  1. Thanks for the info. Although it does kind of sound like if we want him baddlly enough, he can be had.
  2. Am I wrong, but can't we just throw money at Atogwe? The Rams can match, but at a certian point, I imagine they'll bow out. It may be costly, but I htnk we're still in a good financial spot regardless.
  3. 100% agreed. Our scheme is so piss poor, that unless we get the superb rush from the front 4, I'm convinced we will be picked apart just like the past few seasons...
  4. Let's all shoot for a lottery win too!
  5. I honestly do not know. I just don't like it. I don't believe we'll get value. Especially with the cat let out of the bag... And I don't like not having a proven end opposite Peppers.
  6. Heard those too... I just figure someone else out there will outbid us for Atogwe regardless.
  7. Atogwe is on his way to Philly for Mcnabb... Or so rumors have it.
  8. I don't like this... Brown isn't making that much money and he's been so consistent for so many years. I think Zombie Sith just doesn't like that he speaks his mind and is one of the only ones in the locker room that tells the truth. It'll be a sad day if they let Brown go. I have a feeling we'll get nothing for him and watch him succeed elsewhere.
  9. Sure, the last 2 minutes of the game. No?
  10. he players union will argue regarless what Florio or anyone else thinks. How successful they will be is debatable. But I am certain they will fight this in some manner in order to gain something in eaither dollars or some other concession from owners. The rules are very different. There will be more time on the field. Before, you could stop at the 30 and kick a FG. Now you will be inclinded to go for firsts to get the TD to end it. Thus resulting on more time on the field and more time to get a potential injury. All it will take is for poseterboy Favre to actually get hurt for once in such a scenario and watch the sheep come flocking in to say we need to go back to the old way!
  11. Tails never fails. Not my point. Point is after the flip occurs. The game is the same as it's always been. Now, it's different by a HUGE margin.
  12. Because, you play football as normal. You get ball, you score, you win. You don't get ball. You stop team with ball. You get ball, you score, you win. Taking the ball with the coin flip win is an easy decision. It's always best to try to score on O vs D unless you're hte 2006 Bears. Simple. No "Well you can score a FG, but it kind of doesn't count, so even though you have more points, you don't win with a FG until Jimmy down the street gets a chance to play to. And then on every 3rd Sunday, you can have a safety, but not unless you get an onsides and get 9 points...yadda yadda yadda" It just skews the overall strategy. Who gives a F who wins the coin flip. Know your role. Play it well, and you will probably win regardless of who won the flip or not. Why are you so for this now vs 10 yeqars ago? Where were the rallying cries then? Bottom line. This is pansy-ass... Sorry, just my personal opinion. it's the continued neutering of the NFL, and I do not like it. I, apparently, am in the minority. It's not the first time, and won't be the last. Note to first timers: I am old. And I am old school. I like the game how it was played. How it was MEANT to be played. Not this neutered crap. Ask the players...something tells me they feel more like me than Goodell. I could be wrong. But that would truly surprise me unless they were paid more for this garbage.
  13. I don't fail to see that all elements of the game have improved, let alone kicking. And if the kicking is so great, why can't the kicker boot it in the end zone and make the other team march futher? Don't get me started on the kickoff position...yet another lame rule that shoudn't have been changed. It's a philosophy. Either you agree with sudden death or you don't. This new mish-mosh of both is beyond lame. Either give teams equal chances or don't. I think college, while silly, at least gets that part right. If you're going to do it, don't be a wuss. Do it. The NFL is wussing out. Bringing up King only infuriates me more! He's a Favre apologist and overall blow-hard...
  14. That is a fascinating element to this. Also that the vote was moved up a day to purposefully exclude coaches. I have no issue that the owners want it and should get it. It's their product. They can ruin it as they see fit. But coaches, players, and fans do not have to like it. I'll be railing against this anytime it's brought up. 3 point stance is next. Then comes no touching of WR's. Then come the flags...
  15. Ick. It's fine for college as scores are like the Arena league half the time with very little defense played on most occassions. It destroys the strategy pof the game completely. This is chess, not checkers. (Although to Smith it is, so it'd probably do us good.) All elements to the game need to be set in play for it to not be a lame soccer shoot out.
  16. It's not. It just alludes to the slippery slop nature of the neutering of the NFL that's been going on for years now. I prefer to be judge, jury and executioner on this matter. I don't like it philisophically. I don't need to see it in practice to make that decision. I like it for college. College is just that. I like my NFL old school as possible.
  17. Why was it so broken that it needed fixing? How many games go into OT? What are the exact percentages of winning the coin flip and winning the game through various parts of history? Based on fina; season statndings,etc...what should the outcomes of those games really should have been? My bet is that you'll find none of it would have made a difference. Change isn't good for change's sake. Why were you not up in arms over this for the past decade? Just saying.... I'm not rying to be argumentative. I just don't think it was needed in the least.
  18. I'm assuming all of that are lies. As usually what spews out of Smith's mouth are...
  19. Ick! Maybe I'm the only one that thinks this is a stupid idea. There are not that many OT games. A little more than 59% isn't that huge of a margin. Reactive. Lord Favre, the Mighty Manning, and Brawny Brday didn't get chances to score. Waa!!!! Let's change the rules for our goddesses! F that! I'm sticking to my guns. This was a rule change that didn't need to happen. Change the kicoff spot back to the 35. Again a rule that was f'ed with that didn't need to change. Mamby pamby crapola. When I walked to school, it was in a ice storm, a hundred miles, no shoes, ...(insert crotchety old man jokes here)
  20. I'll be curious how the player union responds... This could be an interesting element in the CBA... Goodell says it isn't part of it, but I somehow doubt that the point is over.
  21. I hate it. Totally utterly hate it. Why don't we just make TD's = 10 points? How about you only need 9 yards for a first down? Please, it wasn't broken. There was no need to fix it. At the end we can hand out trophies for everyone for effort! yay! F this weak s&$t. Yep. I'm old school. And I ain't budgin'.
  22. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...arter/#comments Lovie Smith says Matt Forte will be the starter Posted by Mike Florio on March 24, 2010 9:10 AM ET Bears running back Matt Forte will earn a base salary of $470,000 in 2010. Newcomer Chester Taylor will be paid $7 million as part of the three-year, $12.5 million contract. But coach Lovie Smith said at Wednesday's NFC coaches' breakfast that Forte will be the starter, per Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times. That said, Smith added that there will be "competition." Given the eventual contents of Taylor's W-2 form for the current year, that "competition" could be tilted in favor of the veteran who defected from Minnesota.
