With wins the last two weeks, we are now in 13th for the 2015 draft. Interestingly, we have the 9th hardest schedule this season and only 3 teams in the top 10 of the SoS have a winning record.

1. OAK 1-10

2. JAX 1-10

3. TEN 2-9

4. NYJ 2-8*

5. TB 2-9

6. WAS 3-8

7. NYG 3-8

8. CAR 3-7-1

9. MIN 4-7

10. STL 4-7

11. ATL 4-7

12. HOU 5-6

13. CHI 5-6

14. BUF 5-5*

15. MIA 6-5

16. BAL 6-4*

2 weeks ago we were 8th, I think.... Its slowly moving back in the draft order. I just know the ending to this. The Bears will win enough games to be 1 or 2 games out of the playoffs, draft somewhere in the 15 to 20 range.

As the years go by, I have just grown tired of being OK. Its one of the reason I wanted Lovie gone, I'll give it to him that he is a good coach. I just didn't see him taking us to the next level. The JA Lovie team just couldn't get it done.

JA has left Emery with a shit roster, its needs youth and talent. Drafting middle of the round or late in the rounds makes that harder to do. I will say I like the 14th pick Fuller. If SMC turns out to be a decent LB then he did ok with his first draft pick.

When it comes to drafting, you have to hit on the first 3 rounds every year. Then hope to hit a homerun with a late round pick every once in awhile.

Emerys first draft

SMC- why they drafted a 3-4 LB to play DE blew my mind, they finally moved him to LB, this year he has been hurt off and on, hope he finishes strong

Jeffery- Home Run!!!

Hardin- Bust

2nd draft

Fuller- Home Run

Ego- still to early

Sutton - still to early.... I do hope that these two DT pan out, it would help with the long term in regards to the Dline

Im all for the Bears winning every game possible, its just so hard to root when you are already see the writing on the wall.

You skipped an entire year. This is Emery's 3rd year, Trestman's 2nd.

2013 looks pretty good, with all 6 still on the roster, and most contributing:

Kyle Long

Jonathan Bostic

Khaseem Greene

Jordan Mills

Cornelius Washington

Marquess Wilson

I don't know what Emery was smoking in 2012, before and after Jeffery he whiffed:

SMC

Alshon Jeffery

Brandon Hardin

Evan Rodriguez

Isaiah Frey

Greg McCoy

In 2014, he hit a HR with Fuller, and I believe made some safe picks with the next 5, but O'Donnell has been a huge disappointment considering we used a draft pick on a Punter and the guy we cut (Tress Way) leads the NFL in punting. Go figure.

Kyle Fuller

Ego Ferguson

Will Sutton

Ka'Deem Carey

Brock Vereen

David Fales

Pat O'Donnell

Charles Leno

If he can stay healthy I think he's a HR. We'll have to see on that. He seems to get injured a lot. Not something you can typically project as a GM, however.

Did he have a history of injuries in college? That would be the only case. Hardin had injuries problems and couldn't stay healthy. Fuller's knee injury doesn't seem to be linked to any pre-existing condition.

If these guys were available, who should the Bears choose? To help with that process, here is a list of possible 2nd/3rd RD prospects we can nab too. Sure it's early, but always fun too

Round 1:

1. Landon Collins S Alabama:Big hard hitting SS, covers side line to side line.

2. Gerod Holliman S Louisville: CB converted to S and replaced Pryor. Holliman leads NCAA in INTs. Size/Speed/Instincts

3. Marcus Peters CB Washington: Shut down corner, fiery attitude. Paired w Fuller our CBs will be locked for years.

4. Dante Fowler DE Florida: Solid DE that can get to the QB

5. Brandon Scherff OT Iowa: OLT that can step in an be a probowl OLG next to Bushrod.

6. Benardrick McKinney ILB Miss St: Big (6-4), fast, athletic LB that has the tools to possibly be the next big LB in Chicago.

Round 2:

Alex Carter CB Stanford, Ronald Darby CB FSU, Cody Prewitt FS Ole Miss, Derron Smith FS Fresno St, Erik Kendricks ILB, Markus Golden DE Mizz, Shilique Calhoun DE Mich St. , Ty Sambrailo T Colo St, Jake Fisher T Oregon,

Round 3:

Kurtis Drummond S Mich St, Josh Shaw CB USC, AJ Johnson ILB Tenn, Hronis Grasu C Oregon St, Tre Jackson G FSU Reese Dismukes C Auburn...

I'm going with: Landon Collins S, Erik Kendricks ILB, and Josh Shaw CB because Collins fills the a void left vacant for a decade. Kendricks plays at a high energy and makes plays, and Shaw has 1st RD talent/size/speed but was suspended for lying about an ankle injury which questions his character.

