  1. Past hour
  2. For Goff, in his first year in Johnson's offense seemed to flip the script after Game 8. Through 8 games, DET was 2-6 and he had 14 TD and 7 INT. In the last 9, they went 7-2 and he had 15 TD and 0 INT. Something clearly clicked for him. His worst QB Rating in the final 9 games was 83.0 which would've been better than 5 of his first 8 games. He had 4 games below 60% Comp in his first 8, then only 1 in his last 9, and that game was 59.5%, in a game where he had 355 yards, 3 TDs, and 0 INT, so the lower Comp% was meaningless. So hopefully we are near that point with Caleb.
  3. It was noted when he was drafted and again this year in preseason that Caleb has problems with his cadence when calling plays. I'm reasonably sure that this is just one of the reasons for our ongoing issues with presnap penalties.

    Caleb...

To put it simply, I honestly do not remember PHX calling you out by name. (That being said, if he responds to another person's post with an excessively long response, I do not always read the entire response.) He has made comments about those who disagree with him about Caleb's progress. Those who were supporting Fields. Those who would not listen to reason when he gave his point of view. But those people would include not just you but several other posters, including me. If he had called you out by name, I would have raised the same yellow flag. I didn't catch whether he did, and for the sake of peace and tranquility on the forum, so that we can have a friendly discussion about our Chicago Bears, I hope we can move on.
  5. They have went all in on Caleb, they will evaluate him at the end of the year but his progress will go along way on what BJ thinks he future will be. Until the penalties get limited its hard to judge the offense or Caleb. I heard a podcast where they were talking about Caleb having an uneven play calling that was causing some of the presnap penalties. They sighted that because it was several players doing it and not just Theo. Does anyone else think that? I havent notice an irregularity? We have had a lot of injuries and to many penalties that has contributed to the win loss record. BJ just needs to keep pushing for perfection to get the best out of the roster we have. The judgments come at the end of the year on Caleb and the rest of the roster. I keep seeing a bunch of trade options pundits are putting out there. Are we really going to trade for someone without knowing if we can challenge for a playoff stop at 4-3 ? Had we won last week, I think the situation would be different, but our future drafts are where we are going to boost weaknesses and trades right now would limit that. Now getting an addition like Johnson is what I see us doing, he has talent but have to check his problem child attitude at the door. Can he do that? We will see.

