The great Brian Urlacher was on the Score yesterday. In an interview, he was talking about how good the Packers are going to be with the addition of Julius Peppers. With all the years of being paid well from the Bears and all the catering they did to him,he keeps taking shots at them because of the failed last contract. As far as Im concerned he's quite a jerk with sour grapes attitude he carries.
Burn him at the stakes in Salem!!!
The guy also said good things about the Bears. He is going to say good things about Julius Peppers regardless of were he plays, them two were teammates and had each others back. That loyalty has always meant more to Brian.

Not sure it's a Surprise but I'm in on Vereen. He and a healthy Adrian Wilson will more than likely hold the safety position all season. I still don't like the Fuller pick but whatever. I'd put Jennings at Nickel to be be honest.
I think the Bears will play Jennings more at the Nickel myself, Fuller will get as much experience in the position he was drafted to hold down.
My training camp surprise is Ego Fergusan, I believe he will challenge Paea and possibly take over with the first team.
8 Days until camp opens....

I wouldn't say Conte is still safe, all reports I've heard say Brock has a legit chance at starting. Ya, Wilson would be competition for Mundy....A ton of competition at safety in camp, should be interesting to follow.
I was putting it as safe from not getting cut. Even if Vereen starts which it is looking promising, we still need depth like Conte who is on a cheap rookie contract.
-
https://twitter.com/ESPNChiBears Worth a shot I'd say. Would be awesome if he returns to form. At the very least he's probably good to have around Brock.
A.) Mundy must have been mediocre so far in OTA's and mini camp
B.) Conte is still safe

I agree with some of that but IF he can still play-we need him. A trade wouldnt bring much a 5th or 6th rounder.
We have promise in Bostic and McClellin, Greene is right there too but a little he can use this year to hone in on WLB.
-
Probably be hard for me to come...but I am coming back one more time, and I would love to time it to that day!
I've been to the last two Blackhawk parades and the feeling is like nothing else and a must on a bucket list. After seeing the Whitesox parade on TV, I said I will not miss another one. To see the Bears parade through town under ticker tape is at the top of my sports bucket list, well right under attending the Super Bowl game.

I agree, but better for us than the distractions that show brings to a team. The Bears have some characters on this team, would have been much more of an interesting show with us in it. I wont watch anyways.
It would be fun to watch, but rather have them concentrating on 100% football and not trying to become a tv star. Not getting this will allow them to keep their heads that much more into football.
-
All I said was in was great in coverage, based off PFF he was, and with his past as a safety it's believable. Also said he was a solid tackler which I believe as well. His problem wasn't missed tackles, it was getting in the position to make said tackles.
We really need to throw away our 2013 memories of the horrendous D. This is a new year and with luck, this unit can stay healthy and show us something. They are working on the flaws, which a lot of it came down to being out of position. The positive point on this is Bostic and McClellin are pushing themselves into possibly starters. If they fail, we have a vet DJ Williams who can step in. If they succeed, we have two young/fast LBs that can attack, which Tucker uses the Mike/Sam in his blitzs.

No. All it's saying is we have a tiny investment in throwing another dart at the board...
Looks like I threw a dart and hit a bullseye.
Palmer has a strained pectoral
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,5863426.story
Signs of Johnson and Fales taking all the 2nd team snaps led me to think something was not right with Palmer.

It is only OTAs... http://www.csnchicago.com/bears/jon-bostic...rs-no-1-mlb-job
How great will that be if things fall in place and these two excel (Bostic/Shea). Give Greene this season to continue grooming into Briggs replacement, and you also have Jones developing.

Wait until the 2012 grade too. But I think we are good now. The old regime has been shown the door.

Exactly, just another dart that may or may not stick. Investing because he may have more to offer than any of the other 3 guys behind cutty.

I guess they aren't as satisfied with Cutler as the koolaid drinkers think!!!!

What it says, is something is possibly wrong with Jordan Palmer. Fales and Johnson took the 2nd team snaps at OTA's. Also, Palmer only has like 12 completions were Claussen has 157, so NFL game experience is also a factor.

One thing that stuck with me was the willingness (at least outwardly) of Jennings to do the NB. This despite he being a ProBowler the last two years as a starting CB. Talk about a team player. Good job 26.
Definately a good guy. Our DB depth is forming nicely, and I can see another CB taken early next draft. If Fuller is as good as deemed, our CB line looks good.
-
Sounds like the D line gained some insight.
"Stephen Paea coming out & saying he's learned more in 3 weeks than his whole NFL career should speak volumes about this new coaching staff"
Also seen Brock Vereen got first team reps at FS and looked good. Conte better be paying attention.
Also, Bostic playing SAM with 1st team and McClellin paying Mike with second team recently.
Tim Jennings still working at Nickle and looks good against the run.
Frey rotated with Fuller at #2 CB and Hayden took Tillmans place since he was absent.

Remember all the noise when Cutler was signed and how the Bears were crazy to give him that kind of money? Well, looks like the deal will fall in line or look great as other QBs contracts renew.
Kaepernick signs 6 year 126 million, Cutler 7 year 126.7.
Kaepernick guaranted 60 of it; Cutler 54 million.
Just wait to see what Cincy does with Dalton and then Seattle with Wilson. Our front office is right there with understanding contracts, glad we are out of the tunnel and finally looking up as a team again.

