I watched Kiran's highlight video and, all of a sudden, had a mad urge for breakfast.

I never saw so many pancakes being served up by an OLT.

Then I read his interview on the Bears home site. I was blown away! Kiran is such an incredible guy, a true diehard Bears fan living his dream. Can you believe it? His chance encounter a year ago with Flus at a Golf Club, where he boldly proclaimed to him that one day he'd be sitting in his office at Hallas Hall. And now, he's living that dream.

We can see he has the physical attributes. But when you pair that with his desire to be the best, you have something special. He talked about meeting with our OL Coach and how he was anxious to get to work. Braxton, look out—you better believe you have someone who wants your job!

    Love the pick!

    Great summary!

I feel like this draft is going to be the most impactful draft since Payton and or the Butkus Sayers draft. The difference is the Bears' teams back then sucked. The Bears are adding to a 7-win team that lost 3 games they should not have, and now added two top 10 players.

Comparing Odunze to guys like JSN and Olave, I actually prefer Odunze over those guys. He is going to learn so much from Moore and Allen.

Bookmark this thread and come back next January when the Bears are playing in the playoffs.

DUDE!  Yes!  It is a dream scenario!  yes, we must see it play out...but given all we've had to deal with over the decades...this feels GOOD!

My expectation is 10 wins.  But, my greater hope is that no matter the win/loss (which losses can also be just attributed to defense), is the Caleb looks the part.  Not just flashes.  But some consistency.  I'm waiting on the mistakes.  They'll happen.  But, I want to see a prolific passer.  All the signs point to that.

I don't think I'd be mad at that!  Doing what we've been doing for decades hasn't really worked!

That's a tad critical for me.  My full expectation, keeping Justin, was to win ten games. Now, that we will have Caleb pulling the trigger, I expect a little less.  Growing pains, regardless of talent, definitely happen.  However, I'm expecting 12-13 wins next year, even with our division being on the rise.

  5. I've been curbing my enthusiasm since the end of the season.  But, I can't help it, to orange and blue in the veins are pumping now!  I'm mega pumped!  We've never had this in the draft to my memory...1st overall with it being a QB that has the serious potential to be great!  Add another high pick that could land us any one of many position that could help...WR, DE, DT, OL, TE...any of those picks would help.  Some maybe more than others, but I just feel whatever we get at 9 will be a blue chip.  If we trade down, then that's good too!  Maybe not a blue chip...but probably multiple contributors!  Give our lack of depth, etc...that's not a bad option.  Bottle of Lagavulin 16 will be on hand Thursday!

I was upset when I first learned of Cliff Stein leaving the Bears. I was even more alarmed that it was rumored that Warren was the one who showed him the door. I just read an interesting article describing in detail the rise and fall of Cliff Stein and now fully understand why he was dismissed.

The article describes Stein's change in approach to contract negotiations that had become an issue with players and their agents. It also mentioned that he felt Phillips and Stein mishandled negotiations with Arlington Heights which has led to a stalemate in Warren's plans for a stadium there. Finally, it states Warren is concerned that there are "leaks" in the front office of the organization and future dismissals might be announced in the near future.

An interesting article that goes much further in detail than what I just noted:

Cliff Stein’s rise and fall and what led to his dismissal

Fascinating read Pix!  Thanks for sharing!

Mooney is a free agent, that trade doesn't exist and no one's trading for EJAC, declining skills at 18.4 mil next year. Everyone knows its a good chance they cut him. I like the names you drafted. 4 draft picks for Justin may be a reach.

Yeah.  I figured some of hose trades were pipe dreams.

Love the trades you got for eJax, Mooney and Whitehair!

Thanks!  Wanted to get some value for those guys!  I'm going to try another soon w the idea of trying to land a better WR.  It would seem, we either get a stuff Edge or a stud WR.  We need both.  But, I might lean towards the importance of a WR.

