Martz Claims Bears O Could Be Ready In One Day

Featured Replies

Martz interviewed recently claims that the O could be ready in one day if need be for HOF game.He bases his assessment on the fact that they don't really set up game plans for preseason games and it would be basically looking at personnel and correcting things execution-wise.

This contradicts Devin Hester's comments saying it would take about a week and a half and is also contrary to the league and the player's associations sense of urgency to try and get a deal agreed upon by the Owner's meeting in Atlanta on July 21.

Mike Martz's comments are one reason why some head coaches don't like assistants talking to the media. I still remember his Jay Cutler "Body Language" comments on the NFL network. Mike just coach the offens and figure a way to keep the QB on his feet for a change.

There is the matter of being ready to run plays versus being ready to get hit. I agree that the players need a couple weeks to get in the flow of things and prepare for full contact.

I remember watching Dallas play last year in the HOF game. Tony Romo took 4 snaps, mostly handed off, and was pulled. For the HOG game, there's no game-planning.

This is a glorified practice with a bunch of guys who've spent their lives playing football. You need 2 minutes to prepare.

It'll be ugly, won't accomplish a damn thing, and we'll get a heavy dose of Nathan Emberle in a televised practice, but who gives a damn? The sack-man's a HOFer.
