May 23, 200817 yr comment_39440 Cedric Bensen In Court For Speeding On the Edens CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Now it's a speeding ticket that sends Cedric Benson to court. The Bears running back paid a $510 fine and received four months supervision, for chugging a little too quickly through the Edens Expressway construction zone last month. Bensen was pulled over going 77 mph in a 45 mph zone when he was pulled over after 3 a.m. last month, police say. Earlier this month Bensen was arrested on a drinking-related charge in Austin, Texas. Benson failed a sobriety test while operating a 30-foot boat on Lake Travis near Austin and resisted arrest before being hit with pepper spray, Travis County Sheriff's Department spokesman Roger Wade said. Benson believes Texas officers used excessive force against him and plans to fight charges that he operated a boat while intoxicated and resisted arrest. Local police tell WBBM Benson was alone driving an '05 BMW with Texas plates and was cooperative. The officer didn't know Benson was a Bear, until yesterday in court. Report
May 23, 200817 yr comment_39443 77 in a 45? Sounds about right. That's not how ya'll drive up there? Down here, speed limits are more of a suggestion. We suggest you drive this speed, but feel free to go as fast as your car can take you. School zones are the exception. Report
May 24, 200817 yr comment_39449 That's normal in construction zones here in Phoenix unless people will get out of my way. Report
May 24, 200817 yr comment_39456 Wow, they can't even spell his name correct. He probably thought mph were kph since it was a BMW. Report
