2017 Everyone Agrees Mock Draft

First of all, here's the link to 2016.

Our picks were as follows (before all the trading):

1.Ronnie Stanley, OT - Selected a few picks before Chicago - Still a need

2.Sua Cravens, ILB - Selected later in the 2nd, even after trades - Filled by Nick Kwiatkowski

3.Jayron Kearse, SS - Selected in the 7th, we were way off - Filled by Deon Bush & DHC

4.Bronson Kaufusi, DE - Selected early 3rd - Filled by Jonathan Bullard

5.KeiVarae Russell, CB - Selected mid 3rd - Filled by Deiondre Hall

6.Dak Prescott, QB - Selected late 4th <_>Still a need

6.Halapoulivaati Vaitai, OG - Selected late 5th - Filled by Cody Whitehair

6.Silverberry Mouhon, OLB - UDFA - Filled by Leonard Floyd

7.Glenn Gronkowski, TE - UDFA - Still a need

I think the reason people were so excited about this draft was that so many positional needs were filled. There weren't any "we don't even need that position"-picks, and for the most part it looked like the players picked matched our mutual agreement on team need. Overall a solid, not completely ridiculous draft. The biggest issue is Jayron Kearse, whose size, athleticism, potential, and family name had us drafting him higher than he went. It's worth noting, however, that maybe he deserved to go a little earlier, since as a 7th rounder he played all 16 games and started 1.

With that said, this year's "Everyone Agrees Mock" may be a little more difficult.

First things first, if you'd like to participate, do so by stating if you want a QB in the first or not. That will obviously be the driving point to this entire endeavor.

Just like last year, here are the rules:

-Please don't post your own mock. I'm going to scour this board over the last few weeks/months to write down comments/likes/dislikes/etc. to get a starting off point.

-There are no trades or FA considerations.

-I'll post the mock based on the aforementioned comments.

-Comment on what you like or dislike from the mock, and I'll update your restrictions as well as the draft.

Great idea to start this Jason and it was fun even looking back at last year's thread. You were clearly all over Dak from day one and while none of us know what he'd look like with the Bears (vs. that Cowboy line), I'd definitely feel better having taken a QB somewhere in last years draft (vs. completely ignoring it).

In terms of your first comment, I'm indifferent as to how we get a QB, but I'm a believer that we need to find our QB this year, whether via trade or the draft (and I'm open to picking one at 3 overall).

Right now we have 8 Y for QB RD1, 11 N for QB RD1, 2 Maybes for QB RD1, and potential voters I may have left out.

I'd rather hold final judgment until after the Senior Bowl and Combine but for now I'm still in on having a QB picked at #3 (Watson). If not at 3 and more value can be had by trading back in the 1st, and he's still available, we need to get Watson. Beyond that I feel the needs are CB and FS. I'd still like to have them consider a second QB (like Washington did a few years ago) in later rounds and the extreme needs are addressed first. Oh and I should mention the Bears should look at drafting OL (Tackle) in the early rounds. I would even say 1st only if its that animal from Alabama.

We are in position to get a great player. In my head I have a balance scale and as I ponder taking one player over another, I set each one on opposite ends of this scale to weigh. This scale measures the difference player A makes over player B. To me at this moment, still early, I have QB out weighing the rest and Deshaun Watson as my choice. I see the Bears as Superbowl contenders with a great QB vs a top 10 team with a great defender (Garrett, Allen, Adams, Hooker). 2-3 years down the road, we will be grasping for that QB like we did with Jay.

Round 2, I want the best defensive back CB or S and there should be excellent choices.

So are you saying you want QB in RD1 now? That didn't appear to be your preference in other threads, particularly a few where you said you liked CB in RD1, and wanted to wait on a QB like Falk.

.

I do like Falk, but he returned to school. Could I accept another QB in a later round, sure. To answer your question today, my first choice is Watson QB. I feel he would make a bigger difference towards winning over any of the players. After him, it is a toss up between Allen, Adams, and Booker.

Garett or Allen, its a no brainier if either of them are there.

If gone , I would take Adams/S.

It's early and tough to put this one together at this time. Kudos to Jason for all the work to read what we've been posting over the last few weeks and organizing it. It will be interesting to see how early predictions compare to a final draft version right before the draft.

I like what Pace has done his first two years. It's not all perfect but I see the arrow and trend pointing up. With that, we're still 2 more off-seasons away from being a solid playoff competitor. There are two paths to take to NFL excellence: Defense or Offense. Offense naturally has to have the franchise QB, the hardest position in all of sports to fill. Defense on the other hand requires a few great players, easier to find versus a QB, across the 3 levels of the D. The talent in this draft is laid out perfectly to enable the Bears to build a great defense. We can fill DE with Allen and still get a solid CB/S in Rd 2. LIkewise we could draft future Pro Bowl Safeties in either Adams or Hooker and immediately convert our DBs to at least an average ranking, if not better. We could still find a solid DE in Rd 2. QB becomes job 1 in 2018.

For now I'll stand by my first preference to fix the QB position and draft Trubisky at #3 if he's there. I still feel there is something good to the way he plays the game and he hasn't come close to his potential. I watched the bowl game against Stanford and how he handled all the pressure in the pocket from Thomas was outstanding. There were a couple throws on the picks that weren't ideal but I think those are things he can learn on late reads as he gains more experience. I accept that he will not make the Bears a better team in 2017.

