  1. I think we were hoping for a Alex Smith in Glennon which is working out very well for KC.

Alex rose to the pressure and Glennon sunk. Or rather Stunk!

It was a good idea but wrong guy wrong time wrong team.

    Let's hope Mitch does well

  2. I may be in the minority here, but Fangio is so freakin overrated. Week after week the Bears continue to get embarrassed with plays like that where there's no defender within 15-20 yards of a receiver. It's already happened twice in one game tonight. They also apparently don't coach DB's to turn their heads around to find the ball while it's in the air. It literally never happens. You could seriously just throw the ball deep on every play against the Bears and probably get a dozen PI calls during the course of a game.

I think the players have just given up tonight. They got off to a bad start and there is no motivation to play hard for an offense this horrible.

  3. I don't know if he definitely has more upside. Bellamy is a good special teams player being asked to play receiver. He isn't a good receiver. We shouldn't cut him because of his WR gaffes, but we should recognize that he shouldn't be at receiver. Unfortunately, he does need to play wideout right now. In terms of Gentry, he had a drop and a bad penalty. I think we all hope he is some diamond in the rough but think of everyone who bashed the org for not playing Braverman...well, reality was he just wasn't very good (at wideout or special teams).

In Gentry's case, I think this has more to do with Wheaton actually being solid, who they are replacing, and knowing that they can probably stash Gentry on practice squad while he continues to develop and learn the full route tree. I do think Gentry has a chance to be a surprise though (so I'm not bashing him) but I also don't we can blatantly just assume he has way more upside.

Bellamy has catching issues but he's the only receiver who gets open. He runs good routes and that's why I think he has a job. Just hoping he improves on actually catching the ball!

  4. I think it is too early to judge this years draft. I like it so far, but that is a very premature statement. In terms of last years draft, it looked very good after year 1 and with Bullard ascending it looks better (and Floyd looks even better)...that said, we are still talking about some preseason games.

I'm definitely not giving pro bowl status to anyone in this years draft however just based on optimism I feel a lot better about the young players before they have really proven too much than I have in a long time. Hope they work out as well as they seem!

  5. I have to say I haven't felt this optimistic about back to back drafts including UDFA since the early 2000's and these classes might... might produce a ton of starters for a decade. I'll give an A- so far. We could have really used a receiver but we'll see how Gentrey turns out.

  6. Can anybody explain to me why Kevin White is only playing with the #1's in pre-season? He's done absolutely nothing to deserve the early exit treatment. He needs ALL the reps he can get, and in my opinion, he should be out there for the majority of all these pre-season games until he at least does SOMETHING out there to spark a boost in confidence.

The Bears should be doing this with both White and Trubisky. Enough with this Mark Sanchez crap. You can't tell me a single employee in the Bears organization thinks getting Mark Sanchez these meaningless reps in pre-season games is better for Trubisky for the present or the future. The way this thing has been set up so far in pre-season almost makes it look like the Bears are purposely going out of their way to avoid a QB controversy at all costs. Instead of winning football games, they are more focused on silencing the noise. I don't like it.

Last thing, is there any reason why Victor Cruz barely played last night despite being their best receiver? Is John Fox blind? I know the guy has been perpetually injured since his 4th year in the league, but they're treating him like he's some no name guy without much of a chance to make a roster. It just seems weird to me that the Bears haven't given him much of a chance to play with the 1's more.

I don't think you'll get any real answers there. I feel ya though.

I don't mind Trubisky sitting the first 5 games. The schedule is brutal! But for the whole season I don't know if it makes a huge difference. Glennons not Farve so the Rogers analogy as they say doesn't work for me.

  7. Brutal! I don't think I can justify paying for the NFL ticket this season to watch the train wreck that this schedule presents.

    Bummer

    Ha!

However, given that last years' looked a little easier on paper when it came out. I simply am going to expect the worst! But, I think we go 4-12... It's an improvement!

  8. When a team runs a naked bootleg it not only cuts field in half but it's set up with fake run. Typically gets the defense going towards the end therefore it's not very often a wr is in double coverage. It's more 1 on 1. I would want someone ask fox and company why they run naked bootleg's with hoyer but never even attempt them with cutler. After all cutler did excel with it in Denver and that can't be ignored. 1 thing I kind of think is that I've seen the oline getting better and better and back in the 1st couple weeks they couldn't sustain a block at all which you need to sustain them in order to set up a naked bootleg. Maybe that's why. It's all very interesting though for sure

I do agree and have been asking for this for years now but after 20 OC's that have not utilized that play with Culter but do with other QBs you have to think there is a good reason. I don't know man.

  9. If you're not a great decision maker then rolling out is actually a great idea! It splits the field in half, simplifies where the ball can go.

Yes on that but if your throwing on the run into double coverage I don't see good things happening.

  10. It's maddening. It never made sense to me why Cutler hasn't been allowed to rollout more as a Chicago Bear. That was the one thing he excelled at in Denver, yet I can probably count on both hands the number of times a play like that was called when he started.

Maybe when your not a great decision maker rolling out is not the best idea.

  11. He was solid in College. Really was shocked when we got him in the 5th. Don't worry about the talent level of the defenses he has played against. He tore up Michigans run defense last year when no one else was able to. Well everyone other than Ezekial Elliott. I haven't seen YAC potential like that since he who can't be named.
