  1. Plan is to sign veteran C Will Montgomery today. RT @BradBiggs: #Bears have informed C Roberto Garza he will be released.
  2. So we have Cutler, Marshall and Bates. Now get Eddie Royal and we will have something similar to what Cutler had his pro bowl year. Still WOW.
  3. WOW, and we still can get Mario and keep our 1st rd pick. Already impressed with Phill already.
  4. We said it here a while ago, and it looks like the Bears finally did it. Bears announce they have hired Jeremy Bates as quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator. Bates was in Denver with Jay Cutler. https://twitter.com/#!/vxmcclure23/stat...934569671602178
  5. Depending on who is the new GM do we really think that he is going to do everything possible to help Lovie win? If we would have hired the Eric DeCosta from the Ravens wouldn't he want to hire someone to run a 3-4 defense since that is something Eric would be comfortable with? I know that Eric is going to stay with the Ravens, but a GM would want to bring in his own people that believe in his system. If Lovie and the Bears win next year it would be unpopular to fire him. I have it in my mind that next year will be our last run at it and after that the Bears will restock/rebuilt.
  6. They are saying that the Bears will bring in Jeremy Bates as the passing game coordinator. I remember that they were trying to interview him for the OC because he was with the Broncos when Jay was there.
  7. Thanks MadLithuanian, I joined this this board a day after you and I was around when we had Bearstalk. I just don't post much, but read just about everything. I'll try posting more.
  8. Bears Promote Mike Tice To Offensive Coordinator The Chicago Bears have promoted offensive line coach Mike Tice to offensive coordinator, Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports. Though Tice has head coaching experience in the NFL, he has never been a coordinator. An opportunity to coordinate the Tennessee Titans was blocked by the Bears last offseason. To account for a lack of experience at this position, Glazer adds that Tice will manage the running game and will be paired with a passing game coordinator, a situation occurred with the Arizona Cardinals, who had Russ Grimm coordinate the running game and Matt Miller run the passing game. http://www.macsfootballblog.com/2012/01/be...-offensive.html Going to be a wasted year and then the new GM will bring in his own people the year after. Keeping Lovie appears to be a financial move.

    Jerry Gone

According to Mulligan on 670 the Score, Jerry is Done. Not sure if its fired or retired.
  10. The Broncos waived quarterback Kyle Orton, team executive vice president John Elway announced today, ending his run with the team. Orton and his agent David Dunn had started talking to Broncos officials about the move after it was learned Chicago Bears' quarterback Jay Cutler suffered a broken thumb on his right passing thumb Sunday that will likely sideline him for the rest of the season. Orton has declined to comment. Orton was drafted in 2005 by the Bears and was a two-year starter there before he was traded prior to the 2009 season to the Broncos in a trade for Cutler. The deal also included draft picks. Orton was the Broncos' starter from 2009 until he was benched in favor of Tim Tebow at halftime of BLOG: FIRST-AND-ORANGE The Denver Post's NFL reporters post analysis, notes and more on this blog dedicated to the Denver Broncos. the fifth game this season against San Diego. With Orton and his wife having a newborn baby girl in August, the quarterback was willing to stay in Denver despite a difficult professional situation. However, Orton let it be known that Chicago would be one place he'd like to play for. The waiver process can be tricky as other NFL teams ranked ahead of the Bears — such as the Kansas City Chiefs — could place a claim on Orton. The Broncos will host the Bears at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Dec. 11. Orton has about $2.58 million left to be paid on his $8.89 million salary this year. Orton was nearly traded to the Miami Dolphins on the eve of training camp in late-July but the deal fell through after Miami decided against terms of a contract extension. Orton went from Jay Cutler's replacement in Denver to Tim Tebow's backup, and is now off the roster. Orton was a team captain this season. He lost his starting job to Tim Tebow during the San Diego game Oct. 9 and has not played since then. Orton was 4-21 as the Broncos starter, including 1-4 this season before Tebow was put into the lineup. The Broncos are 4-1 in Tebow's starts this season leading into a rematch with San Diego Sunday. 