This week is a short one with the Bears playing Sat afternoon.

Here's the Tue practice injury report. We may be getting some players back with Goldman, McPhee, and Amos starting to practice in a limited manner. On the flipside we added Shaheen and Kendall Wright but neither appears to be serious.

Detroit has some concerns on the Oline.

Detroit 27-Chicago 17

I don't trust Low-Gains. All the play-action passing and moving pockets from last game were too obviously successful for him to stick with it. He gets cute and changes things up, to the detriment of the team.

Pathetic how we as true Bear fans have reached the point of not giving a F#$k when they are playing. Just a shame for the flagship franchise of the league. George Halas is the reason there is a league today. Who cares anymore? No one that I can see. I just can't fathom folks that dump ANY thought of historical perspective. This is where we are today-- no idea where we came from, no idea who we really are, so, no idea what we want/expect/dream for in the future. And, it is much broader than a great franchise, it is us as people of a great country. (Yeah, I got on a soap box, so gut me)

We had first and what, 15, and Logains calls some dumb QB keeper? This coaching staff is NOT helping the development of Trubiscy, let alone trying to win games. I'm sick with the crap planning that is obvious game to game. Any business that wants results would have moved on from the mind-boggling staff that we have. Please, make the changes that we know need to be made.

Easiest way to define the game, abortion. It was hard to watch.

It is beyond comprehension why Fox still has a job. He is the worst coach in the league. The game was riddled with penalties, mistakes, and a brutal game plan. Loggains worst OC in league and it is not even close.

Trubisky took a step back today. He flashed some good throws but man those INTs were bad. The red zone one was particularly ugly.

Penalty on long Cohen return, not going for it on 4th and 1, penalties, and Trubisky's INTs were the difference.

Loggains is killing this team and Fox sticking with him is the main reason he should go.

Trubisky is going to have bad games and this was one of them. His second interception was a killer. The main point is he needs to learn from them. I am glad he is getting the experience this year.

Finally, I can't believe the # of injuries we are dealing with. It is staggering.

Peace :dabears

It's so bad I didn't even realize the game was today until the start of the 2nd quarter.

-Multiple brutal penalties from the OL

-No respect for the passing game and it wasn't exploited. Michael Irvin butchered Fox and Low-Gains at half.

-Check down city for Trubisky. It felt like a Shoop nightmare.

-Poor run blocking as well.

-Stupid penalty on the long return. Third week in a row some idiot gets a Cohen play called back? This is starting to feel like Hester.

It's gutless football. 4th and 1 and Fox punts?! WTF was that?

Bright spots:

-Eddie Jackson. He has the "It Factor" like Mike Brown did. He's just always around the ball. I wish he would have punched the long pass away.

-Akiem Hicks. One of the best DLinemen in the NFL. Very underrated what he's doing.

Also, Kendall Wright needs to be in the concussion protocol or drug testing system if he thinks this team doesn't need receivers. On Trubisky's fourth quarter INT in the EZ, everybody was blanketed. Except maybe Wright, and he was probably the 4th or 5th read. He's really overvaluing his comrades. He's the only legit WR on the roster.

I'm with you on Eddie Jackson today. Many people focus on the turnovers he's had but I think this was by far his best game as a Bear. It was very encouraging to his growth in both coverage and run support. We may have found our new leader in the secondary.

Nobody here seems to like Amos (I do at SS) but I feel like we missed him on many of the run fits today.

---

Trubisky laid an egg but this was bound to happen. Team relied on him heavily today. For all those complainers about run-run-pass well today we got pass-run-pass and it didn't work the first two series. There was a bit of talk before the game they were going to open things up a bit for Trubisky and I have no problem with that at all. That's because after last week I think he's ready for it at this point in the season. Do this in his first four outings and we might have seen 3 INTs in the first half. He needs this experience and we've seen a trend where he learns from his mistakes. This will only help him improve during the offseason and there are still some issues with throwing mechanics.

Of course I don't like any of the INTs and I wanted to win this game today. Yet there were signs of growth outside that. We saw him effectively use a hard count to get a couple offsides penalties, for the first time that I recall. With the in-game Oline changes he maintained his composure and still kept the offense moving forward in the 2nd half. That's a leadership aspect that I think will serve him well down the road. He was clearly pushing the ball downfield this game and it paid off quite a few times including a 3rd and 18 late in the game. It's in a bits and pieces but I still feel he's improving and I'm looking forward to seeing how he responds in the next game.

This is from Greg Gabriel's Twitter. If this is true, it shows how broken the Bears are and if Loggains believes this, he needs to find the nearest mental hospital.

