  1. Sorry! I didn't mean to come off irritated! I was just saying, I was using more the "eyeball test" evaluating Hester's contribution to the team more than pure stats. ...and you are right, Cutler did spread the ball around. And I agree that he looked much better last year than the year previous. Hester is a threat, but I just feel he is not a "go to" guy. I follow what you're saying about Johnson and Housh. I thnk we still need to find the Johnson to our Housh. I'm hoping that guy is Aromashodu....
  2. That stats are appreciated. But I watch every game. Hester is such a physical talent, that his lack of knowing the position and its nuances are made up for by raw talent. However, that has a ceiling, and I think he's hit it. I'm not arguing he put up numbers like a #1. Chad Johnson is a #1. Chad runs better routes, etc... He is a full on WR. Hester is a speedy guy with a lot of effort trying to be a #1 giving it his all. It's not the same. I love hester. But I'd rather see him returning all kickas and contributing to the offense slightly less. I think Aromashodu is the more balanced and prototype WR, that given the chance most were calmmoring for, would put up similar if not better numbers than Hester's.
  3. That's just silly... He was on target to potentially be the best return man in the history of professional football. It's a fact. So, anything that diminishes that should be questioned.
  4. I'm thiking half those picks were Hester's fault for not running correct routes...
  5. Basically agreed. hester had some good numbers. But by default. No one else other than Knox was out there to catch balls. Also, not mentioned are all the wrong route running and potential cause of a number of Cutler's turnovers... He's a decent NFL receiver. Far from solid. He is like Hakim. Nice for a big gainer every now and then, but not a go to guy. I NICE compliment to a real WR.
  6. Please... I'll never feel sorry for him and his millions... He had his chance. In fact, numerous chances.
  7. I expect him to be signed for us any day now then...
  8. I'll believe where Melton and Gilbert line up once the first game hits. Until them, Smith's sure to musical chair them like Manning, etc. I agree they did it to save money, I just don't believe that $5M is that substantial given all else. Especially in an uncapped year. I honestly wouldn't mind the cut if this team was bent on the future. But everything reeks of "right now" that it just makes little sense to me. Man, do we have holes... I have no problem giving the youth a chance. (Not sure there's much choice either...) But a chance is what it is. It could prove to be a bust.
  9. I just think everyone is missing the fact that there is no cap. Keeping him for $5mil isn't that big a deal. Anderson, Izzy are OK in spot duty. Who the hell knows what Melton and Gilbert can do since our coaching staff is too stupid to put them in more often... It's a gamble I feel. One that was unnecessary, and one that I feel we will lose. Maybe they will finally get one gamble right after all these years. The odds are not in our favor.
  10. I'm with you chitownman... It reeeks of money saving in a year where it's not needed.
  11. Wrong item shaken... Wasn't removing Ogun and adding Peppers enough of a shake up? Why not keep him, there is no cap, and rotate more heavily?
  12. Man, doth trust in Pompei too much! He used to have cred, but now he seems to be selling used cars for the Mccaskey's....
  13. Any worse than McKie? Maybe not him...I just keep thinking of a guy like the raiders had years ago...I think Crockett? Nothing special but a bruiser that could fall forward and gain 1 yard with ease. Mayber Taylor can do that. But no other guy on our roster had proven he can.
  14. Like a TJ Duckett kind of guy? Speaking of which, isn't he available?
  15. Could all this be some kind of posturing by management with their eyes on looking at next year with the cap back? Seems to me teams want to unload right now w/o penalty. Most these contracts are either 1 or 2 years remaining that I read about from most teams that are cutting players. I wonder if the consensus is that the cap will be back and get your free cuts in while you can...?
  16. Honestly, I do not trust Bungelo to draft.... Getting a 2nd this year mortgaging the future yet again will hinder the potential for a real GM once one arrives. Assuming the McCaskey's don't blow it again. Which is a hell of an assumption, I know.
  17. Until that waste of space is officially off the payroll, I cannot relent...
  18. Not saying we should sepnd it, just saying we could. Apparently, we don't want to. At least not yet. Seems to me they should. Everything they are doing is screaming "now". Peppers is "now". Asking for a vet back-up to Cutler is "now" Getting a cometent RB is "now". Getting a blocking TE is "now". Waiting to draft OL, S, etc in the 3rd, 4th, etc...is the future. Zombie and Bungelo can't afford to wait. They need to hit the post-season this year, or they hopefully will be fired.
  19. Farewell Alex... Thank you for all the hard work & honesty over the years. You will always be a Bear to me. Good luck...

  21. Really...is this Sims guy that good? I don't recall a stellar running game for the last few years there. Nor QB protection.
  22. Babich was fired? I thought he was just demoted to LB coach.
