flea 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2010 http://www.illinoisloyalty.com/GoIllini/20...ern_vs_illinois Danger looms in the east endzone of Wrigley Field for Northwestern vs Illinois Posted by Dan O'Brien on November 14, 2010 11:31 PM I have a hard time believing that the person who ultimately made the decision to hang that goalpost from the brick right field wall at Wrigley Field...leaving virtually ZERO room past the end line...has ever even seen an American football contest. Seriously. Who would do that? Why did they move the traditional gridiron placement in the first place? For 48 years (1922-1970) the Chicago Bears played home games at Wrigley Field with the sideline running parallel to the Cubs dugout/3rd base line and the end zone in left field (shown below)...leaving at least some extra room beyond the end line. What genius came up with the new configuration?
