  1. Mike Tice is a good oline coach, a good OC and a very good coach in general. I don't see how anyone could be upset with this move. He has had success calling plays and was a solid coach outside of the boat incident.

    ANd you talk about keeping players in check, that is Lovie's job not Tice's and that is one of Lovie's strong points (not necessarily talking down to players but keeping the lockeroom under control).

    Tice would be a nice hire as an OC and an even better hire as an oline coach.

    I agree with DABEARSDABOMB. Besides last time I checked, this city and it's players react well to "meathead" coaches.

    Worked with Cutler,

    Knows the system that Cutler excelled in.

    Proven Track Record.

    Roommates with Shannahan @ Easter Illinois(Coach factory)

    Born in DeKalb

    Bring in the Kid from USC to be OC

    Who do we bring in to be D -coordinator?

  3. no way in hell we even look at him....does this sound like an Angelo type of guy....no....Could Lovie even handle someone with that kind of intensity...no

    They better pick him up. Kreutz played his best when he was crazy. I think Angelo picked up Colombo because he was considered a mean dirty player. Turns out he was-ask T Harris. Those are exactly the type of guys this teams needs.

  4. So sorry , but obama has yet to make good descision since he been in office. Look at the health care stuff and to be honest comming from Chicago, I would never let a Illinois Politcian do anything for the Bears. They are way to crooked to trust. He is fan and thats good enough, no need to put his hands in the Bears franchise as well. He screwed up the Olympic bid as well.

    Let me guess you voted for Bush and watch Fox News. You guys are like robots.

  5. Get it right. It's "Zombie Lovie."

    I fear that you are right. Lovie will point to Urlacher being out. Bears will agree and keep him and the 11 million it would take to improve the coaching. The offensive lack of production for the 5th straight year under Turner will once again be overlooked. strike that. disregarded.

  6. thank god

    From WSCR-AM 670: Someone in the Bears' organization at a level above general manager Jerry Angelo has begun surveying options for changing the coach or general manager, or both, according to Hub Arkush, a football expert on WSCR-AM 670 and publisher of Pro Football Weekly.

    "Inquiries have been made, feelers have been put out," Arkush said on the radio station today regarding the initial step of gauging interest and affordability of some of the big-names candidates available.

    Arkush specifically named former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan, who groomed Bears quarterback Jay Cutler and helped him earn a Pro Bowl berth in Denver; former Steelers coach Bill Cowher and former Buccaneers and Raiders coach Jon Gruden. All three have won Super Bowls.

    Asked about the report, a team source said, "There's absolutely no truth" to the report.

  7. Angelo has given us poor offensive line, 2nd class wr, d-line that is ineffective and bad drafts with Tommie and tank. Etc etc . Lovie lost the team with these ridiculous performances. Lovie tolerates turners poor performance. I think it's just better, especially with a franchise quarterback, to start fresh. New gm, new coach , new scouts, new assistant coaches. If Phillips was a real team president he should go too, but he is just a figure head.

  8. It's not Lovie's fault we signed Pace and Omiyale, and drafted guys like Harrison, Gilbert, and Igelsias, and traded for a guy like Adams.

    No but he is responsible for his coordinators. Neither the offense or the defense has been run correctly or produced results in the last 2 years.

  9.

    He's right. He was right with last weeks column too. It starting to seem to me that Angelo isn't very good as a GM. He has totally neglected the OL/DL, he cant draft a safety for shit and refuses to sign one in free agency. When Angelo does get players, Lovie cant or wont develop them. There are always players that don't work out for every team, but we have way too many. Additionally Lovie cant develop/manage his own coaches. Ron tuner has a been a loser since he got here and Lovie seems fine with him. He gave that moron LB coach two years at Def Coordinator before stepping in all the while our defense was steadily declining. Im down for new blood from the top down.

  10. Maybe we are closer to getting Shanahan as this game progresses...

    I wish, Shannahan wont come without control over personnel. He is not going to come to be Angelo's boy. The Bears wont fire Lovie or Angelo after a year without Urlacher and a new Quarterback. The most we can hope for is a new offensive cooridnator and by extension a new OL coach.

    Great article and it basically is consistent with what I had told you guys I had heard from a long-time coach and a guy who does some consulting work for Belliceck now.

    People can justify his work any way they want. Bottom line is that the offense sucks and has sucked for his entire tenure here. This is a bottom line business and we deserve better results.

  12. Benson averaged over 4 yards per carry his first two years with us if I'm not mistaken. Then our offensive line got old and slower and when he was inserted as the starter he couldn't do anything. His only real production for us was our Super bowl run. He and TJ were a nice combo but then he pussied out in the super bowl and got "injured". He's not a tough player and didn't fit with the Bears.

    Random thoughts.

    I'll never forget when Cedric pulled himself out of the Superbowl. That was impressive. Also , does anyone remember hearing Lovie tell Benson to gain weight in the off season? Cedric loses wight and now he runs better. It seems like the Bears are always telling RBs to gain weight.

  13. Yea I am not trying to take anything away from Kyle...I am just saying that maybe lack of a superstar QB wasn't our main problem on offense....I still like having Cutler on our side...

    Since Turner has been here every position has been overhauled with new personnel(some multiple times) with the exception of Olin Kreutz. Year after year after year our offense ranks near the bottom of the league. He is the controlling constant When are people going to realize it's his system/philosophy? Thank God for Cutler if only to show everyone more clearly that Turner is the problem.

  14. I know. I hate when he calls picks and fumbles. What a jerk.

    Why are you making excuses for him? He sucks even when they win. He is in charge of that offense. Look at his record. Bears have sucked under his tenure.

    Total Offense Rank

    2005= ranked 29th

    2006= ranked 15th

    2007= ranked 27th

    2008= ranked 26th

    2009= ranked 22th so far.

    FYI= there are only 32 teams. The best he ever produced was "average" on a team with a dominant Defense.

    He is a loser, he was at Illinois and he is here.
