    HAHAHA, i was just talking about the same thing wiht a co-worker of mine..and he said the Varsity Blues reference as well, too funny!

     

    The guy busts his a$$ getting us into the redzone and then we give the ball to McKie or to the QB for a 1 yard plunge? What is this, Varsity Blues? Yesterday was like the 4th or 5th time that's happened and it drives me insane!!! The man should be rewarded for his effort and he seems too classy to b1tch about it so I'm doing it for him. Stats matter to most players on some level, and Pro Bowl voters can easily be swayed by flashy numbers. Not to mention we lost a game because we tried that FB dive instead of giving the rock to Forte twice.

    We are going to see very little of our starters. I have been checking out games being played on NFL.com and I do not even recognize half of the players in the lineups in the 1st quarter. I think we will see, despite what Lovie has said, that we will not worry about the win as much as escaping with no significant injuries.

     

    I also noticed that the Patriots were losing in the 2nd quarter and that they have not won a game in the preseason either. Does that mean they suck? Preseason does not mean anything and those who are worried because we lost our first 3 games are not looking at the whole picture, IMHO.

     

     

    Well i see a lot of defensive starters are in and are getting their ass handed to them already!

    OFFENSE - Overall, looked good

     

    QB - Orton looked good. Poised. On target. I was very please with his performance. Did anyone else notice Orton switch jersey after halftime. First half he had the short elastic sleeves, 2nd half the loose sleeves? Wonder why. Rex has lost all confidence. Hes done. cook him.

     

    RB - Forte looked good. He seems to have really good vision. Jones had a very nice run on his first play. I think he will turn out to be a very good pick up for us this year. McKie, you have to catch the ball!

     

    WR - Rashied Davis, great game..I have always been a fan of yours. Brandon Llyod, not much on offense last night, but you still get a spot on the team. Hester, you like your contract? Good, now catch the ball!! Can we redshirt Bennett, I just dont see what all the hype is about with this guy. Mark Bradley, i hope they dont cut you...I still believe you will get that operation and get your male genitals back. Booker, your return to the Bears might be short lived.

     

    TE - Olsen, good hands but dude, you cost yourself a touchdown not lining up properly. Where did Kellen Davis go? I was hoping to see more things out of him this game given Dez Clarks injury.

     

    OL - I was very very pleased with the way they played. Orton had all day to throw! They even opened up a few running lanes for the rb's.

     

    DEFENSE - Horrible, horrible, horrible

     

    DL - Did we even touch the QB other than Dusty on his sack? Im tired of seeing the DE's rush up and around, running past the QB. Ever heard of a inside move? Tommie Harris, were you at the game? Big money players have to show up. You did not.

     

    LB - Poor pursuit angles, poor tackling. I think Urlacher and Briggs were daydreaming about your new contract $$$ along with Tommie Harris.

     

    CB - Can we please be within 5 yards of the WR when the ball is thrown? Yes i know your playing zone coverage, but that doesnt mean be in the next TIME ZONE! Peanut, your time away from camp looks like it has affected your play.

     

    S - Last line of defense. At least you guys didnt let the Rb's get past you last night, but you guys are still giving up the big pass plays.

     

    SPECIAL TEAMS - Good showing on the return game with the exception of Wolfmans fumble. Great punt and fg blocks. Gould, you HAVE to make those field goals!

     

     

    Extra notes - Is it just me or did ever single played that got a big contract this summer play like crap?? Hester (drop ball, fielding a punt in the inzone and getting tackling which should have been a safety), Urlacher , Briggs, Tommie Harris and Robbie Gould.

    First game of the year against the Colts, first kick-off return to Devin Hester!!! and he.......FUMBLES!!! picked up ran in for 6 for the Colts!! Later in the game hester makes up for it and runs a kick-off back for a td! So far... 2-0. Forte is struggling ....averages 60 yds per game. WR screen with Hester is money!! As far as the defense...run defense is sick! pass defense needs some work.

    One thing that REALLY upset me was seeing some of the same garbage that upset me in the past.

     

    When it is 3rd and long, most coaches consider that a pass rushing situation. That is when you send the house to attack the QB, forcing him into a quick decision and not allow routes to develop. You don't have to fear the run, and if the QB has time enough only for a dink pass, it isn't likely to convert a 1st down.

     

    Instead, we did as we have under Babich. We backed off, rushed 4, and dropped everyone else back. We give the QB time in the pocket, and WRs time to develop routes. Result FAR too often is 1st down.

     

    It may have only been the first series of the 1st preseason game, but seeing some of the same BS is very disheartening.
