Giants at Bears - Week 2 - Official Game Thread - 9/20, Bears -5.5, 12:00 PM CT, CBS

Featured Replies

We went from being 3 point dogs to 5.5 favorites after Week 1. This is a game we have to win.

The Steelers completely shut down Barkley (15 carries for 6 yards). They literally had 2x spies on him the entire game (and it worked). They made Jones beat them and he threw 2 INTs and was sacked 3 times. Slayton was their secret weapon with 2 TDs but the game was out of hand at 26-10, so one of those was in garbage time.

Pittsburgh was able to run using their backup RB (Snell), so that is promising for the Bears who averaged over 5 YPC against Detroit.

The Giants are playing on short rest after playing MNF at home. So they had one less day of rest and prep, plus they had to travel to Chicago.

If the Bears can shutdown Barkley, this is an easy win. I am thinking 27-19 with the Giants getting a late score to make it look closer than it was.

After this week, we have ATL, IND, TB, CAR, and LAR, all winnable games before getting NO, TEN, and MIN before the bye. I am really thinking this team could have 7 wins at the bye (7-3), but they have to win this week to have a chance. Going 5-3 in the next 8 seems very reasonable, even 4-4 puts them at 6-4 at the bye with 6 to play.

Great first drive for the Bears, nothing too crazy from Nagy, just line up and beat you. Trubisky with a nice play on the TD pass to Monty.

Bears up 7-0. Great start. Now we need the defense to shut down Barkley and get pressure on Jones.

Well well well, Robert Quinn with strip-sack and Mack with the recovery. BOOM! Bears ball at Giants 20.

Damn Trubisky with another dime to Miller, but he drops a TD pass. Trubisky looks much better. Turnover = 3 pts, I will take it.

I that wing T QB run was sort of strange the can removed from the playbook

Yes please, and welcome aboard! He still likes to get a few of those in, but last year it seemed like every play was a gadget play. I would have rather seen Trubisky throw it there (or throw away).

Defense looks much better today with Quinn in. They are getting pressure and making Jones get rid of the ball quick. Fuller with back to back PBUs to force another 3 and out.

Barkley out with an apparent knee injury. You hate to see it, but now there are no excuses to losing this game.

I really hate seeing Barkley get hurt, but I am glad he is gone and I hope he does not return today...

Now Monty lands on his head. Great...... He is more than likely out the rest of the game.

Return is questionable.

More touches for Patterson,  Hope Monty is good for next week if he can't return.

Trubisky with 2 INTs in the second half, not all his fault, but man, offense not helping the defense right now.

Mack with a huge sack unblocked, wow.

Damn, EJack with a Pick-6 which turned into a pass interference penalty on 3rd Down. Wow, what a huge momentum swing.

17-13 after a Giants FG. Offense has done absolutely nothing in the 2nd half. Setting up to lose this one 20-17.

That interception for the giants should have been PI. Defender was all over the receiver and never once turned his head. That make the one we get a TD in taken away worse. The defender has as much right to the ball as the receiver. It gets maddening watching us get screwed

Monty running hard, some nice blocks by O-Line, but then they get too predictable and are left with a long 3rd Down. Trubisky shaky.

What a shit show, zero confidence in Trubisky's ability to make decisions after the snap. You have to go to Foles after this game, win or lose.

And of course, Santos misses a 50-yd FG. Kicked it left and it barely moved. How about aim center? WTF.

At the 2 minute warning, Giants have a 2nd and 10 at their 40. It is all on the defense now, don't allow a TD and Bears win. Allow a TD and we lose. It is that easy.

Yeah, officials have been questionable today. Ifedi chop blocked his own guy. That is not a penalty.
