  1. After watching them this whole season (living in MN...) and seeing the weapons that he has to become the QB that he is, I don't give many props to Aaron Rodgers. Granted, he can throw the ball, and do it nicely with minimizing his mistakes. But when you have 5 WR and 2 TE on your team, that would compete for the 1 & 2 spots on almost ANY team in the league, you had better do a great job with them.

Watching them all season, including the game tonight, just showed how often his WR are left wide open in a route and can catch the ball. Constantly they are on perfect timing. Now, whether that's their 'chemistry' or not, the speed and intelligence that ALL their WR have on the field is amazing. When Donald Driver becomes you're 4th / 5th option to go to, you know that you have a stacked position.

Hell, if the Bears had just one WR that could get open as often as Jordy Nelson or Greg Jennings, this team would be almost unstoppable. Constantly I see the throws around a defender, and it's not just a late throw or a bad route, I see a DB running stride for stride with our WR's week in and week out. I don't know what the difference is, or how the Packers WR's are running their routes, but they are constantly open.

Makes you wonder how Hanie would do in an offense like that. Time to throw, WR that are open (constantly) and a TE who is a WR is ability but TE in size, how can you not compete?

What an excellent scouting team by the Packers.

But, overall, I don't think Rodgers would be NEARLY as good with a WR core such as the Bears have - not even close. He can throw, and be accurate, don't get me wrong, but you're only as good as the people you play with.

  2. McCown did a lot nicer tonight than Hanie did if you put all his positive plays into one game. I thought McCown was calm, was able to scramble when he needed to, and didn't make dumb decisions. Props to him for coming onto the team and being able to make a contribution in such a short amount of time.

  3. The bigger question is will Forte return in general. Being franchised will only make him more disgruntled and want to sign with a different team when he becomes a FA. I can't understand why a franchise, who is so cheap, won't pay one of the top 3 RB overall in the league the money they deserve. Sure, don't give a max contract to Johnny Knox just because he's considered your #1 WR, but for a RB that would be the top 2 or 3 players on any team in the league? Come on. Frustrating.

  4. Bell is showing signs of a decent 'Darren Sproles' like player, but he cannot replace Barber. Barber is the crucial 1 / 2 yard RB to get us that first down, and he's done a great job of it. As shown all season, when it didn't come down to him being the 'featured back', he fulfilled his role quite nicely. Bell had a couple nice games, but so did Aromashadou when he was on the Bears. I wouldn't rule out Barber just yet.

  5. I think if there is ANY hope in getting into the playoffs...which there is that ever so slight possibility, then the team should go with McCown. Given that he has veteran ability and from what I understand, some knowledge of Martz' system. If things go sour with no hope for improvement...by the time the 2nd half rolls around then go with Enderle and definitely let him start for the last game.

There is no hope of making the playoffs with how we have been playing - especially against these teams.

Oakland - what, given up 70+ pts past 2 weeks?

    KC - uh, enough said

Denver - Tebow should have been shut down that entire game with out linebacker crew and his passing ability.

Seahawks - I can't begin to say how awful that 2nd half turned out to be, right from the get-go.

  6. The way Bennett was playing, I could see him being our #2 for certain, possibly #1. If he's a #3 on this team, we better have a miraculous free agency - just saying.

He will get his time to shine, and with what I've seen from him thus far, it should be great. Excellent hands, coordination, understanding of the field, can't complain.

  7. This is a terrible decision. McCown is going to play like McNown. Not saying Hanie should start, but we KNOW what McCown can do (nothing) why not give Nathan a start? I can't stand this decision, nor the signing in the first place.

At least Hanie could scramble... McCown has cement on his feet.

  8. Cut---

Hanie. Toeina. Webb. Bowman. Hanie again. Omiyale. Roy Williams. Barber

    Kick ---

Jennings. Conte. Get ur heads out of ur asses.

    Fire--

    Angelo. Martz.

    Cut---

Hanie agree. Toeina disagree. Webb agree. Bowman disagree. Hanie again agree. Omiyale agree. Roy Williams agree. Barber wtf disagree

    Kick ---

Jennings disagree. Conte disagree. Get ur heads out of ur asses.

    Fire--

    Angelo agree. Martz split.

You know, for all the bitching we have about the coaching staff, there weren't many complaints when Cutler adapted to Martz's play calling. Granted it's not the best play calling, but it did get us places. As everyone says, Martz's offense is TOUGH TO LEARN. I didn't expect Hanie to be THIS bad because of it though.

  9. I hope Hanie's enjoying these days because they are his last in the league. No one is going to pay that douche to be their QB, not even 3rd string.