If Trubisky is not there then take the 2 year approach and build a great defense. I start with Adams, more of a sure thing than Hooker, and his versatility and leadership across the secondary is a windfall for the needs of this rebuilding team. I'm not sold on Allen as others are so I think we can get a good prospect at DT/DE in Rd 2 in someone like Wormley or Watkins. Let Hicks and Goldman be the DT stars.

Jason... you want first preference so it's QB Trubisky at #3.

Thanks for doing this jason! Threads like this are what really makes this board fun!

You have my preferences down correctly. At the moment, I have a slight lean on thinking the Bears will go for Trubisky... Not that I necessarily want him over others...but just a feeling.

Thanks for doing this. I agree with your characterization of my preference. I will state that while I am not currently enamored of any of the QB at #3, I can't say I'm totally against it and someone could knock my socks off in the workouts, though I don't see this happening.

My current preference is:

S, OT, QB, CB, TE, DL, WR, K

So, just to be clear, I'm a little confused on your stance as well. You were definitely QB RD1 in at least two other threads. Are you saying QB in RD1 is a No from you now? And you're on board with S in RD1?

Thanks for doing this Jason. You pretty much have me legged correctly.

Yes QB at number three. Ideally the first qb of the board. Preferably Watson.

No to a safety at three.

Cb needs to be high on our list. Probably early and late.

OT should be high. I'd prefer a quality starter in FA.

S is a big hole. We need fast athletes in our back end.

I feel like we need a wide receiver asap.

Y'all should take a close look at both of the Florida cornerbacks.

Jason, yes, I'm undecided, but I just don't see a great QB available with the no. 3. Let's grab a great DE, S or CB then get a QB in RD 2 or more. With the 3rd pick and this crop, I just don't feel good about QB.

Jason I have recently said that I would prefer the Bears to take the BPA at 3 and trade back into the first and take one of the QB prospects whoever is the highest rated at wherever draft position they can get back in at. I like the idea of Kizer because I've heard rumors that Kizer's HC held him back and made him leave early. If this can't happen I'm coming around to a stud CB in round 2. After watching the East West Shrine Game I like this kid out of UCLA named Fabian Moreau 6-0 205. Some scouts have him rated mid round but both Daniel Jeremiah and Mike Mayock have him rated with a 2nd round grade and he looked the part.

So BPA at 3 and attempt to trade back in to rd 1 for a QB. Plan B Allen at 3 and Moreau at 35-36?

Updated to 9 Y, 12 N for QB RD1. Lemon broke the possible tie, and Lucky's vote - whenever it comes - won't make a difference. The Bears are going BPA in the 1st round. For the purposes of this mock exercise, we will assume the draft starts as such:

1. Cleveland - Myles Garrett

2. SF - QB

Now it's time to decide which player/position is the BPA at this point. Right now I believe it's either Allen, Hooker, Adams, or potentially a CB. I'm going to bold this with what I believe your choice is. Correct me if I am wrong.

Unless someone changes my read on their opinion, right now it looks like 7 for Allen, 5 for FS, 4 for CB.

Adam - RD1 QB=YYMN, No Trubisky, Needs: QB/LT then CB/S, Garrett/Allen RD1, (S,OT,QB,CB,TE,DL,WR,K)

Ashkum - RD1 QB=NYY, Deshaun, O>D, Kevin King RD4, Julie'n Davenport RD4, Chad Wheeler RD3/RD4 (multiple OTs), CB RD1, Needs: CB/QB

AZ54 - RD1 QB=YYM, Trubisky1/Kizer2, No Watson, D>O, Needs: QB/Safety, Adams>Hooker/Peppers, Julie'n Davenport after RD3, QB #1 need, CB #2 need

Bears4Ever - RD1 QB=N, RD1 S, RD2 QB

Boston Boxer - RD1 QB=NN, Garrett/Allen then Peppers/FS,

Bowlingtwig - RD1 QB=MM/NNN, Needs: CB/LT, Need early RD 2ndary, D>O,

Adam - RD1 QB=YYMN, No Trubisky, Needs: QB/LT then CB/S, Garrett/Allen RD1, (S,OT,QB,CB,TE,DL,WR,K)

first of all thanks for doing this

I would love to take Allen here, but think Adams is going to be the playmaker we need and that will help the defense out more.

I still think Bullard turns into a good player and C. Washington has been playing better at the end of the year. So I would draft a player like Isaac Rochell/DE/ from ND in the fourth round and roll with what we have. 6-3 and 290 with the same speed as Allen.

If you keeping track, I was rooting for Allen but have changed my mind to Adams. I heard Matt Bowen on the SCORE and he made a lot of sense when talking about drafting Adams.

I don't know how it fits in for me, but I don't like the dlineman and prefer the safeties (if we don't go QB). That said, given there are two safeties I'd love to have, I wouldn't be a big fan of taking the safety @ 3 and would prefer trading down to a team looking at those dlineman. Although I know the mock doesn't work that way. If we stay where we are at (and aren't taking QB), I think I go safety, but wouldn't be upset with Garrett / Allen.

Updated to 10 Y, 12 N for QB RD1. Lucky chimed in, but to no avail. The Bears are going BPA in the 1st round. For the purposes of this mock exercise, we will assume the draft starts as such:

DBDB, like many, reluctantly chooses FS at #3. Current status: 7 for Allen, 6 for FS, 4 for CB.
