  1. Thanks for continuing to Admin Adam!!!  I look forward to another season.

As of right now I plan on keeping Amon-Ra St. Brown and Drake London.  I finished 2nd last season, which I think gives me the #9 overall pick.  I drafted St. Brown in the 6th, so I would keep him in the 5th round at #49.  I drafted Drake London in the 10th, so I’d keep him in the 8th round at #72.

  2. I would LOVE it if we drafted Bijan Robinson.  If healthy, he’d be the rookie of the year.  He would make Justin Fields better and he’d sell a ton of jerseys.  He could be the center of our offense for 6 years.  (5th year option plus one franchise tag).

I know running backs are undervalued, but it’s still hard to find ELITE running backs.  Bijan is elite.  If we don’t draft him at 9, he’s going to Philly at 10.

Maybe they try Miller one more time but his fight at the end of the year may have showed him the door.  Actually Mooney and Goodwin play outside and Miller was the slot WR.  Also don't forget,  I suspect Cohen could be the slot WR going forward.

We’ve talked about Cohen being the slot receiver since he’s been drafted.  I don’t see that happening.  Sure there will be the gimmick play where he goes long—but not on a consistent basis.

On the subject of Cohen, who is our kick-off return man?  Cohen is a really good punt returner.  Do we expand his duties?

  4. I know we’ve been trying to trade Anthony Miller.  But with his size and speed, isn’t he our best option as a #2 WR?

Mooney and Goodwin seem like slot receivers.   Then we have JAvon Wims and Riley Ridley who barely see the field.

We had 4 picks in the first four rounds and most agreed that one of those would go towards a #2 WR.  That didn’t happen.

I don't like giving away draft picks but getting 2 of the top 20 players in the draft is a good score.  Potential franchise QB and potential all pro RT. This draft will be looked backed on as one of Paces best drafts.

Maybe.  But Pace keeps putting all his eggs in one basket..

How many times has trading up worked out for Pace?  We traded back and took Cody Whitehair.  We traded up for Trubisky, Anthony Miller, and Leonard Floyd.

He was rated as high as #2, so to get him at #11 while only giving up next year's first and no 2nd or 3rd is pretty solid.

Yep.  But what scares the hell out of me is that Vegas has the Bears over/under for wins as 7.  If that’s close, we will have around the #11 pick.  So we gave up this year’s #20, next year’s #11, and other picks.

We REALLY need to win this year.

Nope. Not in my opinion. Taylor is definitely better.

Taylor (when starter) averages 3220yds, 18.5TDs, and 5.8INTs for a 16 game season.

    Trubisky averages 3328yds, 20TDs, and 11.6INTs for a 16 game season.

The VERY minimal stat differences are not worth the double INT numbers.

Why does nobody wanna start Taylor?  They are always happy to bench him?

Fitz-Magic is off the market.  The quarterback pickings are getting REAL slim.

Well, the Winston idea is dead. I want Tyrod Taylor. He's athletic, fairly accurate, and safe with the ball. It would be in the Bears' best interest in my opinion.

I’d be okay with this.  But isn’t Trubisky better than Taylor?  And aren’t both bad for what Nagy wants to do?  (Although, seemingly, what Nagy WANTS to do is just BAD without elite players)

  9. I don’t think we can assume he’s gone until he’s officially gone.  Today we are seeing a lot of first day big money deals.   There’s gonna be a ton of guys who have to take what they can get.  Patterson’s gonna be in that category.  Like at least half the league has MAJOR cap problems with no money to spend.

Patterson will likely have to take a one year deal that if for far less than he wants.  If the Bears have the best offer—he will take it.

  10. Darnold has not been impressive.  So if the Bears get him—he will get better???  Has that EVER happened with a QB?

I think Russell Wilson is a possibility—but not likely.  We do not have the draft capital to get Watson.

I HATE the idea of giving up draft capital for a failed QB.

And now Winston is off the market.  Mitchell Trubisky is the best quarterback that is reasonably available.  It would be in our best interest to sign him.  Go get him.

  11. Several things.  First, Goldman is passing up 7 million this year not to play.  Granted, he’ll get it eventually, but this could not have been an easy decision.  While it’s disappointing, I have no problem with it.

As for football being the thing we all look forward to, I was just lamenting that July 31 was typically the day I visited training camp.   Granted, it was not going to be in Bourbannais this year, but at least we’d have been flooded with camp stories by now.

That being said, I’m a St. Louis Cardinal fan, and tonight’s game is cancelled because 2 pitchers tested positive.  Baseball has far few players and much less contact.  I REALLY hope we can have a football season regardless of who decides not to play.

Most importantly:  we are saving 7 million in cap space on Goldman.  That’s damn good starter money.  Who are we signing???  Who are we trading for???

I really like Johnson. I’m pretty meh on Kmet.

I guess I just need to accept that Pace is prone to over-addressing needs. Need a QB? Sign Glennon AND draft Trubisky. Weak at WR? Sign Robinson and Gabriel AND draft Miller. Kicker not cutting it? Bring in ten kickers to compete. This year it was historically bad TE production? Sign Graham and Harris AND draft Kmet. I guess it’s just what he does. The good news is, if the O-line fails spectacularly this year, your going to be looking at a lot of new guys next year.

Isn’t it better to over-address needs?  Supposedly our offense was not able to function once Trey Burton went down.  Harris is a blocker—not a receiver.  Do you really want to rely that heavily on an aging Jimmy Graham?

