Of Miami's five unrestricted free agents, Carey and safety Yeremiah Bell were the most significant. The Dolphins on Thursday opted not to place the franchise tag on either of them, increasing the likelihood they would hit the open market on Feb. 27. But the Dolphins locked up Carey less than 24 hours later. Carey, the 19th overall selection in the 2004 draft, has started 59 straight games for the Dolphins. He started at right tackle for two years and was moved to the left side for 2007. Realistic options of finding a player better then him in free agency are becoming few & far between. Stacy Andrews is questionable because of injury. Based on the ESPN rankings, the only two free agents who are considered better then St. Clair, who aren't close to 40, and who aren't restricted are Jon Stinchcomb and Kahlif Barnes. With the assload of money the Bears have to spend, and the few quality free agents there are to spend it on, I'm surprised Bear fans are more pissed that we don't seem to be making a move to resign St. Clair. IMHO I would rather draft the right players and get lower priced FA than to blow the wad on one player and not address all the needs we have.If you can get three good players for the price of one great player you have a better deal and team.