"Was told weeks ago that Loggains believed and was telling people that he was going to be Bears HC in ‘18. What a dreamer, couldn’t be HC of a HS JV team"

This game was a microcosm of our season. We had a rookie QB who needed game experience and along the way there will be ups and downs. I thought Trubisky played well and although the interceptions hurt us you can clearly see he has the physical and mental tools to play the position. Whether he justifies the draft position only time will tell. I listened to Bill Polian on Waddle and Silvy’s podcast this week and he feels the media and fans expectations for Trubisky are crazy but felt he has done well and should be significantly better next year.

Injuries are killing us. I don’t know if it’s the Bears or a league wide problem caused by the collective bargaining policy meaning the players train differently now. It might be our roster isn’t in a position to absorb these injuries and this may be an experience issue more than a talent problem due to the roster being so young.

I still am unsure if a different coaching staff would have made much of a difference this year and I hope that Pace know what he is doing because he needs to sit down evaluate everything before deciding what needs to be done. We shouldn’t just move on from Fox this is what the media and fans are crying out for this needs to be a rational informed choice because changing coaches could have a major impact on our roster and offensive and defensive schemes.

Injuries is not an excuse but they have the mort lost time in the league for starters the last two years and it matters. Also the penalties are killing us. They just kill drives or TDs that Cohen gets. He has had more big plays called back than he has made. Pace has developed a core but has did well drafting but not very good at FAgency. The only good thing is he has front loaded contracts that allow us to cut players that dont pan out.

So from a positive note, we have several building blocks going forward.

Tribusky

Shaheen

Sims

Howard

Cohen

Merideth

Long (injuries beside)

Whitehair

Goldman ( barring injuries)

Hicks

Bullard

RRH

Trevathan (when not injured)

Floyd

Calahan

Jackson

I think this will be our core, and as much as I wanted us to see us win, losing gets us back to the top 5 giving us the chance to trade back and grab some extra picks.

So I think if we grab a few WRs and a CB in FAgency and draft a couple of OTs and pass rushers in the draft, next year could be a LARams type of a turn around. ( at least 8-8 lookd doable)

Having said all of this, the most important asset will be getting a good coach.

Outside of the long prayer to Jones, the Lions didn't do too much on offense. They only scored 20 and were gift wrapped a few INTs. We also sustained their drives with a constant flow of penalties on 3rd down.

On defense, if Slay is not spying the QB, he doesn't get either of those INTs. One was an overthrow to the sidelines that is rarely intercepted. On the last one, it looks like it was a miscommunication between Trubisky and Brown which led to the ball going right into Slay's chest. On the Red Zone INT, Trubisky was forcing a ball into a tight window and must not have seen the LB dropping into coverage (a rookie mistake).

I just don't understand what players are thinking on special teams with the penalties, especially with blocks in the back. This is also a case where we get a penalty away from the play where the holding would have no bearing on the play.

The injuries are a killer. Making it harder and harder for me to watch. I watched the 2nd and 3rd quarters as I was out of town with the fiancee. How in the world trubisky has any confidence in that oline is beyond me with everyone getting hurt and constant moving around I can't even keep track of who is playing where anymore. The penalties just show how badly coached these players are. It's straight indictment on the coaches. The play calling was ridiculous again. Especially not going for it on that 4th and 6 inches. The other thing is where in the world is inman. 2 straight games and he's not even heard of now. It's nice to see wright finally catching some confidence with trubisky

Coaching has been bad, but part of the issue with the penalties can be attributed to the musical chairs we've been playing on the OL. It takes an OL time together to gel and really work together well. When the line is constantly being shuffled for whatever reason you lose continuity which I do think effects the line's overall discipline, and definitely lowers it's effectiveness. As a lineman when the guy next to you or on either side of you changes a lot, it makes you have to think more than just play cause you haven't developed a trust or familiarity. It makes it more a line 5 individuals rather than a unit of 5 players. It effects your focus at leas on some level. I think this has played a part in issues with dumb penalties on our line. Not saying it's a large part because we do have repeat offenders who are frequently killing drives. And coaching does make a difference too as we have team wide discipline issues that are killing this team. One of the things that Pace must try to fix is stabilizing the offensive line. If our offense is going to find consistent success it has to start up front.

When I was reading the athletic today I found a very interesting statistic. Since fox arrived the team has committed at least 10 penalties (accepted that is) a whopping 9 times. Which is equal to 20% of his tenure here. In comparison to lovie he was still high during his time here but it was down around 15% of all games. We are seeing a trend during his tenure as coach. Now this can also be blamed on the gm for not providing the players and he's been here the same amount of time so it goes on both. Just a really ugly stat all together of how undisciplined this team is each and every week. There is nothing consistent about this team except bad undisciplined play
