There are some guys on this list who can be had on the cheap at CB and BTW I thought Lito Sheppard played with the Eagles.

Nah, the Eagles cut him back in '08, then he spent a season with the Jets, then he went to the Vikings.

As for the guys on that list, it's pretty grim. Here's hoping that a new CBA gets done, so 5-year or maybe even 4-year vets can be FAs. Most of the guards whose names I recognize are old and broken: Faneca, Dockery, Womack. Robert Gallery's probably the only one I'd like to see in a Bears uniform, but I've been hearing rumors that Seattle already has an under-the-table deal worked out with him (since Tom Cable's now their o-line coach.)

We might be better off signing a tackle and moving him to guard; there's a little more depth there. Here's the list of FA tackles:

Jammal Brown, Redskins

Matt Light, Patriots

Damien Woody, Jets

Kevin Shaffer, Bears

Alex Barron, Cowboys

Jordan Black, Jaguars

Ryan O'Callaghan, Chiefs

Wayne Hunter, Jets

Langston Walker, Raiders

Khalif Barnes, Raiders

Trai Essex, Steelers

Barry Sims, 49ers

Ray Willis, Seahawks

Sean Locklear, Seahawks

A couple of those guys could play both tackle and guard, I think. Wayne Hunter might be a good target: he's one of the better swing backups in the league, and apparently did OK in spot starts at RT for the Jets. But really, if the 2010 league rules stay in place, it's going to be a dismal FA crop across the board.
