When Poles is upgrading the STs, you know he totally expects them to be in play of winning the division and capable of more. Was he a free agent? Or do we save some money?

I’m sure he’s still on his rookie deal and considering he was a 7th round pick not much savings there.

  2. Interesting to note that, with all the Vikings moves, their 2025 draft picks are:

    - Their own 1st

    - Their own 5th

    - The Browns 5th

and that’s it. We thought we didn’t have much draft capital this year, but we had two top ten picks and another day 2 pick. If McCarthy isn’t the guy and/or the Vikings struggle, they are going to be in some trouble in the 2025 offseason.

They would be awesome if Fields plays that much, but Wilson is not terrible. He would have to have a few bad games in a row before they replace him.

Also the Steelers invested heavily on offense in the draft early with two O-line picks that figure to start and a WR who will probably contribute, so if they help as expected it might help Russell Wilson look good for a while.

  4. Boo. You shouldn’t be drafting an punter in the fourth round and certainly shouldn’t be spending draft picks on punters two years apart. Considering the Texans traded up right after our pick you have to think some kind of deal with them was available for the Bears too. If this is it, it’s an underwhelming end for me.

  5. Guys who came in for Top 30 visits that are still on the board (since all three picks so far also had top 30 visits):

    • RB Dylan Laube (New Hampshire)
    • WR Jha’Quan Jackson (Tulane)
    • CB Nehemiah Pritchett (Auburn)
    • EDGE Austin Booker (Kansas)
    • CB Cam Hart (Notre Dame)
    • LB Bryce Gallagher (NW)
    • S Dadrion Taylor-Demerson (Texas Tech)

I have to believe Flus gets one defensive pick before all’s said and done. Booker is interesting to me because he has the kind of size Poles gravitates to, but his RAS was pretty average.

  6. Based on Poles’ comments a moment ago, it sound like the Bears were debating between the highest guy on their board (Amegadjie) or taking someone further down their board that filled a need in Bralen Trice, and when Trice went to the Falcons a spot before them, that made their decision for them.

This is a good pick in terms of BPA. Raw upside but needs some development. I like what they are doing and expect next year we will see a few more defensive selections. I wonder if they go db / safety in round 4 or maybe stick with them and take an interior / center prospect.

Need someone to help in pass rush, IMO.

  8. My favorite part of the Rome pick is that you bring in someone who can work inside or outside, so you can really move those three primary WRs around as you see fit. My concern about waiting on WR was that we’d get a “slot only” type guy which would kind of lock you into a certain formation. But now any of the three and work in the slot or outside and try to maximize mismatches based on the defense.

    Mine:

    1a) Caleb - Obvi

1b) Nabors/Odunze - I think one of them will be there and the Bears will take him.

*Small trade down in the 3rd to get a 5th and 6th*

    3) Mo Kamara, DE, Colorado State - If all you want is a guy you can put in on passing downs to rush the passer when you move Walker inside, this is probably your best bet.

    4) Gabe Hall, DT, Baylor- 3T potential

    5) Elijah Jones, CB, Boston College - Not a huge need but the Bears seem to have done a lot of work on mid-round CBs.

    6) Frank Crum, OT, Wyoming - Super athletic OT prospect to stash on the practice squad and see if he develops.

    So far, so good . . .

NFL is investigating the FA signings of Saquon and Cousins per shefty. Expecting loss of draft picks - potentially more severe for Falcons vs. Eagles.  Some swirling reports that maybe the Giants/Vikings actually pick up the lost picks.

Would Falcons lose their 1st rounder (or will it be a lesser pick or a future pick) and beyond that - will Vikings potentially get that pick.  Could have major implications on Bears positioning - especially if NFL set a tone and took away #8 pick (I would be shocked - I'm expecting something like a 2nd or 3rd rounder if they wanted to come down hard).

I can’t imagine the league taking away draft picks this year on the week of the draft.