If he was given decent plays to work with I would agree with this. Play actions as an essential part to the game. When they're so "run heavy," why the hell would you not do 1 play action. I cannot remember 1 play action this entire game. And where are the screens?? I saw some screens today, sure, TO WR'S! Where are the RB screens - Bell is more than capable of doing them, and doing them well. I would not prefer to have him on my team either, but I don't think the coaches are really adapting to where he feels comfortable. Couple passes were off today, some were dead on and dropped - it happens.

With a new QB, you think they'd utilize a TE (6'7"... doesn't get much bigger) or a couple of screens to help him out. Instead they go with 2-3 WR running down the field every time, with a 5-6 man coverage. Uh, duh?

  10. I know hindsight is 20/20, but after the Oakland game we really should have brought in another QB. Hanie has been in this system as long as Cutler, so there is no way he should be this bad just because of the system. He was clearly not prepared to play and was just sucking up a salary on the sidelines, basically free money.

People may ask who, I would have tried any veteran over Hanie. Bulger maybe, and after the KC game, why not try McNabb? It is not like Hanie did anything with a complex playbook, and statistically I believe he is the worst QB to start a game this season. We couldn't get any worse. So strip it down and bring in a vet who knows how to run an offense.

Lastly, besides exposing how bad Hanie is, it also shows how good Cutler actually is. I hope he gets more respect and credit now.

Hanie probably had his best week this week. While that's not saying much, and he probably should have done better (2 prev starts already) than he did, he managed the game just the way he needed to. No dumb passes, no unnecessary turnovers, and to take sacks instead of chancing a completion. I think his job today was pretty decent, much like Orton played in 05. Manage the ball, let the run game and the defense win the game for you, as they almost did.

I'm still peeved over how they lost this one, don't get me wrong.

  11. i thought a ton of holding calls were missed from the OL of the broncos today. and that call on idonije, you got it.

what i don't understand is that von miller drove hanie to the ground after the ball was thrown but no call there? all about the name you wear

  12. while barber may have coughed up the ball at the end and ran out of bounds, he shouldn't get the full blame. he was also our only TD today, and ran hard the entire game without fault.

using barber as a scapegoat for this game is just dumb. without him we would not have had a lead to begin with! end of story. (he would have done even better if hanie hadn't overthrown him for a 30yd+ gain, easily)

we went against a defense that is playing lights out since their bye week.

i just can't believe that people put blame on someone who accounted for more than half our yards from offense... that's absurd.

  13. I don't understand why they just don't cut him? What the hell has he done this year to deserve a roster spot? I'd cut Johnny Knox too but that's never going to happen. I can't wait until both of those guys are no longer Bears.

I guess it's sad when you need to keep a guy like Knox on the roster as a #2.

Can't cut either of them really because who else do we have? Hurd, I like, but isn't a solid WR threat. Sanzenbacher was used really nicely at the beginning of the year and I can't understand what went wrong with him to be obsolete on the slant routes... He really was dependable on the short yardage needs.

  14. Luckily Atlanta lost (or at least when I left it looked like they were going to lose). And I still say the Bears can win in the playoffs if they can somehow make it there with Cutler as the QB. Barber and Bell are both quality backups and I'm not overly concerned about the loss of Forte (it hurts but I have a lot of faith in our backups). But I also don't think Forte is done for the year.

Agreed. If we don't make the playoffs I'll blame the WR core before I ever take off Hanie's head.

  15. come on and quit the whining... ATL lost today too, and the Lions are against NO today. If Lions lose we're all still tied. Rough game, yes. Forte down, yes, probably out for a while.

With the way Barber has contributed compared to Forte as of late, it seemed to be a sustainable loss so far.

And this Hanie complaining gets a little old. The guy is rushed just like Cutler was at the beginning of the year before the OL learned to adapt to him. Took 4 or so games. Missed some open receivers yes, but when it counted he came through and the WR's (Knox, Williams) fell out or the RB (Barber, but just lack of understanding I guess) came up empty.

Give the guy a break. All 3 INT's weren't his fault

    • Knox failure to be a WR
    • Williams failure to hold onto crazy glue
    • Hail Mary end of game toss

How about we give Hanie some credit for doing all he could to bring the game into a competition. He should easily have been 2 TD's and 0 INT's today with a win of 20-3, no doubt in my mind.

  16. hit it right on.

hanie has a whole week to get ready again, for a potentially easier team, and won't have all the spotlights on him causing him stress and intimidation. i expect to see him perform much better against the chiefs.

and whether orton or palko start, the qb position should be weak given orton (time) and palko (talent) weaknesses.

    hanie - 18-26 212yds 2td 2int

    bears 24 chiefs 13