  9. Just thought it'd be fun to do some mocks and post em here...  Drop your mock and make some mentions....

This one I did, I'm not really sure if we could realistically trade Whitehair or Mooney, but I did.  My overall premise was to move past JF1, and grab the swing at the fence of Caleb.  Seems after doing that, the top WR's dried up.  So, I went Edge. Nabbed our C, S, G, DT, and TE.  Also got some depth at LB, HB, CB, and OT.  I went Rice w the 1st WR taken because he could already have a rapport w Caleb Williams.  Went Williams as a deep shot WR.  Feel like WR is my weakest element.  Need a FA!

If you hire a coach on a four year plan, and they make a ton of unforced errors, you fire them before the plan is over.

If the coach was making good choices, but losing because the roster wasnt there, thats one thing, but when they are making bad choices on their own, there is no reason to keep them.

If Im at a restaurant, and the appetizers are massively undercooked, and the entree is completely undercooked - I dont need to order dessert to know the meal sucked.

Right?!  It's the Kenny Rogers...know when to hold em, know when to fold em.  This is time to fold.  Is there one team of the other 31 that would hire fLose today as HC if we were to sever ties?

Amen. Flus made too many bonehead coaching errors throughout his second season to be patted on the back for "stability".

Exactly!  Does the man who sets fire to the building get credit for being the one that puts the fire out?

Where’s the old Mad who used to be the “eternal optimist”?

Decades of ineptness has been chipping away at my passion!  :P   Glad to be here and chat again.  I don't want my new found negativity to permeate too much...but I will be as honest as I can!

    well theres that.

This is the same old Bears thinking.

If we dont reach for greatness from this pit we are in, we will get trapped at 9-8 for the next decade. Good enough to say "well get em next year" and bad enough to miss the top talent. You know the story, we've all lived it for DECADES.

    Spot on assessment!

I was as big a proponent of firing Eberflus as anyone here, but the errors he made should be mitigated by good coordinators. It's not a reason to keep someone as head coach in my opinion, but I dont think it dooms us either. If the coordinators are experienced and strong in the room, then the worst about Eberflus is the missed opportunity to have someone better in there, but I dont think Eberflus will sink the ship. When he wants to be overcautious, Ron Rivera or Leslie Frasier or someone like that should be able to push back.

As long as they get the coordinators right, I am much more worried about the Fields decision hurting us in the long run.

I guess, let's see who's desperate enough to take the jobs...

I keep hearing Reich's name.  Since I live in the Indy area, I'm hopefully going to bring a little perspective.  Frank Reich is the salt of the earth type of human being.  His players love him because he always respects, even when he's providing tough love.  His tenure in Indy was rocky.  Andrew Luck did him no favors.  He made a huge mistake by sticking his neck out for Carson Wentz after the eagles benched him.  His success in Indy wasn't what they wanted.  He was then hired to usher in the number pick and was fired mid season.  David Tepper is a nut, so that firing is tainted.  I thought Irsay was going to fire him before he did, due to the offense being so stagnant.  After all my blah blah, I simply just don't know where the stink is with him...

I've got no issue w Reich.  At least yet.  And maybe he can influence the shoddy playcalling and in game management of fLose.  I doubt it.  But, there is a slim chance.

I wouldn't say benefit of the doubt.  I would say allow time to find stability.  The bears have been known as an unstable franchise for too long. For the longest time we had GMs that primarily answered to Ted (a proven idiot) and the ownership.  The addition of warren (not a proven idiot)just this year offers the suggestion that they are trying to be stable.  I'm willing to be patient because Poles drafts well and Warren has yet to prove hes an idiot.

But why hitch your wagon to a Chevy Pacer?  If I want some time for stability, I hire a coach w a track record of winning.  Not epically losing.  Warren offers nothing concrete than building a stadium.  There's no sliver of evidence he's there for anything else.  I don't trust this franchise, plain and simple.  They haven't earned it.  I've been burned way too many times way too long to think differently.  I probably need legit therapy.
