Rodgers, Sharper, Knox win NFC player of month honors

The NFL has unveiled the players of the month for October.

For the NFC, the offensive player of the month is Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who somehow generated a 123.9 passer rating while otherwise running for his life behind a porous offensive line.

He completed 74.5 percent of his throws, and he averaged 10.5 yards per attempt in leading the Packers to two wins in three games.

Saints safety Darren Sharper is the NFC defensive player of the months, thanks to three interceptions in October, two of which were returned for touchdowns in three games.

The Packers and Saints have owned the offensive and defensive awards for the first two months of the season; Green Bay cornerback Charles Woodson was the defensive player of the month for September, and Saints quarterback Drew Brees was the offensive player of the month.

Bears rookie kick returner Johnny Knox won the NFC special teams player of the month award, with 12 kickoff returns for 347 yards and a 102-yard touchdown.

All three award winners played only three games in during the month of October, since the Packers, Saints, and Bears each had a bye week.