As for passing on a pass rushing D lineman, we invested heavy there last year. At DE, Houston, Young and Allen are under contract yet. Washington is starting to show some ability too. DT- I would re-sign Paea who is showing flashes of his ability, Ratliff is older but still under contract and then Ferguson/Sutton are there to develop/rotate.

We really need an impact Safety if we can't get a franchise MLB. We have put so much into the D-Line in the last draft and Free Agency, that I would rather concentrate on the Defensive Backfield. Maybe S, CB, and OL in our first three picks.

Landon Collins is gonna get a lot of mentions around these parts, but give me Holliman.

I agree with Adam, give me a S, CB, OT in the first 3 rounds.

Depending on how Louis-Jean and C. Jones play down the stretch we could see CB become less of a need and LB become more of a need.

SCS, you and I seem to agree on a lot of players as I've been touting Holliman on another board for a month or so now. He is now popping up in mocks either in RD's 1 or 2. I also meant to add in this list Shaq Thomson if we think he can play MLB. If he projects as WLB, I think we should pass as Bostic, Jones, and Greene seem like WLB projects themselves.

Yeah, as long as we draft to the value of our slot, I really don't care what order we go in. Take the best available of S, CB, OL in the first, then choose between the 2 remaining needs in the 2nd. For the 3rd, you could probably extend what positions we look at to LB, TE, and WR.

Looking at our remaining schedule, as MadLith pointed out, we will probably lose our next 4 games and win against MIN to end at 6-10. If we do that, we should pick between 8th-10th. 7-9 will probably get us from 11th-14th, and 8-8 will get us 15th-19th. So even with a miracle win against DET, NO, or DAL, we will probably finish no better than 7-9. That gives us a top 15 pick, a 2nd round pick under 50, and a 3rd pick around 80.

An interesting note that Emery is one of two NFL GMs to draft a Pro Bowler in the last 2 drafts (2012 and 2013). Minnesota has 3 (Kalil, Patterson, and Walsh). No other team has had more than 1x Pro Bowler drafted in those two drafts. Interestingly, Mosley (BAL), Martin (DAL), Barr (MIN), Evans (TB), and Watkins (BUF) all were drafted in the first, and Mosley and Martin were selected after Fuller in 2014. That would give MIN 4x Pro Bowlers in the last 3 years, wow.

He is a sophomore can he be in this draft?

At this point I'd prefer to take the true ballhawk FS Holliman. Ballhawking FS are great to have especially in a pass happy league. Then I went and watched his 3 INT game against Boston College

http://draftbreakdown.com/video/gerod-holl...n-college-2014/

Now I wouldn't draft him until the middle rounds. He's soft, not a football player, takes casual angles on tackles, often doesn't hustle in pursuit. I can forgive some of the bad coverage lapses he had that gave up a couple TDs because he doesn't have a lot of experience. He does not like to hit and this is at the college level, can't imagine how he'll hold up in the NFL. If he were elite athletically then some of that can be overlooked but I don't see anything that says he's in that category.

Collins might not be as fluid in coverage but he's still good at it (nice one-handed INT) and he's the better football player IMO. He is far more physical than Holliman and more prepared to tackle a RB in the hole or in space than Collins. Plus he'll hit a WR who is going after a catch.

1. OAK 1-11

2. JAX 2-10

3. TEN 2-10

4. NYJ 2-10*

5. TB 2-10

6. WAS 3-9

7. NYG 3-9

8. CAR 3-8-1

9. NO 5-7

10. STL 5-7

11. MIN 5-7

12. CHI 5-7

13. HOU 6-6

An interesting note assuming Miami wins tonight, no teams will have 4 wins, and only Houston will have 6. This pretty much locks us into picks 9-12 as CAR, WAS, or NYG would have to win 3 out of 4 just to reach 6 wins (and we have tougher SoS than all of them anyway). Houston has the easiest remaining schedule, so I figure they will end with 8-9 wins. So that essentially leaves STL, MIN, and the loser between ATL and NO. NO has a super easy schedule and will end up with at least 8 wins to win their division.

#9 MIN - NYJ, @DET, @MIA, CHI = 6-10 (win against MIA)

#10 CHI - DAL, DET, NO, @MIN = 6-10 (win against MIN)

#11 ATL - @GB, PIT, @NO, CAR = 7-9 (wins against PIT, CAR)

#12 STL - @WAS, ARZ, NYG, @SEA = 7-9 (wins against WAS, NYG)

Even with 2x wins, we really won't do any worse than #12. So 9 to 12th it is.
