We've seen it happen before. A player never gets the respect he deserves because he is playing backup to a guy everyone is calling a generational talent, a surefire NFL Blue Chip player.

I predict, unless he gets injured, Ros will be every bit as productive as Bijan. In fact, I'd go so far as to say he might wind up being our starter, and put up some amazing numbers.

    Individual Rushing Statistics
    # Player GP ATT Gain Loss Net AVG TD Long AVG/G
    5 Robinson, Bijan 12 258 1622 42 1580 6.1 18 78 131.67
    2 Johnson, Roschon 12 93 563 9 554 6.0 5 52 46.17

I have to admit, while I have no problem with the pick, I don’t really see it with Roschon as a starter. I don’t know how many starters in todays NFL run a 4.58 40 but I’m guessing not a ton. I certainly appreciate all the things he can do and I think he will be a very useful back, but I think you are going to end up with a guy who can get you chunks of yards but doesn’t really break big runs, which is something we saw with Monty. I see him as our best goal line option, but I don’t think he’s as elusive as, say, Nick Chubb. He’s more Rhamondre Stevenson (or, dare I say, Jordan Howard) I think, which is a fine player and quasi-starter, but I think Foremsn and even Herbert have more big play ability.

It’s not that hard to motion Velus into the backfield pre snap.  I definitely agree on the blitz concern with Fields. Again I would not do this very often just a rare look.  Even then I’d likely be telling Fields to just hand it to the jet sweep just to see how a team reacts.

Or maybe you use Roschon or Homer, two good pass protection backs who can catch the ball, as the 5th WR, maybe even closer to the line of scrimmage, so they can act like WRs or block as needed.

  3. Adam can probably update this his fancy way, but I'm penciling in the following for the roster:

    QB: Fields, Walker

    RB: Herbert, Foreman, Johnson, Homer

    FB: Blasingame

WR: Moore, Mooney, Claypool, Jones, Scott, St. Brown

    TE: Kmet, Tonyan, Allen

    C Patrick, Whitehair, Kramer

    OG - Davis, Jenkins, Carter

    OT: Jones, Wright, Borom, Leatherwood

    DE: Green, Walker, Gipson, Robinson

    DT: Billings, Jones, Dexter, Pickens

LB: Edmunds, Edwards, Sanborn, Sewell, Weatherford

CB: Johnson, Gordon, Stevenson, Blackwell, Vildor, Smith

    S: Jackson, Brisker, Hicks, Williamson

    P: Gill

    K: Santos

    LS: Scales

Besides the obvious need for a starting DE, I could see us being in the market for a better third safety (unless they see Terell Smith helping there) and maybe some OL depth.

  4. I don't know most of these guys, but Badget is interesting as he was probably the best undrafted QB this year.  He'll only need to beat out Peterman to maybe make the practice squad.  I hope they give him the chance.

Anyone know of any interesting UDFA prospects at the edge or OC positions? 😉

Wondering if it’s a situation where the Bears aren’t addressing it late because they don’t have a guy they love, but they know that by not addressing it it makes their situation more attractive to UDFAs. Still I’d love to see them take a chance on Andre Carter and let the Army guy hear his name called.

    Roschon Johnson RB Texas

If he wasn't behind Bijan Robinson, he would have been more known.  I think he will be a good back.

#26 on Feldmans beast list.  Has size to break tackles, patients and vision to find the gap and quicker than expected to get through. 6' 219, so the Bears can keep pounding the ball if needed. Also a vocal leader and good culture guy. Reminds me of Montgomery.

Sounds like he’s a great dude too. Does all the little things, leader in the locker room, will play special teams.

A YouTube Video had a list of visitations to the Bears, the 30 pre-draft visits plus locals. From what I read, Poles didn't draft any player he brought in for a pre-draft interview last year. So I'm not sure how valuable this list is in trying to predict his draft board.

I thought Dexter would be the 3T too, which he can since he has the motor to wreck havoc.  But he will be slotted to work at the 1T and learn from Billings.  Dexter and Pickens will grow into a nice tandem with their size and burst.

Obviously it’s a round earlier for both, but I’m getting flashback to the year they took Tommie Harris and Tank Johnson.