11. Browns Cut Shaun Rogers, Five Others By FanHouse Newswire Text SizeAAAPrint this page|EmailShare on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on DiggShare on Lifestream CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Cleveland Browns are cleaning house. On Wednesday, the team terminated the contracts of some big-name players, including their biggest player -- enormous nose tackle Shaun Rogers (right). In addition, the Browns, who are rebuilding once again under new coach Pat Shurmur, also released veteran linebackers Eric Barton and David Bowens, defensive end Kenyon Coleman, tight end Robert Royal and right offensive tackle John St. Clair. All six of the players are over age 30, and the moves will save the Browns nearly $19 million in base salaries. The 350-pound-plus Rogers, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, was slowed by injuries and played sparingly last season. He was due to make $5.5 million in 2011 with a $500,000 roster bonus. The Browns announced the cuts in a one-paragraph statement, and moments later Barton expressed his disappointment at being let go on his Twitter account. "No longer a Cleveland brown," Barton wrote. "I'm gonna miss the great friends I met there." Rogers was on his own practice schedule last season, resting a leg injury so he could play on Sundays. He lost favor with former coach Eric Mangini, who used to go out of his way to praise defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin. A Pro Bowler in 2008, Rogers played in 15 games, but only made one start and finished with just 17 tackles. Barton and Bowens were signed as free agents in Cleveland by Mangini, who was fired in January following his second straight 5-11 season. Coleman, who started 14 games at left end last season, also played for Mangini with the New York Jets before he was brought to Cleveland in a trade. St. Clair made 10 starts last season, but missed five games with an ankle injury. The Browns are expected to switch from a 3-4 defensive scheme to a 4-3 under new coordinator Dick Jauron, who coached Rogers in Detroit. Bowens, who was close to being cut before the season, played well despite a knee injury and provided valuable leadership. He also returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the Browns' upset of New Orleans on Oct. 24. Copyright 2011 The Associated Press. 12. One of the beat reporters on ESPN 1000, said that some of the guys went to Lovie after the Denver game and told him that they had to keep AP. Then he said that today some of the "Heavy Hitter" (Most important Bears) went up to Lovie again and told him they had to find a way to keep AP. That has to say a lot about how much AP means to the locker room, it also says that AP is/was on the bubble.
  13. One of the things I will not miss is that stat that shows how many starting QB's the Packers have the last 16 years and the Bears 9999+ starting QB's in that time span. They show what on TV at every Bears Packers games.
  14. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7870944?MSNHPHMA Favre has decided to call it a career The most storied quarterback career in NFL history is coming to a close. FOXSports.com has learned that legendary quarterback Brett Favre has decided to retire. In fact, it's believed he informed the Packers of his decision within the last few days, although it's unclear when Favre and the team will make his decision known. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- G GS Comp Att Yds TD Int 257 253 5,377 8,758 61,655 442 288 So barring an unforeseen last-minute change of heart, Favre will leave the game after 17 years, during which he built himself into a household name and a figure synonymous with grit, toughness and perseverance. Neither GM Ted Thompson nor head coach Mike McCarthy returned several calls left by FOXSports.com for confirmation. After flirting with retirement for the last few years, Favre will finally go out on the heels of one of the best seasons of his career. He led the Packers to the NFC Championship Game after passing for a stunning 4,155 yards, looking very much at times like a younger version of himself. In addition he threw 28 TDs — including an overtime Hail Mary pass to beat Denver in front of a national audience — and had a 95.7 quarterback rating. He was also voted into the Pro Bowl following the 2007 season but declined to go. Favre leaves the game as the all-time record holder in several categories including wins, passing yards, touchdowns and consecutive games started. A three-time MVP, The southern swashbuckler won fans over with his carefree style that epitomized the "gunslinger" moniker and made fans out of everyone from the guy next door to those already enshrined in Canton. If in fact, Favre does not have a change of heart, his final pass of a Hall of Fame Career was an interception by the Giants' Corey Webster, setting up New York's overtime win in the NFC title game. For the last few years, the question of whether or not Favre was going to retire has been the most debated topic during the off-season. Two years ago he let his decision linger as reports both that he was returning and that he was retiring emerged. In fact, at one point he was supposedly going to announce his retirement at his charity golf tournament. Of course, those reports ultimately proved to be false. Then after his final game of the 2006 season, a tearing and emotional Favre appeared on national TV and seemed to be bidding the game adieu. But once again, he had a change of heart and came back for what proved to be one heck of a final hurrah. This time, Favre has made his decision and will likely make it publicly known soon. However, like in the past, Favre could wake up any day now and decide to change his mind, although that doesn't seem likely at this point. The team will now shift to Aaron Rodgers, a former first-round pick, who has had few opportunities to play since being selected with the 24th overall pick in the 2005 draft. But when Favre was injured in a Thursday night game against Dallas this past season, Rodgers looked pretty good in relief. The former Cal star completed 18 of 26 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown — the first of his career — and nearly rallied the Packers to the win.
