  1. Any team that makes it far during the playoffs is going to be a team that can handle a heavy pass rush, through some combination of the QB's play and the play of the O-Line. Aside from the officiating, the main reason no one could stop the Steelers last year was that no one could stop their pass rush - go back to those games against the Broncos, Colts, the Steelers won those games by being all over the QB's and forcing them to make mistakes. It doesn't matter who takes the blame. If the Bears can't find a way to get the ball out of the QB's hands before the rush gets there, at the same time as getting very little rush on the opposing QB, they will lose in the playoffs.
  2. Anyone else think that Grossman's hand was bothering him for most of the last 3 quarters of the game?
  3. The talk thus far keeps saying that Fisher, because of his record, is going to want top-dollar in his new contract, something like $5 mil a year or so, and the Titans probably won't want to give it to him. There's been some talk that if Parcells were to retire, Fisher might have a good shot at the Cowboys job.
  4. But, as last weekend might have taught us, he's starting to learn how to balance those two. It usuall takes an NFL QB somewhere between 16-32 starts to learn it well. Last week, Grossman was under pressure for a lot of the game, didn't have great chances to make big throws, and he held onto them & threw some short incompletions rather than medium/long length interceptions.
  5. Well, one interesting note is that there might not be a ton of head coaching vacancies this offseason. I could be wrong of course, but what, there were nearly 10 of them filled last season? The Cards will clearly have a vacancy this offseason, there will be a few surprising ones (there's a reasonable shot that Jeff Fisher will be moving out of TN), but there might not be a huge number of openings.
  6. So, by any way you look at it, Grossman did not have a good day today. -1 yards passing in the first half, only a handful of completions, and the touchdown came about almost entirely because of a nice move by the receiver. Now, a negative person might look and say that Grossman has had 3 bad games in his last 5. But today, while not being a good game, was also not a bad game. Why? Because the last 2 games Grossman struggled, he gave up a ton of INT's. Grossman was not crisp today, was under a lot of pressure, and didn't complete a lot of the passes he should have. But when he missed, he did not miss into the hands of a Jet. If Grossman's bad games go from being a ton of INT's to him being a little too conservative and missing a few too many passes, he'll just keep getting better.
  7. So, my conclusion after today is that Brian Griese needs to replace Eli Manning.
  8. 8-1 is not good enough! Brian Griese >>> Peyton Manning!
  9. It's all practice for Indy from here on out.
  10. Big stop there, no matter how the FG Goes.
  11. I know, it's just that about 90% of the times its called it doesn't seem like the actual tackle that TO got hurt on.
  12. I fishing hate that rule. It's so damn impossible to actually call.
  13. Ding ding ding ding. Every offensive line likes to run the ball. You're much less likely to turn the ball over when you're running it. You have an ungodly strong defense. And you're paying 2 running backs who would be top-of-the-line running backs on other teams. Put the ball on the ground.
  14. I think Greise should be returning punts.
  15. When the Bears losing streak hits a lot more than 1 game, that's for darn sure.
  16. I think 2 years ago or so, when Urlacher was hurt most of the year, and it seemed like he was declining from some great early years...you could legitimately say he was overrated. But seriously, hasn't he just been killing everyone for the last 2 years now?
  17. The Bears defense in 2005 with Mike Brown on the Field was the best in the NFL. Without Brown on the field, it took a giant step backwards.
  18. Wow, look at these end-of-game stats. Chi Az 1st Downs 9 17 Total Yards 168 286 Passing 134 220 Rushing 34 66 Penalties 6-50 9-65 3rd Down Conversions 4-14 6-20 4th Down Conversions 0-1 0-0 Turnovers 6 2 Possession 20:12 39:43
  19. If I hadn't had to cancel my DirecTV today, I think I'd have enjoyed this game.
  20. Indy's next 5 games: Home against Washington At Denver At New England Home against Buffalo At Dallas Bears At Arizona Bye Home against San Fran Home against Miami At Ny Giants Now seriously, even without considering that the Colts have the worst run defense in the NFL, which of those looks like it's going to be harder? And then, throw in the fact that the Colts have the worst run defense in the NFL, and that Dallas, Denver, New England, and Washington are the #3, 4, 5, and 6 running teams in the NFL right now...and I think the only th ing that beats the Bears is the Dolphins being helped by Hurricane Ditka.
  21. • After scoring the final 17 points in last week's rout of the Seahawks, the Bears took a 40-0 lead over the Bills in Sunday's 40-7 victory. It was the second time this season that Chicago scored at least 50 unanswered points. The last three teams to record two such streaks in the same season all went on to win the Super Bowl: the Steelers in 2005, the Ravens in 2000, and the 49ers in 1994. • The Bears have posted four wins by 25 or more points during their 5-0 start. The only other team in NFL history with four 25-point wins after five games was the 1941 Bears, who were coming off a 73-0 win over the Redskins in the 1940 NFL championship game and went on to win another title in 1941.
