Noots' Notes Game 4: 48-24 Win over Detroit

It was just two weeks ago that my best friend who coaches semi-pro football told me after watching a televised Bears game (and Cutler for the first time) that one thing he doesn't like is how slowly Cutler gets away from center and that he'd get stepped on if he doesn't watch out. So, yeah, I'm fairly impressed that he basically called it. Just an interesting observation, not to take away from how well he's been playing. I'm still too haunted by the Rex years to be able to deal with a gunslinger so I'm totally for Cutler continuing to play within himself (and post 100 QB ratings :D ).

It's something that you could use as a barometer for how well people know the game. Show me the people who actually think it's the line's fault that the quarterback gets stepped on and I'll show you the folks that need to understand that your QB needs to have good footwork and get the hell outta the way. Unless someone went offsides, it's NEVER the line's fault if the QB gets stepped on pulling away from center.

If Cutler keeps on taking Olin's snaps witout dropping them I'll be happy enough. Fumbles/muffs are a lot worse than getting stepped on, as long as his ankle doesn't give.
