Louis Delmars was cut today from Detriot.
The last two years he has been plagued by injuries,Detroit cut him because of the price of his contract this year.
He was due to make 6 mil on a one year extension and they needed the cap space.
If he can over come his injuries he would be a much better player than our two starters last year.
He will come reasonable and I think we should kick the tires on him.
First of all nice ass.....uuuummmm picture.....lol...but i would pass he stays hurt way too much

The Bears hired martial arts expert Joe Kim to be a skill development coach for the 2014 season
Kim will work with all of the Bears' position groups on enhancing their use of hands when blocking or escaping blocks, per the source.

I want to be completely honest here. I am a biracial individual born of a black father and white mother. Moms from Chi; pops is from FLA. My mothers brother nurtured my sports alliances while he was still alive. These are the Cubs, Bears, Bulls,, Blackhawks and Sox just cuz they are Chitown. College is the town I live in; Gainesville Fl. so that's Gators all the way. I even root for NW and the Fire. While he's been dead nearly twenty years, I've never had any other allegiances other than the ones he taught me.
That being said, I had found it increasingly difficult to relate to our boards viewpoints on controversial issues. Its quite apparent that the majority of our board is white individuals stuck in the past. The few that are willing to speak up are slammed for not conforming to the otherwise "group think" of the board. Regardless if they have a valid point(that eventually turns out to be gospel) they are put down fore not believing what the majority of our board thinks.
While as I am admitably a homophobe. Yes, I have used the words flamer and faggot. Our Sam's thread reiterates my point that this board is getting impossible to read. The lack of diversity and understanding is troubling.
A person is a person and they are entitled to their own opinion. Tonight I questioned, if while watching the game do some of our posters call our players Nigg** when they missed the tackle. Or if our board would blame Sams orientation as the reason why he missed one.
All in all, as a black bears fan, and in the year 2014 one would hope that our members were more understanding of people that weren't just like themselves. Get your freakin head out of the sand ostriches.
I really cant understand your point. Im a black man and a die hard bears fan born and raised in Chitown. I love the Cubs, Whitesox, Blackhawks,The bears, The Bulls and any teams that comes from the Chi. I am a retired military man so i have been through all kinds of opinions, different attitudes and viewpoints from many different races. I have posted on this board many times with the guys here making my views look silly with their counterpoints to what i post......Jason on this board really kills me but I enjoy him and his views and the views of others. At no time have I been made to feel unwanted. You must remember this is a board of free speech from whoever is here.....i think you just need to get thicker skin or maybe select your posts more carefully. These guys were sending me things when I was in the Iraq war so my love is with the family here of Bear fans.

I think it could be more about what they wanna do schematically. I THINK we'll be doing a lot more man to man and I don't think Tillman has the speed to hang in M2M coverage. I hope he tests the waters, no one is really interested, and he comes back as a safety.
IMHO if Tillman comes back it wont be as a safety, my thinking is with our D getting older and how bad they played last at safety ........RD1 or RD2 will be a pick at that position
-
News flash came across the screen....Tillman wants to test the market as a FA. Do you think this is another Urlacher move?
-

