We can have discussions about the progress of Caleb in his second year but he is golden at the end of games when it matters. The great ones have that. (not saying he's great) but his floor is rising rapidly.

To add to that, if I strip away everything but Pass Yards and TDs, there have only been 8 QBs ever to pass for more than 7,500 Yards and 40 TDs in their first 2 seasons combined: Herbert, Luck, Winston, Newton, Manning, Stroud, Murray, and Mayfield. Of those QBs, only one had fewer than 20 INTs, Stroud who had 17. Williams is on pace for only 14, but all the while putting up numbers that beat even Marino and Burrow. Williams and Nix will be 9 and 10.

That is just silly talk. So check this out, looking up Caleb's stats, and I keep coming back to he is 1 of 1. There literally are no QBs ever to put up the stat line he is going to put up in their first 2 seasons. Right now, no QB has ever thrown for more than 7K Passing Yards with 40 Passing TDs, 500 Rushing Yards, with 20 or fewer INTs. Williams is on pace for 7,500 Passing Yards, 45 Passing TDs, 900 Rushing Yards and 14 INT. He would not only beat that mark, he is going to crush it. He already has 5,677 Pass Yds, 33 TD, 735 Rush Yds, and 10 INT. QBs have had more passing yards, TDs, rushing yards, etc, but none have collectively put together such a well-rounded first two seasons ever. RG3 was close with 6400 Pass Yds, 36 TD, 17 INT, and 1,304 Rush Yds.

I also read an article on SI.com that focused on the Bears' offensive line. It has our OL entering week 10 as the seventh-best unit in the NFL. Mind you, that is with our issues at LOT. 4 out of 5 of our guys are literally kicking ass. The same article had GBP at 10, DET at 12, and MIN at 19. (Couldn't find one updated for entering week 11.)

Line slid to +3, Vegas does not like the Bears.

There is a lot of untapped potential, and the opponent won't really matter if you are constantly finding the mismatch and taking advantage of it. There is no way anyone would've imagined even a top 10 rushing attack with Swift and Monangai to start the season. I know I didn't, but here we are. And if Johnson used it more before the bye, they would easily be #1.

Caleb is way ahead of Brady and Rodgers midway through their second seasons.

I think a QB who can breathe, slow the game down, see the field, anticipate the play, and make the throw under duress is the QB who becomes great in the NFL. The QB who can’t do that is destined for something other than greatness. Williams is still frantic at times, inaccurate too often, and that seemed like the type of play that Brady, Rodgers, Montana, et. al would have laser-guided to the outstretched hands of OZ. When he consistently sees those open receivers and hits them, I’ll believe it fully. Right now I’m just cautiously optimistic.

I read this line in an article, and i thought it summed it all up really well - the good and the real room for improvement, and what it means. "Chicago ranks 3rd in total yards and 7th in points scored through nine games. The have the #2 rushing attack in the league, and Caleb Williams already boasts four 4th quarter comebacks. Most agree the offense isn't even playing with great rhythm yet, which is alarming for future opponents." We're already here statistically, and by the eye test there is a LOT better we could do. Imagine where we are headed...

There was an article a few weeks back that we should trade Caleb too. LOL Clickbait has changed the nature of sports reporting, and narratives take on a life of their own, and often bear no resemblance to the actual facts on the ground LOL The good news is the final score is still the final score, and if we can control that, then they will write new stories about how we are supermen and cant fail. They will also be total BS, but theyll be more fun to read LOL

Intriguing take. Must be a guy looking for clicks. From my sister the Denver fan, if anyone they don’t like (she especially) it’s Peyton. Yet their team is 8-2 despite them both. And they were in the playoffs last year. Interesting comparisons; Nix currently is showing 60.6% completion rate (down from 66.3% last year) and 46.3% outside the pocket (also down from the previous year). Where Caleb is currently running 62% in overall completions and also in the 42% range while outside the pocket but seen as rising. *Note Caleb’s stats were from before last Sunday. One big difference for Caleb (ok actually two) is the sack rate from year one to two and Johnson.

