  2. Doing some stat comparisons, it really is hard to find a way for the Bears to not have a top 10 offense. If Johnson's offense only brings last year's offense halfway to his annual totals (for EPA/Play), then when you nudge it further considering the offensive roster upgrades (Thuney, Dalman, Jackson, Loveland, Burden), it could easily be a top 5 unit.
  3. Today
  4. They have the Bears as the 4th best OL
  5. For sure, on the wait-and-see. There are way too many offseason champions that never work out. I remember the Philly Dream Team that flamed out. That was pretty funny. On Davis though. He had a ton of red flags, more so than any FA the Bears signed or traded for this year. I would say the biggest question mark is Dayo and that is just because his contract value. Also, as much as every team has a goal for the Super Bowl, I think the Bears are at least one more year away from being perennial contenders. I think that is where the wait and see is for me. I know they will be improved, but I just don't know by how much.
  6. THe reason I keep saying wait to see it in pads, is that we've made all the moves on paper, and now we have to see if they are what we hope they are. Once we can evaluate everyone, then is the next opportunity to look at free agents and trades. This is true for every team every year. Around this time of year it gets quiet, and then during or after camp, it heats up again, and that makes good sense. So it would be foolish to say that we are riding with Swift as HB1, or that we are happy with our pass rush, or that we are keeping everyone. Albert Breer just said this, and it tracks right along with how teams operate at this time of year. Not just the Bears in 2025, but all of them every year. "They'll get a look at D'andre Swift and Roschon Johnson at running back, and Montez Sweat and Dayo Odeyingbo (who plays some inside on passing downs) on the edges when the pads go on, and then maybe consider guys such as Jamaal Williams at running back or Za'darius Smith or Matthew Judon as edge rushers" It makes sense and it's logical, and we see it every year. Also during this period of time the hype machine is all that can get eyeballs, so we hear a lot about how good players are going to be in new situations, but until you see it on the grass, it's not real. Take Nate Davis for example. His film was great, and his measurables were too - but we heard rumors about his heart not being in it. Blog boys would tell you that the Bears OL was SET, but when we saw it on the grass last year, it was anything but. We will know more about who we really have in August, and then changes come with the next trade window and cut days.

  8. here, maybe this helps, since its a sportswriter and not someone this board, since that seems to make a difference? https://sports.yahoo.com/article/jets-reporter-says-bears-steelers-201302283.html its written down! now it must be true!
  9. just as I thought - you got sucked into some ridiculous video where the creators did it for clicks. Use your OWN brain man! Watch some film! Dont let them convince you the Emperor is wearing fine clothes! Anyone simply watching the games can see that Fields is awful. THe only way to come to the conclusion that Fields is good is to turn over control of your own opinions to sports commentators that are trying to generate clicks.
  10. I am not sitting on his history in the league and saying he played great. He has flaws but I think he is getting better. As far as teams passing on him, its about teams that have either estasblished QBs or prospects in place that are CHEAPER options. I am not the only one that thinks he could eventually be a starting QB in the league ( of which he is). Your great evalutions include Jayden Daniels isnt very good. Kingsbury kept the passsing game simple and used his legs that is one of his strengths. If he has a coach that plays him similiar to Daniels he can have success in the league. We got rid of him because we had a better option that was cheaper for several yrs. Pitts bailed on him, not arguing that . When we drafted Loveland, you right away wanted to trade Kmet and say he isnt very good. Lots of people disagree with that opinion. Its about a player that has some skills and can be a starter in the league. You act like I am making him a pro bowl player. Caleb had some of the same problems last year that Justin had, holding the ball to long and not reading the field right. I think Caleb will get better and have a pro bowl type year but if you go by this year, he still has to prove it. You say stupid stuff like I think Flus was a great coach, knowing I never said that. I supported him while he was our coach and then he exposed himself so I moved on. You were right about Flus and cudos for that. I was a big fan of Justin while he was our QB, as soon as he left, I jumped on board with Caleb as he became our new QB. Other people on this forum liked Justin but you never beat them up with their opinion but I am not the only one here that wishes him well. When I have a different opinion than yours you always look to blow that up , have fun. Then you always get personal. (Its truly astounding. I dont understand why you arent embarrassed.) I will say one thing, you are very good at loving yourself.