  7. I pushed an (ignore button) to stop the arguing and I assumed he did the same to me. Then someone told me he has mentioned me a few times. So he apparently still sees my responses. I just wanted to reminded him, I am not reacting to his opinions because I concede to them. Its an ego thing, my opinions are limited and he still gets to say whatever he wants.
  8. Feels like an inflection point game for Caleb today. If he doesn't play well, and the team loses, it wouldn't surprise me if we start hearing rumblings of a potential QB change on the horizon. The Bears can't lose back to back weeks to a Ravens team without Lamar Jackson and an old ass Joe Flacco with the worst defense in football, who, by the way, doesn't have Trey Hendrickson out there today. Can't happen to a team with real playoff aspirations.
  9. Good to hear Stevenson is in. Although not top shelf he’s a functional CB who has flashy plays. And if this is the first start for Gardner Johnson opposite, it’ll be interesting. Big bummer Swift is out. Did they trade away Roschon Johnson or is he so deep in the dog house we’ll never see him play again? Edit: checked my own work and see he is out for a back injury. Why do I get this feeling RoJo won’t be with the team much longer?
  10. Yesterday
  11. Bears Wire says he is activated for the game. You got your wish. Hope he and KM light it up.
  12. I will be curious if the Bears bring RB Brittain Brown up from the practice squad for the game against Cincinnati. The guy looked good in preseason and would be a good #2 behind KM. I've read reports speculating he will suit up. Fingers crossed.
  13. Last week
  14. I suspect Monangai gets (20) carries, DJ (6) . Caleb (5). and Homer the rest. I also think this is a breakout game for Loveland. Bengals have a terrible run defense so you will see us exploit that and Caleb throwing out of play action a lot. They dont get to the QB a lot with only 11 sacks. Henderson is not playing ahd he had 4 sacks. This will resemble the Dallas game a lot. 31-23. Bears.
  15. Amen! I hope CJ terrorizes the Bengals receivers, but not enough to get any penalties
  16. i was also happy to see the NFL fined Baltimore 100K for playing games with Lamar Jackson's Injury status before our game.
  17. I just read that Hendrikson is listed as doubtful. I really didn't want to see him lined up opposite Theo. I was also pleased to hear Stevenson is starting. This quote from BJ published on SI.com makes me smile. 😉
  18. Swift's lack of carries following back to back 100 yard games now makes more sense. However, he extends his streak of never having a 3rd good game following back to back 100 yard games. I would assume Moore will get a few extra carries as well. I don't want Homer to touch the ball unless he has to.
  19. I must be missing something - but to me Brittain Brown looked pretty good in the preseason, admittedly against second and third stringers, but I would expect them to call him up. I mean Homer is no great back. But anyway, this is Monanagai's moment to get the majority of the carries, let's hope he does well and makes the case for himself. He's been very good with limited carries int he backup role, and they say good HBs get better with more carries in a game. So, bring it Monangai!
  20. Swift, Roschon, Burden, and Robinson out for Sunday. Looks like Monangai gets the start with Homer as the only other RB on the roster?
  21. Here's an interesting stat: The Bears offense is last in the league in average yards to go on 3rd down with 8.1 - this is a result in part of penalties. But the Bears offense is also 9th in the league at converting 3rd downs. This means our intermediate passing game is doing well, even when matched against a defense that knows the pass is coming. I think it just shows how we are our own worst enemy, and that with increased consistency will come a huge jump in offensive output for yards and points. It's not like we cant do it, we just need to do it more consistently, and that should come with Johnsons discipline.
  22. Thank you - I will not have a short fuse. As long as it doesnt become a regular thing, I wont rekindle that war. Just sayin - last time I went a couple months saying "please stop, lets be civil" before I did finally reply in kind. I will show the same kind of patience now, because I would like very much to avoid all of that. I will still disagree with people Im sure, but thats OK.

    Caleb...

Mongo, if I'm a spoil sport, I apologize. I love your contributions to the forum and look forward to discussing the Bears with you. I saw Stingers' post aimed at PHX, and was concerned he lit a fuse. All I wanted to do was extinguish it before things got out of hand.
  24. that would be amazing - also if Booker comes in and makes an impact, that would be huge. Im a little reluctant to "crown" a DL who hasnt really done it yet, but all reports from practice say he is ready to make his presence felt on the DL. That would be welcome news indeed!

    Caleb...

This site is no longer fun. It's like the corporation I retired from. Everything changes because of a squeak.

    Caleb...

I'm suggesting it is fine to discuss individual game performances of all players, including Caleb. Hell, I encourage it. That is one of the reasons I enjoy posting on this forum. What I was hoping to defer is the evaluation of his growth as a "Franchise" QB under BJ until after the end of the 2025 season. Let's give BJ a whole year to work with Caleb on his offense. So, we have a book with at least 17 chapters. Chapter 8 will be ready for us to read this Sunday. Let's evaluate each chapter as they are published and wait until the end of the season, when the Chicago Bears' 2024 Season is ready for review, before we sit back and have a civil discussion of Caleb Williams' success or failure in proving he is our future Franchise QB.

    Caleb...

Why would you take a swipe at someone who’s posts you’re not even reading? And he doesn’t mention you.
  28. CJGJ is a ballhawk. 18 INTs in 64 career starts. Jaylon Johnson has 7 INTs in 71 starts and Stevenson has 7 in 36 starts. So as long as they can keep the attitude in check, he will be an upgrade over McCloud, Owens, or whoever else they were plugging in there.