How about we move on and give this site some better Bears input? Realize that what you write is etched in stone, so give the WWW your best. Debate all you want and keep it friendly. Personal attacks and vulgar languange were not allowed on here before. This used to be moderated closely, and I think since this has been a classy forum, leniency was given. All I know is some great posters have moved on. I would like to see them back and see new additions. Peace

I may be an exception but I really don't see Briggs as a leader other than by his performance on the field. I can't find the article right now but he had some quotes recently that made him sound happy that someone else was taking over the play calling responsibilities. He's a quiet guy in some ways who just wants to come in and do his job. He is definitely respected in the locker room but I can't recall many players saying he was a coach on the field always getting guys into the right position ala Mike Brown years ago. Briggs was pretty clear last year that he wasn't comfortable making the calls in the defensive huddle.
By popular vote the majority here would trade him for a 2nd Rd pick. Those who wouldn't trade him at all are all-in that we can win the Superbowl this year and see no reason to take a risk. I said initially that if things were looking good with our young LB'ers in training camp I'd accept a 3rd but a 2nd Rd pick would close the deal for me before training camp.
Being a 7 time perennial probowler and probably the Bears best OLB in there glorified LBer history. He has been nothing but persistant at holding down that posisition. As for a play calling leader, he may not be. But as a leader the players can rally behind, watch, and listen too, he is definately a leader. If he comes back healthy, there's no reason that he cannot play at the probowl level. Trading him for potential is for a team in rebuild, but with the moves Emery made, we are not there.
Today I don't see the point on trading one of your better players.
-
Briggs and Tillman are the remaining leadership. They both need to pass the torch and teach the newbies as much as they can. On the line, Ratliff has that role. A third rd pick is no longer a need with a team that will have a hard time cutting youth this summer.
-
I am not sure but dont think anybody made the team from there OTAs performances. It is just a session getting people in the right spots and learning there specific assignments. Never really tells us much.
Just looking into this with the new CBA. A player can receive a playbook whenever, but the coach cannot contact/talk to a player until April 16th. OTA's are about setting the tone of practices and seeing where/who is behind.
I am not sure how many players are self preparing like the Bears Marshall, Jeffery, Cutler, Forte, Wilson, and Bennett, but they have put themselves ahead of the curve. Now we need someone on Defense that can unite the players for that type of unity and preparedness.

On to the Cutler vs McCown debate! Hurray! We got a guy who is said to be a QB guru/Whisperer in charge of the offense, and we think he made the wrong choice? I woulda backed either choice knowing that Trestman more than likely had a big say in the decision. It's that simple. And McCown got to pile up his numbers against some dreadful defenses.
I think Kyle Orton would have put up better numbers, check that Jim Miller....but Rex is our Quarterback.

Wasn't there a separate post with pics from the first day of OTA's? Where did that go? I was going to ask, for those that may make it to see some of these practices, how did players like Christian Jones, Fendi Onubun and Willie Young look?
There were some pictures of the 3 day rookie practice. . . .

NYC - If I'm a dick, then you're a giant crybaby. You've been that way since you bitched and whined on the last board because I took something overtly political out of your post, while leaving the remaining post and intent intact. What makes it ironic is you've since exposed your political leanings in other posts, and I actually agree with you politically. This, however, is not a board about politics - or at least it shouldn't be - and those posts should always be edited or removed (even if the current mods aren't doing it). BTW - If you go back on the board, nobody here was talking $5M for Urlacher. Most were saying just give him a little more than the low-ball, initial offer. If I recall, the majority were saying $2.5-$3 at very most. That likely would have helped Urlacher save face, the team would have done the right thing for a HOFer, and the team would have almost certainly benefitted as a result. Last but not least, to even compare Urlacher to Webb is ridiculously ignorant on various levels, and doesn't deserve to be justified in the slightest. scs - Because of PFF's support of Webb, who obviously sucked for anyone who actually watched him play football, their stats will continue to be severely flawed. Any PFF stats used to support or detract from an opinion are moderately interesting at best, throw-away at worst. Just watching film and compiling numbers doesn't guarantee a meaningful result. I give them kudos for trying, and doing what others haven't done, or would like to do, but their final product still requires significant upgrading. Ashkum - You gotta be shittin' me with that "locker room cancer" stuff. Urlacher was loved by pretty much all teammates (I haven't heard of a guy going against him, but I don't read everything so it's possible?). And as far as I know, all the coaches he played for loved him while he was in Chicago. Maybe our definitions of locker room cancer are different. He wasn't the best with the fans, but he was loved by teammates and cocahes. LT2 - Both your scenarios are possible, but Urlacher looked better at the end of his last year than at the beginning. This tends to support the "Urlacher is back and healthy" argument. I had not heard Peppers became a bad locker room guy. You're also right that it's POSSIBLE Urlacher would have caused waves, but that, just like his production last year, are unknowns. His production on the field in previous seasons and during his last season supports the concept that he would have made the team better last year, but there is no real support - that I know of - for him actually causing problems in the clubhouse amongst teammates or coaches. Alaska - Apparently you are the only one capable of actually grasping the very realistic concept that Urlacher, while diminished, was still better than anyone on the team last year, and almost certainly would have made the defense better. How much is anyone's guess. Nothing is a 100% certainty - nobody saw it coming when an "in his prime Knox" basically get retired on a single, spine-bending hit - but Urlacher's legacy, history, production, and upward trend towards the end of his last year say he would have helped the team.
You must not have read that post clearly because it said "if you can't tell I am being sarcastic" which was a tongue in cheek, overboard mockery of some of the bashing I see on certain Bears at times.

They were excited on 670 the Score saying Fuller has two INT's.
My thought...it's "practice"....it's only "practice" (Allen Iverson)
Great to see he is making plays though, that's what we need.