This, I feel, was more in line how he played in Buffalo. Looks like he averaged 60 tackles a year (a few times in the 70s and his rookie year 80). But yeah I’d think it might be the reassignment position.

Edmunds is playing better because DA is using him properly. Last year when the team gave up on Flus, I suspect several players didnt have their heart in the game week to week. Winning changes culture and now he is excelling as a off LBer. Edwards not being there probably enhances his stats a little also.

I think the biggest change for Edmunds is that he isnt playing MLB this year, but WLB and of course Dennis Allen instead of Eberpoo

The only reason, I feel certain is due to seeing this before; not just with the Bears. 100% of the time, these teams fizzle in the end. Now, if I saw the defense getting better, it would be a very different story. As of now, we have to rely on turnovers and exotic blitzes to affect change in a game. That stuff generally doesn't work in the playoffs. I'm really looking forward to December to see if we have Johnson, Gordon and Edwards back. Those three are difference makers in their own way. I'm leary that they'll help the pass rush. But, maybe DA can dial up something that works.

This is something that makes me really happy and confused at the same time. Last year, nobody hated Edmunds more than I did. This year, he is playing his ass off. Did he get a wake up call? Is it scheme change? Culture change? I feel he was not engaged last year, due to various reasons. Is this the real Edmunds?

My guess is Detroit hires Daboll as their OC this offseason. I hope I am wrong. He may have failed as HC (put in a bad position by a bad GM) but he is a very good OC.

Just saw a headline pop up on some news feed stating analyst says Broncos should move on from Bo Nix. I don't read these things since details don't matter to me but the narrative on him is clearly starting to change.

That's fine if you feel that way, but is there really no room to be wrong here? You speak with such certainty about a team that's quite literally 1 win away from potentially being in sole possession of 1st place and being able to control their own destiny the rest of the way. The Bears haven't lost to a bad team yet, but the Packers have, twice. I'm not entirely sold on them being a playoff team yet until I see how these next couple weeks look like, but you already seemed to have shut down any possibility that they could be, which seems weird given the circumstances of the division right now. The Lions just soft fired their OC, the Packers offense is in shambles, and the Vikings quarterback sucks. Everyone in this division has flaws.

He had potential that needed some growing. We are seeing that happen in real time.

Do you think that Caleb is making a bad decision sometimes or just didnt see a player that got open? With 2 or 3 guys putting pressure on him, I suspect he cant always have his eyes down field.

We cant pick our opponents. I would rather be a 6-3 mediocre team than a 3-6 bad team. I am enjoying the entertainment part of watching my team win. Does it give me a false sense of security, of course but that doesnt mean I should not enjoy it. Winning 6 of 7 games is never easy, more so, as being a flawed team. I would say that our confidence is growing not playing the best teams in the league which is always a good thing. As we eliminate mistakes we will preform better when we play the good teams. Before the season started we looked at Minny-Detroit-Dallas-Washington-Baltimore- Cincinnati to all be winning teams. Im not going to feel bad because it didnt turn out that way. I'm an optimist , I always try to look at the good part of anything. when I broke my neck, I didnt feel oh poor me, I still work some at 73 with a broken body. When I had two knee replacements and 3 hip replacements, I didnt think I cant do anything anymore, I just got up and went and did it with a little pain and discomfort. Now when the cold hurts my body, I just go to warm weather for 4 or 5 months and enjoy my life. I am going to look at my football team the same way. My first impression when we win a game is we shouldnt have won. I dont feel bad, I feel elated. Look at a team anyway you like but because I see a glass half full doesnt mean I dont notice it half empty, I just dont dwell on that.

GB has lost to CAR, CLE, and tied DAL. I don't think a team should be penalized for beating the teams they should beat. Instead, they should be penalized for losses to teams they should beat. The Bears lost to MIN, DET, and BAL.

It's easy to disagree and I will. This is a false good team. However, we are trending up. Caleb is a gamer that's learning. The OL is solid, but the DL is still suspect. The LB corps can't tackle anyone without Edwards. The pass rush sucks. There are players that don't belong and some that are overpaid. The next two years will balance that out. This year ain't it. Remember, the arrow is up!
