  2. The only improvment we have on offense this year compared to this year is the OL ( hopefully), and i suppose tight end just because Olsen will have another year of experience. Besides that, we are in trouble on the offensive side of the ball...

  3. I was reading some of the Benson stuff and I started thinking...what did we really lose from last year?

Rubin Brown: He played injured for 8 games, then went on IR.

Fred Miller: He played in every game, but not very well. In fact, he caused as many problems as just about anybody on the team IMO.

Moose: 40 receptions and 3 TD's. He had more drops than TD's.

Berrien: 71 receptions and 5 TD's. not bad, bu not really good eaither. Again more Drops than TD's

Griese: While his 10 TD's were OK, his 12 picks cost us at least two games

Benson: 674 yards and 4TD's. not exactly a pro-bowl type year.

While thst list looks like starters all over the place, none were very vital to our team (Berrian is the only possible exception). Remember, our team was 7-9 with these players. Our Offense ranked near the bottom of the pack with these players. Is it possible that these guys were part of the reason we only won 7 games?

Now that they are gone, maybe the replacments will be better? Certainly, every one of them is replacable based on thier stat lines. 40 receptions by moose....totally replacable; 5 TD's by BB....easily replaceable.....674 yds by Benson...not a problem. 12 picks by Griese, Rex can do that blindfolded(JK).

My point is that we were 7-9 WITH these guys. maybe we are better off WITHOUT these guys.

  4. A few team ideas:

-Stoudamire from Phoenix - Look how easily they gave away Marion

-Chandler from NO - He understands how to play now

    -Nene / Kenyon from Denver

-Howard from Orlando - This would be a blockbuster, and probably unlikely

-Bosh from Toronto - This would also be a blockbuster, but more likely considering Toronto's habit of dumping talent

Absolutly no way in hell i would trade our first pick for Tyson fricking chandler, thats just silly. Or Nene or Kenyon, im not sure i'd trade our 2nd round pick for those guys. And I know that Orlando wouldnt trade Howard for anyone but probably Lebron, same with Bosh. So the only legit one is probably Stoudamire but even then we would probably ask for their 1st round pick in return.

  5. To me, Kevin Jones is very similar to Cedric Benson without the off field issues. They both have injury problems, they were both high draft picks who did a nice job in the first season but couldnt handle it when they were " the guys". But since he doesn't have the off field problems that Cedric has, it doesn't hurt taking a chance on him, bring him in JA.

  6. That was probably one of the only positive things from Benson's career here, the fact that the defense didn't like him got him more motivated to prove himself. That showed in the 06 season when he undoubtably had his best year here. Then when in 07 he didn't have anything to prove to anyone, because he was annointed the starter, he did not produce.

  7. I am definitly a believer that we cannot just hand Forte the job by himself. In todays NFL, the only way you get all of the carries by yourself is if you are a stud running back. Otherwise, you are going to have to split some carries with your competition as a starter. That being said, I dont want AP or Garret sharing carries with Forte. So we need to sign a veteran to take that role. I would want Kevin Jones just because he is still young and was a stud his rookie year.

  8. Ideally, I would like the Bears to do what the New Orleans Saints have done the last couple of years. Forte having the same role as Deuce McCalister ( majority of the carries, tough runner). Garret Wolfe have the Reggie Bush role ( 10 + touches a game, some by pass, some by sweeps or trick plays) and AP would fill the Pierre Thomas role ( classic backup, only used if one of the other two goes down with an injury. I think that would be the best way to use our 3 backs.
