This is not just happening to the Bears, there are already more ACL tears this offseason than last year and a whole bunch of other injuries. Most teams have lost 1-2 starters. So the final cuts are going to be competive as teams pick up other teams cuts.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's as simple as just saying "Well, lets get the run game going." This is where losing Kevin White really hurts. The Bears can try to get the run game established all they want, but as long as teams don't fear their speed threats on the outside, they are just going to stack 8 or 9 guys in the box and force some of these receivers to beat them deep.

It's pretty much the same problem as last year, except much worse since Brandon Marshall is no longer there to be a security blanket.

Gotta agree. Our ability to stretch the field means everything.

I disagree, I think their problem with establishing the run game last year was the offensive line. The Bears seemed to have the second most injuries to a the line, next to the Falcons. The Bears have had some questionable starters in Garza and Mills, and their depth isn't deep. If I remember the Bears started somewhere between 7 and 9 different offensive line lineups.

The deep threat wasn't the problem. It's the same problem we have had since Forte became a Bear, the offensive line couldn't make a hole.

Simple statement does not in itself imply that the action is easily done. But given our remaining talent at WR and the talent on our Oline which leans toward better run blocking than pass protection.

Let me phrase it another way: I think it makes more sense to focus the 1st string offense on the run game in the 3rd preseason game since more of those pieces are in place rather than focusing on the passing game with some players who likely won't be on the final roster.
