Even though he was better than the Omiyale signing the Bears made when he left...that's really not a signing that would make the Bears better next year.

 

I disagree. St. Claire is without a doubt better than Omiyale. He would make the Bears immediately better. How much better I can't say, mostly because St. Claire isn't exactly a stud, but he is definitely a step, or more, up from Omiyale.

St. Clair sucks in pass protection, even going back to the last time he was on the Bears. If I'm remembering right, he was near the bottom of the league in sacks allowed that year: he gave up 10 or 12 sacks, which is worse than Omiyale this year. I doubt he's gotten better in pass pro since then.

St Clair gave up those sacks back when we were all about 3 and 5 step drops. Now when most drops are 5 steps and Martz would like to have an Oline capable of handling 7 step drops I can't see St. Clair succeeding.