The New York Giants didn't go with the familiar name for their offensive coordinator position. The team announced Tuesday that Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo is their new leader on offense. So does that weaken the Packers?
Bears free agent defensive end Corey Wootton recently had arthroscopic hip surgery to correct a problem that had caused the four-year NFL veteran discomfort for the past two years, this according to a press release issued on Monday by Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, the location where Wootton underwent the procedure sometime last week. Does this make him a better player next year?
The Detroit Lions hired Baltimore offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell to be their 26th head coach in team history on Tuesday. Detroit moved quickly on Caldwell after Ken Whisenhunt signed with the Titans. Does this make them better or worse since Whisenhunt signed elsewhere?
Vikings still don't have a clue, Mike Zimmer remains the front-runner to fill the Vikings vacant head-coaching position. Mike Zimmer is meeting with the Vikings for the second time. Can he make that team better?
-
Again, show me a team who suffered the types of injuries the Bears have and tell me how good they were. Yes injuries happen and they have happened to other teams, but to the extreme that the Bears went through??? Again, for the Tampa 2 to be successful you HAVE to get pressure from your front 4. When that goes in the shitter like it did for the Bears it makes every other unit on the field look bad.
And you can't say he hasn't done ANYTHING because we truly don't know how much he was doing in 2011 when he was calling plays on a horseshit Jags team and made them a top 5 defense. If you wanna be naive and think that it was all JDR even though all reports say it was Mel then fine.
As for firing the DL and LB coach, ya you do have a point there. FWIW before being a DC Mel was a DBs coach so maybe they feel he needs better help in the DL and LB area.
All I know is that there is obviously something about him that the Bears like. Trestman had no problem firing people in Canada so I don't think it's a "Oh Trestman is just too nice to let him go" type situation.
If you look back at the Green Bay game when we had Ratliff and Briggs out there the run D was MUCH better. Yes, they gave up 2 big plays for 58 yards, but once you eliminate those 2 (I know I'm cherry picking here) they only gave up 3 ypc the other 32 carries.
With better players you get better results. If we had a faster FS we could have made more tackles and passes broken up...how many times did you see Conte a step late on pass coverage. Hell in the last game against Green Bay he missed and INT that would have sealed the game and had a blown coverage that gave the game to the Packers. The bottom line is the players play the game...coaches just put them in the positions to win. If the coach tells a player over and over to go 10 steps and make a left...and the players goes 15 steps and makes a right....is that the fault of the coach or the player. They preach stay in your gaps to the D line......they preach fill your gaps and read your keys to the LB's and stay with your man to the secondary and stay deeped than the deepest man.....but does this happen every play....no they do what they feel is going to make a play. Down and distance is taught by the coaches...but how many times when its 3rd and three the DB is playing 7 yards off the ball thus allowing the inside slant for a first down?
-
Remember these guys?
Chris Harris...Defensive Quality Control Coach. Played a couple years under Lovie was well respected for his knowledge and leadership on the field.
Jon Hoke...Defensive Backs Coach. Coached a couple years under Lovie Smith helped bring Peanut and Jennings to their first Pro Bowls. Helped Chris Conte and Major Wright play in a serviceable manner in 2012. I like Hoke and think he got the best performance we've ever seen from Bowman this past year.
Mike Phair...Dline coach. Helped Henry Melton go from former RB to Pro Bowl DT. He helped Corey Wootton turn into a pretty good player at DE and then had him play acceptably out of position at DT this past season.
The fact these guys were still around from a very good year in 2012 to a disaster year in 2013 means we had coaches on the roster that knew the nuances of the D and had coached it successfully before. That's either more damning of Tucker for leading us down the road to disaster, or more validation that in fact the injuries to all of our DTs, Briggs, and Tillman were too much to overcome in that system with so many rookies and 2nd year players on the field...Bass, Bostic, Greene, Frey, and any rent-a-DT that showed up.
It seems like our posters want to blame Tucker and our coaches for our bad defense this year....but slow down not so fast. There is a saying that coaches coach players play. Missed tackles.......blown coverages.....dropped balls........and poor angles.....and injuries are not on the coach. Having starters go down with rookies and players that are not very good as back ups will kill any defense.

2014.html
2014 Bears OPPONENTS bold are the wins that i think we will have with a better defense this year
HOME: Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins
AWAY: Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots, New York Jets
-
At this point the ones in bold i would sign today....the rest are up for debate,
The potential free agents include James Anderson, Zackary Bowman, Nate Collins, Roberto Garza, Devin Hester, Patrick Mannelly, Henry Melton, Josh McCown, Jeremiah Ratliff, Charles Tillman, D.J. Williams, Corey Wootton and Major Wright.
The others are Taylor Boggs, Eben Britton, Landon Cohen, Blake Costanzo, Kelvin Hayden, Derrick Martin, Sherrick McManis, Jordan Palmer, Dante Rosario, Jonathan Scott, Craig Steltz and Anthony Walters.
-
So we signed Cutler,Gould,Jennings and Slauson and will sign more shortly....as for needs who do we get with the first pick? I think it will or should be a FS or SS. All our secondary are FA ( Waters, Tillman, Wright, Steltz, Bowman, Hayden) and Conte is just not cutting it
-
Hard to see him go. But hard to keep him
Yes we need to keep him until after the draft/FA to see if we can a good DE....if we cant or don't then offer him a restructured contract.
-
HOME
NO, TB, DAL, BUF, MIA
AWAY
ATL, CAR, SF, NE, NYJ
To me this looks like an incredibly difficult schedule. It seems like almost all our opponents have good defenses. TB has a good Defense and will have Lovie. NO and DAL are rematches. BUF and MIA are tough. CAR, SF, and NE will be brutal. ATL was bad but played good late and is always good at home. NYJ has a good Defense and is tough at home. I don't see any easy games.
We obviously have to get better in the division, but either way it is hard for me to see us winning more than 10 games at best.
I really think we have a good chance next year if we upgrade the D in the off season. Buf, Mia, NYJ, TB are teams that don't scare me....NO and DAL cant play in the cold or outside....so SF and NE are the only real threats...the north still has the Pack to deal with....Lions and Vikes will have new coaches ans AT we can beatare one trick ponies that
-
They were the underdogs. 4th and 8 was a huge failure but the D sucked and I had zero faith they'd stop Rodgers. I was hoping they'd score sooner so Jay would have time to maybe get a win as time expires. This defense was pathetic. Think back to the big drives by the Skins and Vikings where the D choked too. Tucker has to go. People have to be fired when the D is that big of a disaster.
I dont know why you want to fire Tucker....did he play in the game? Hell he can only do so much coaching......its the players that have the chore of being where you are supposed to be in coverage....fall on the dead ball like we preach in practice......run to the ball to limit extra yards. We dont really have starting safeties on this team we have two back ups at best which is why we lost

some of the worst pass defenses in NFL history
2011-12 Green Bay Packers: 4,796 Yards (15-1)
2011-12 New England Patriots: 4,704 Yards (13-3)
1995-96 Atlanta Falcons: 4,541 Yards, (9-7)