  12. LOL every team passed on Fields when he was available for trade until we took a 6th rounder for him LOL Then the Steelers got to know him, tried to teach him. The result? They got rid of him. He was accepted by the Jets, notoriously known for their terrible QB evaluations. He will sell tickets and jerseys to people like you who dont understand how ineffective he is as an NFL QB. And he will help them lose games so they can replace him with a high pick rookie next year. Will they bench him in my scenario? Hell no! Fields will help them rack up the losses to get that higher pick. The Arch Manning sweepstakes. And after that, will any team want Fields as a starter? Nope. Know why? Because he sucks. The question here is how the hell you get so attached that you cant see the obvious truth that the entire league sees. I assume you think Eberflus will be a great head coach some day too. Its truly astounding. I dont understand why you arent embarrassed.
  13. I guess NFL teams dont use your evaluations in making decisions for rosters. He was 4-2 last year and did okay with his stats. The NY Jets signed him to be their starting QB. If he is terrible as your opinion suggests then, he will be benched by midseason and your opinion will be spot on. If he is getting better and lands somewhere between 15-20 rankings at QB then my comments that I think he is getting better will carry some weight. For me their are 4 tiers of QBs Great- above average- average and poor. He will never be great but if he continues to get better, he could move to above average. It seems your only two tiers are good or bad. He is not bad.
  14. Im not sure surprise applies to Klyle Gordon but I think the way DA has talked about using him in different roles, he will have a pro bowl in the future. Leads the team in interceptions and will have 5 or 6 sacks. I think Dayo is a perfect fit for DAs defense and will get us 8-10 sacks.
  15. Well wins is one thing, the offense humming is another, and Calebs growth yet another. I think we could win games like vs McCarthy without having our shit together. And I think we could lose to the Eagles even if we are playing well. So getting wins is one thing. But the offense gelling and Caleb looking calm and in rhythm will be the name of the game. I totally agree with what you guys have said, that if anyone ever had the pieces in place to grow, it's Williams on this team. There is every reason, barring injuries, to expect more than average from this group this year. it might take a minute to truly get into rhythm, and we may even win some games and still not be in rhythm. But that's what this year is for as much as anything - to become a top 10 offense, and do it consistently, down to down, game to game. Id like to see that consistency for the second half of the season, and I wanna see spurts of it int he first four weeks that become gradually more sustained. if we can accomplish that goal this year, then the real championship window opens next year. Not that we cant possibly gel early this year and make a run, but the likely schedule looks like that to me.
  16. He has got recognition from BJ, I can root for that. Always a fan for the underdogs. He has the athleticism and it takes time to get the body which looks like he nailed. My guy right now is Tremaine Edmunds. Moving him to Will gives him more flexibility and DA likes to be creative. I see him being a big moment sack man. Edmunds has enough size 6'5 250, to line up at edge too. I see them moving him there from time to time with Hippolite and Edward's able to cover nickle/dime.
  17. adam

    Goff vs Williams

Yeah, and the first 4 games are somewhat favorable. MIN at home against McCarthy to open the season, then to DET (short travel), back home against DAL, then out to LVR. Opening Day MNF on the road for your first start is pretty tough, so I think the Bears have the edge there. With DET, I think that game becomes a toss up because of the coaching staff turnover on both sides, and the unknown health of Hutchinson. DAL has a new coaching staff with Flus as the DC, then the Raiders.
  18. adam

    Goff vs Williams

Yeah, absolutely. The only thing that could stop Williams now is an injury. There is no way he could put up 3,500 passing yards in the shit show last year and some how not hit 4K doing the exact same thing. Everything around him improved, and in some areas, a lot. Coaching and O-Line upgrades are so big they are hard to quantify. That is in addition to still adding top end skill position players in Loveland and Burden. Because of the skill position depth with little drop off, I could see the Bears really blowing teams out in the 4th quarter where their skill guys still have fresh legs and the DBs have been on the field the entire time.
  19. DomRob. He is in a contract year, new DC and HC, improved DT rotation will draw attention away from him. He won't have a Pro Bowl year, but I can see him getting 5-6 sacks, which would be 2-3x his career total.
  20. We are in the quiet period of Bears talk since most beat writers are taking vacations while coaches and players are doing the same before camp. It is a good time to make your predictions on players who surprise or emerge in this new DA scheme. Let your imagination out and lets hear who your player is and some reasons why.
  21. you're absolutely crazy. just watch the tape. honestly if you think Fields is good, then your opinion on everything is wroth questioning. now I know, people have different opinions on things and thats cool. When I say I think Fields in the open field is similar to Hester, thats an opinion. Its all well and good for someone else to say they dont agree. Its not a fact, its an opinion. Most of what's said on here is opinion. And thats cool. But Fields is terrible. Thats a FACT. It's already been proven. What I couldnt believe was the idea that you were arguing that Fields has already been PROVEN GOOD. That the idea that Fields is bad hasnt aged well. LOL. Did Pittsburgh keep him? I dont think you know how to watch football, I really dont. I think you just regurgitate what idiots like Greg Gabriel and Pat the Designer and Swifty say. Its ridiculous. Put down the kool aid and just watch some film - it isnt hard. You can see how players play with your own eyes. You dont have to be a genius either, thankfully. You would have kept Fields. You would have kept Eberflus. Dude, you need to rethink your football life.
  22. How many times are you going to repeat yourself? Everyone knows how youl feel. He has not been the man yet but that doesnt mean he cant get better and be a NFL starter. Its okay to have different opinions. Last year he improved his completion pct and QB rating. He improved his pocket time from 2.8 seconds to 2.5. His on target accuracy improved from 73% to 75%. For comparison purpose Calebs was 72.4%. Its funny you post stats to tell me how bad he is but when I post stats they dont mean anything. My whole point is I think he is getting better and IS a starting QB in the league.
  23. Dude, Fields SUCKS. That rating means nothing, when he hardly threw the ball. 2,500 yards is the best he ever did! This goes far beyond optimism - it's rainbows and unicorns.
  24. I think by our bye week we should start to get on a roll with a successful offense. There will be some good and bad moments in our first 4 games, but that is to be expected.
  25. Since you are always predicting failure for Fields, we get to watch him be a starting QB in the NFL. The proof is in the pudding. Last year he had a 93.3 QB rating. Caleb was 87.8 . I am saying he is good enough to start in the NFL and keep repearting that I do not think he is in the top 15. He will finish between 15th. and 20th. You seem to only have two opinions on QBs (star or bust) the real world does have a sliding scale. We both know our own opinions and this year will show where he fits. Here he played for a lousy coaching group and bad OL. In Pitt he shared the QB spot. Believe it or not players can get better with more experience and finding the right fit. Geno Smith, Sam Darnold are examples of QBs playing better after shaky starts.
