  1. Oh, it's always about money to some degree! Enough loot, and anyone can be bought for the most part! They can say that, and still get rid of Fewell. The reality of the situation is that this franchise is in lame duck mode, and it's obvious to the entire football world except to those who run the team.
  2. You sure it was really about money? The Giants are in a better overall position than the Bears. They have WR's, QB, RB's, a decent line, a good defense. It kind of just fell apart fro them this past season. People say Coghlin is on the hot seat, and he probably is. But there is no seat hotter than Smith's. And Coughlin has one thing Smith doesn't. A Lombardi under his belt. Against the evil empire at that...
  3. It's a video...if I mention too much, it'll ruin the surprise. It is safe for work. I had no problem on a T-1. Could be the site is getting a lot of hits at the moment...
  4. As you infer...it's simply the result of a poor management decision to retain the morons in charge. I don't want to use the term "stooges" because I love the real Three Stooges and the band The Stooges too much to link the clowns running the Bears to those artistic greats.
  5. Could this be more evidence of Smith monolithic ego? Thinking Fewell was such a "pal", that he'd just take the job? This is turning into a comedy fast. I'm getting visions of the McGuinness fiasco!
  6. I'd say that's credible! Lame duck syndrome.
  7. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...r-escape-to-ut/ Lovie would be wise to consider escape to UT Posted by Mike Florio on January 14, 2010 7:59 AM ET In 2008, the folks at the University of Tennessee reached out to Bears coach Lovie Smith to gauge his interest in becoming the head coach at the program where Smith worked in 1993 and 1994. Smith declined. Now, the UT job is open again -- and Smith will be occupying one of the hottest of the hot seats in Chicago when the 2010 season starts. Frankly, it might be in everyone's best interests for Smith to pursue the opportunity, unless he has no interest in leading a college program. The Bears undoubtedly would have cleaned house at Halas Hall but for the buyout obligations to Smith and G.M. Jerry Angelo. With Smith's ability to stick around for 2011 riding on the performance of quarterback Jay Cutler and mounting uncertainty regarding a work stoppage after next season, heading to Knoxville makes plenty of sense, especially if his compensation from the Volunteers would be enhanced by a partial buyout from the Bears.
  8. It all makes a difference who's running the circus. Our big top is run by the clowns obviously, vs a real ringmaster... Candidates are seeing through the last PR debacle. They know what's going on. Lame duckiness = suckiness. How's that for brilliant dialog!

  10. Until the 3 stooges are gone (or at least the bottom 2), very little top quality will come our way...
  11. Can't argue with most your points. I'm just not sure about Vasher. I think we're so thin at CB, that you just hold the guy as insurance. The overall cost isn't that horrid. Maybe you even restructure... But I could also see him gone for the reasons you mention. I see him solely as an insurance policy. With all the loot they saved keeping our horrific staf in place, they can easily afford Vasher!
  12. Not to sound too negative (I know I've been on a roll with that lately...), but I really have a hard time getting around to knowing what will happen with players right now. There is just too much in the air. 1. CBA 2. New coordinators Thos 2 elements make it a bit difficult to really speculate other than for sh*ts & giggles. But for sh*ts & giggles, I think the departures of note could very well be the following (I'm not accounting for any potential trades because that is virtually impossible to predict) 1. Mark Anderson - shown too little to date 2. Adawale Ogunleye - good for his time here, but getting older and didn't do enough this year to warrant keeping him, unless at a bargain rate 3. AP - Love him and his guttiness, but I think his days are numbered. We need a more legit RB in the mix. ST or not... I think we hold onto the LB crew...they all did OK last year. Roach, Williams and Pisa will probably be offered inexpensive deals. Any of those that don't take it will probably seek employment elsewhere. I really don't see any more cuts. We simply don't have the picks, nor the FA availability to make for a lot of change.
  13. Great points Lucky! ...a fun read as well.
  14. I like it in theory. But unfortunately, it's just thoery right now. Until we see a venture from Smith's Smith-y-ness, I can't truly think that Fewell will make a huge difference. But, as far as a guy we could realistically get...I don't mind the choice of him. But, I also have alterior motives!
  15. I had the Jets too... Oh well, couldn't happen to a better franchise.
  16. Interesting points.... I still beg to differ on risk vs return. I'm not sure how much Seteve Jobs, Hugh Hefner, etc knew they were risking, nor how much they'd gain. But I do realize that today's NFL isn't quite what it was back in the day. Maybe due to the extreme fan loyalty, rev sharing,etc...any boycott may not really matter. But, it'll help me. I readily know that Chicago fans are the world's best. We go and support teams that, really, don't deserve such loyalty! (See the Cubs...) Henceforth, why I'd never ask a fan to give up season tickets. I know I wouldn't. I can't go for the "Serenety Now"... Bottling it up just doesn't work! Didn't work for Llyod Braun, Frank Costanza or Cosmo Kramer! But, in all honesty, I am kind of doing that. I'm attempting to have an impact on the one thing I can impact. That's not going to a single game (as I'm not a season ticket holder), not to buy merch, not to buy consessions, and to hold a light up to management's failings. I appear to be following in Don Quixote's footsteps!