1986-87 New York Jets: 4,389 Yards (10-6)
1981-82 San Diego Chargers: 4,311 Yards (10-6)
2010-11 Houston Texans: 4,280 Yards (6-10)
2013 chicago bears after 15 games - 3417 yds
why would we even consider keeping tucker for any reason? he has no defensive scheme because all but one year he worked under defensive minded head coaches and ran theirs.
the ONE year he ran his own defense with an offensive minded head coach and it was all on his shoulders as a DC (after THREE years in jacksonville) here is what he finished out with... 29th for points allowed and 30th for yards!!
his coaching CEILING is the bottom 1/3 of the NFL and his bottom floor you need a steam shovel to keep digging to find it!!
the jags had to be jumping for joy we offered him a contract.
No im not taking Mel side but with the Jags he never had really great players to start with so his defense there was always bad. We started off with a 3-0 record and our d was getting it done....then we started to get the injury bug and we have some OLDER players and our rookies are not up to speed.... to me (Greene)was a wasted pick..Conte cant take a good angle to save his live....Wright is always out of position...Peppers is getting OLD. Shea looks lost every play, but we are going to win with the Fab Five... Cutler,Forte,Bennett (TE) Marshall & Jeffery
-
... 4 years, not sure of the details.
One down and a lot to go
-
Yes to all! I bet you are loving the success of our BIG receivers. Are you still deployed?
No im back in the states right now.....but yes Jeffery and Marshall with Bennett are tearing it up. They should be used a little more in the red zone is the only problem i have
-
PLAYOFFS START SUNDAY!!!!
Now we start our first payoff game at home with the Packers. I think we win this game for a few reasons.
1. We are at home
2. Its lose or go home
3. Cutler has a real reason to be motivated to win since the last NFC North Champ game we lost, also this is make or break for Cutler as far as contract goes. Hopefully he can pull a Flacco like last
4. Rodgers will be back.....but will be gun shy and rusty, Lacy is banged up, Matthews, Jolly are out and Briggs is back
5. Everyone is picking the Packers.....fueling the pissed off mentality the Bears should have to prove them wrong.
One question....if we win and the Cowboys win do we get the #3 seed since we beat them?
-
So its almost that time...we have 27 free agents this year with a lot of one year contracts. So in the best interest for the team ...who do we resign and who do we let walk?
Quarterback:
Jay Cutler
Jordan Palmer
Josh McCown
Running Backs
Tony Fiammetta
Wide Receivers:
Devin Hester
Tight Ends:
Dante Rosario
Offensive Tackles:
Jonathan Scott
Guards:
Matt Slauson
Eben Britton
Centers:
Roberto Garza
Defensive Ends:
Corey Wootton
Defensive Tackles:
Nate Collins
Henry Melton
Jay Radcliff
Outside Linebackers
James Anderson CHI
Inside Linebackers
DJ Williams
Blake Costanzo
Larry Grant
Cornerbacks:
Charles Tillman
Tim Jennings
Kelvin Hayden
Zack Bowman
Sherrick McManis
Safeties:
Major Wright
Anthony Walters
Craig Steltz
Kickers:
Robbie Gould
-
If we beat the Packers we are in the first round of the playoffs. Our first game will be at home against either four of the warm weather teams the 49ers,Panthers, Saints or the Cardinals depends on this last weeks games. I like us at home against any one of these teams in the cold.
-
Agreed.
Also for a first year HC, the expereience would be great.
hi
If we beat he Packers we are in the playoff......with the first wildcard game at home......i'll take it
-
I'd love to have him here, but it's likely he will pull a Lovie this year. I don't see why a coach would want the stress of being a coach and work for free this year. If I remember right, his contract would basically be guaranteed, but the Jets wouldn't have to pay what he makes this year.
Like if he was getting paid 5 million dollars, and someone offered him a a head coaching job making 7 million, the Jets would have to pay nothing. He'd make 2 million more than if he sat at home. If the bears hired him as a DC making 1 million dollars, then the Bears would pay a million and the Jets would pay 4 million. He'd basically be working for free.
First i want to say you can blame coaches all you want....but they coach not play.......if a player doesn't do what the coaches preach then its not the fault of the coach. Outside of the injuries, poor angles , bad tackling, and gap discipline are all on the players. If we have sub par players and they are screwing up you bench them.....how who we have as back ups to those players is the problem we have....no starting talent as back ups on defense..we have rookies starting as LB'S D line has DE as DT secondary beat up with no talent other than Jennings and Tillman,,,with that you are asking for a sorry defense
Bears made a mistake

I think we made a mistake by not resigning Hester. cutting Bennett and signing Hixon was good but we should have cut Weems and kept Hester. We could use him as the 5th WR to make the run plays that Jeffery does to limit Jeffery from getting hurt. .Think about Marshall...Jeffrey. ..Wilson...Hixon....Hester as the top five and Williams as the 6th WR/PR...you have hands...height and speed
