I still like Bullard and RRH, but think they still need another body for the rotation. Jones is my Akeem Hicks and ready to take his next big step.

I don't want Bellamy on the team in any capacity. I think we've all seen enough of him and his drops. I'd love to get both Robinson and Landry but I heard that Landry is looking for the same type of deal that Adams just signed with GB and I don't see us going there

I put Bellamy on a "highly consider" list, but not re-signed. He would only come back for ST if there is room. Statistically, Inman's targets/receptions are nearly identical.

As for Landry, I would love him working the middle of the field but would be happy adding Jordan Matthews as the slot also. Kendall Wright would be fine too.

Would love to have Landry he'd be a good slot/possession receiver and a good Red Zone target. I doubt we'd add both Landry and Robinson that'd be a big money on two players but at the same time it would be very beneficial to Trubisky. If I had to chose between Landry and Robinson I'd go with Landry. Crabtree would be a great add too, and between him and Cooper, Crabtree's been the more consistent/reliable WR. I don't see the Raiders letting Crabtree go though. Don't really want Martavis Bryant, or John Brown. Bryant is a head case, and Brown can't stay healthy and we already have enough of that on the roster.

Some other WR names that could be interesting.

Donte Moncrief - Colts (feel he's a little underrated)

DeAndre Hopkins - Texans (if they don't resign him)

Taylor Gabriel - Falcons (a bit underrated like Moncreif)

I have a feeling we will be active in FA particularly on the offensive side. Especially now that we have an offensive minded head coach who will be looking to improve that side of the ball. The good thing about Vic being back is he knows our defensive roster better than a new DC coming in so he may be able to pair down what he needs to augment our roster to continue to improve our D. A new DC who hasn't worked with our roster only has tape and limited interaction to evaluate need on that side of the ball. Fortunately we are in great shape cap wise that we can make some splashes for players we think can take us to the next level. I can't wait for FA and the Draft it will be interesting to say the least.

If it comes down to either or with Landry and Robinson I go Landry because of Robinson injury history. I think most agree with going after Landry. The question is going to be $. He's wanting davante Adams type deal. How many would be willing to go there.

Hopkins is not a free agent but he would only be the to pay a big contact.

I'm in on bringing back Fuller unless he is looking to break the bank and I say target one WR not with the team in FA and resign Wright and Meredith and make Bellamy either the last cut or 53rd player on the team. I'm still not comfortable with the comment one former player said about Bellamy after his much publicized disagreement with Tre McBride, that Bellamy goes after teammates girls.

I dunno why people are so keen on bringing back WRs. We had one of the worst receiving groups in the history of professional football.

If they determine they like someone, then fine, bring em back, maybe they feel that way about Inman, he could be like the #4 or something.

But we really need new guys. They were terrible.

Couple of thoughts. First thing, continuity. Yes there will be a new offensive scheme but Trubisky has been working with the current batch of WRs for most or part of last year. And of those, at least three (Meredith, Inman and Wright) have proven to be worthy receivers. IMHO

Second thought is we had a soradic passing game last year. Partly due to our QB not having a heck of a lot of experience. Saying ALL our receivers are garbage probably isn’t completely true. I wouldn’t think a complete overhaul is needed.

Draft one maybe two and pay one or two more through FA then let camp sort them out.

I saw a LOT of covered receivers and a lot of dropped balls. Continuity with poor performance is no benefit.

Let's see what happens. I'll be surprised if more than 2 of them stick around to the final roster on opening day.

When exactly did trubisky work with Meredith in games. Meredith got hurt during preseason at which point trubisky was still the 3rd QB. And only had inman for half the yr. And on a good squad inman is WR4/5.

Meredith and white are guaranteed to return. So going off what you just said trubisky will start next yr by throwing to virtually brand new receivers since Meredith had been hurt all yr prior to trubisky becoming the starter and well nobody knows anything about white really

It seems a bit pretentious of you to guarantee anything. Return maybe, but play? Let alone a full season. Of the 4-5 receivers discussed in the last few paragraphs who has performed the most in the last two years? Meredith would have an edge (only slightly over Inman) for his 2016 performance, but he will be returning from a pretty significant knee injury. And White? Well....you said it.

Trubisky was the 3rd QB? You mean to convince me they actually planned on playing Sanchez? The point about Meredith / Trubisky was more the continuity aspect. I’m as sure as you are that neither one interacted at any time last year. They held practices where I’m sure or at least certain they crossed paths at least once. Remember Trubisky was drafted to be the ‘future of the franchise’.

Please don’t tell me you’re one of those ‘the Qb can do no wrong’ types. Trubisky’s completion rate was just 59.6% and in watching many of his games, he was clearly off a fair share of times. Sure the receivers he had were not the best but I’d disagree they were the worst we’ve ever seen.

I saw a lot of covered receivers, and balls that hit their hands and were dropped. Of course Trubisky has growing to do, but Im not being colorful when I say that we had one of the worst WR groups of the last 30 years in the NFL. That's just true. The best one, Inman, would be a #4 at best on most teams.

I'm pretty sure this offensive staff sees this. Between the new HC and the spread offense OC, they will know WRs, and how to evaluate them. So we can let them be the judge of our disagreement. Im betting no more than 2 are left on opening day, and one of them will be White, unless he gets injured again in preseason. And he will be a #5 going into camp, just to see if he can achieve some of his potential, it surely wont be because of anything hes accomplished in the NFL. I would love for him to flourish, but it's a "prove it to me" situation at this point.

I could see 1 to 4 of the receivers returning - Meredith, Inman, Wright and White. I think Meredith is a given as he is a restricted FA and showed a ton of potential in 2016. He's back if he's healthy. Wirght developed a really good connection with Trubisky the last 4+ games of the season. He's back at the right price. Inman could come back on a cheap deal. White will we back but may not make it out of camp. He has to show something quickly.

Peace :dabears

Agreed. I would like to see Landry added plus a draft choice. Then maybe a guy like Prior for a 2nd tier signing.

I think it is hard to access what they look for in traits for W rs. I have thought fast or quickness was priority but not sure. I think Wright is in play but they may go for Wilson who played the slot in KC and is more familiar with Nagy and younger. White may ideally fit the profile but who knows what to expect out of him. He may be the surprise and thrive. Otherwise either Inman or Merideth but not both. I would say they bring in 2 FAs and draft one. Does anyone think Tanner Gentry may have more contributions under this regime?