There is still a lot of value on the board to start the 4th round. We have the 57th pick as our first pick of the day:

    OL -
    Prince Tega Wanogho, OT 3rd
    Tyler Biadasz, OG
    Ben Bartch, OT 3rd-4th
    John Simpson, OG 3rd
    Netane Muti, OG
    Ben Bredeson, OG 4th
    Nick Harris, OG 3rd
    Saahdiq Charles, OT 4th
    Shane Lemieux, OG
    Logan Stenberg, OG
    Hakeem Adeniji, OT 4th

    S -
    K'Von Wallace
    Geno Stone
    JR Reed
    Antoine Brooks - Big

    WR -
    KJ Hill 3rd
    Antonio Gandy-Golden  - Big, 3rd-4th
    Donovan Peoples-Jones
    Tyler Johnson
    Gabriel Davis 3rd-4th
    Collin Johnson - Big, 3rd-4th
    James Proche 4th
    Isaiah Coulter - 4.45, 4th

    QB -
    Jacob Eason - 3rd
    Jake Fromm - 3rd
    Anthony Gordon - 5th

    RB -
    Joshua Kelley - 3rd
    Anthony McFarland

    Edge -
    Curtis Weaver - 2nd-3rd
    Bradlee Anae - 3rd
    Khalid Kareem - 3rd-4th
    Trevis Gipson - 4th

WOW.  That’s a lot of value.  Pace REALLY has to be tempted to move up.

Totally.  Kind of disappointing really.  Granted they need offensive help and with Burton leaving TE became more a position of need. Not sure why but I feel all they did was get another version Shaheen or even JP Holtz.  Big body TE...  how many TEs on the roster now?

I know that we have 10 TE’s is a running joke, but how many are going to make the team besides Jimmy Graham?  Adam Shaheen sucks and he will be cut.  We did give Demetrius Harris a $500,000 signing bonus so he’s probably safe.  Ben Braunecker is primarily a special teams guy.  J.P. Holtz and Jesper Horsted were both undrafted rookies who looked okay at the end of the season.  But considering that we now have added Graman, Kmet and Harris, apparently we are not too impressed with them.  I have no idea who the other guys are.

So basically the TE’s who make the roster are Graham, Harris, Kmet, and Braunecker with Holtz and Horsted as practice squad players.  That’s pretty simple.  Does anybody disagree with this?

Clearly from our first two picks Pace is drafting to win now.  The reason I wanted to draft an OT high is for the same reason.

For starters, teams that draft OL early and often generally have a good to great OL.  We simply don't find enough time in that slot.  Bobby Massie is reaching the age and attrition where he is going to miss games and/or fall off on production. (IE: last year)  Then, we move to Charles Leno.  Some say it was the wedding.  Some say it's the baby.  Fact is, he didn't put in the work and basically stole his paycheck last year.  He is a marginal athlete which makes his dedication in the weight room essential.  You can tell from many of his breakdowns that he wss cheating his craft because he didn't have the strength to hold his technique.

Some say, why draft an OT early when we don't have many pics?  He's not going to start anyway.  My answer is this.  Who do you want motivating Leno to work hard to keep his job.  Who do you want coming off the bench when Massie gets hurt?  Who do you want protecting your quarterback, especially if we draft a new one next year?

Pace must stop moving up in the draft.  He's cost us the equivalent of an entire draft on his short tenure.  That is the sole reason we don't have the core strength at our depth positions. The only way I'll accept him doing that again, is if he somehow can get Trent Williams.

I agree 100%.  It’s not just the offensive line that we needed to add depth to but also our d-line who is getting older.

Going into this draftI thought it was imperative that we upgrade our secondary, passing game with a WR or TE, and o-line.   Knowing that we’d only be able to address 2 of the 3, I was REALLY hoping we manage a trade down.  Although even if we had, the next offensive lineman drafted was Ezra Cleveland at #58.  In fact he was the only two offensive linemen taken in the 2nd round were him and Robert Hunt at #39.

One reason we were short on picks this year was because we traded for Mack.  Do you regret that move?  I think it was great.

Hub Arkush is suggesting we make a run for Trent Williams.  Maybe that will happen?

We added two immediate contributors and we have all our picks for next year, except for our 7th which we gave when we traded for Pineiro.

Found another “big-school” comp to Kmet that used to play for the Bears.  Michigan State TE Kellen Davis.  Davis was 6’7” 265# to Kmets 6’6” 262#.

Davis played through to his senior year where he compiled 513 yards and 6 TDs that year.

Kmet played to his Jr year (really the only year he did anything) and complied 515 yards and 6 TDs.

Kellen Davis was a 5th round draft pick.  Kmet was universally projected as a 2nd or 3rd round talent.  There was plenty of speculation that the Bears would draft him in the 2nd round.

It’s funny listening to the SCORE.  HUB didn’t like the pick because he wanted Johnson.  After we took Johnson at 50, he was thrilled to get both.   We added 2 players who should be big contributors immediately.

Josh Jones is the only one they would trade up for.  You would think...

But, please keep our picks Pace!

Agreed!  One of the best trades Pace made was when he traded down and took Cody Whitehair.

Bad trade ups?  Leonard Floyd, Mitch Trubisky, and I’d argue that trading up for David Montgomery was a mistake.

I have mixed feelings about the trade up for Anthony Miler.

Nope. They have to cut him.

    Peace

Disagree.  We could get a conditional 2021 7th round pick with the stipulation that he makes a team for somebody else.  Not exactly a windfall—but it is what it is.

I hope we don't somehow have a pick today (unless it is an absurd trade in our favor...i.e., Mitch for a 1st round pick).

Agreed 100%. I’m hoping for a trade down with one of our #2 picks to add a #3.  We gotta keep adding youth.

I’d be shocked if we don’t trade away at least one 2021 draft pick.

This is a great distraction.  I’m happy the NFL proceeded with this.
