  1. Or the logical explanation: The number is retired. From wikipedia: 18 Frank Tripucka, QB, 1960-63
  2. And he's supposedly on 'roids as well. See PFT for rumour details.
  3. I just added to the reasons why Cassel was traded cheap! QFT!
  4. Don't forget the fact that the Patriots needed to get rid of one of their QBs if they didn't want to tie up 20-25% or so of their salary cap in one postition... Cassel was supposed to get $14 millions or so as a franchised QB and I believe that Brady's cap number was even higher (I'm not sure of the exact numbers here, but they are in the ballpark). IMO, that's a big incentive to trade Cassel below market value!
  5. Orton does have a strong arm. His accuracy on the long ball on the other hand... That is a completely different issue... I remember from camp last year, Kyle was reported to outthrow Rex.
  6. Dawhizz: You're right. It was the All star game and Norwood. I somehow confused with the Shrine game. Found it on Youtube:
  7. Butler was the only Penn State receiver on the roster for the Shrine Game this year so I assumed it was him. I don't remember the players name from the event, but I remember that he was from Penn State. So there where more players performing than was on the roster? http://www.shrinegame.com/rosters/84th_Eas...ical_Roster.pdf
  8. This kid got sick hands! I watched some WR exercise from the Shrine game (I believe). They used the ball throwing machines to shoot balls from 4 directions and he snapped every ball out of the air. I believe Nicks was the second best with like 3 drops out of 8. I wouldn't mind to take chance if he's available in the later rounds

Or his performance was blown up 'cause he played on a great Alabama team that received more press than they might deserve? Did you watch many Alabama games or are you going of what is written about him (not accusing you, just curious)? I am very concerned regarding his work ethic and would stay way clear of him in the draft. Here is an opinon that begs to differ regarding Smith: http://walterfootball.com/mattblog.php
  10. He has signed for one year, $1.2 million with $525,000 guaranteed. If he's a complete failure he'll be cut after TC. And best of all, he is a natural FS. I can't say it's not a at least a decent deal. No safety on the roster last year could cover anything. Sorry but that's why Mike Brown was let go into FA. Sharper is old as well and a Strong Safety. Not exactly what is needed in Chicago ATM. Edit: Full contract numbers from http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2009/03/bu..._revisited.html
  11. The guy that succesfully projects the comp. picks for the draft has posted his projections for this year. He's having us getting a 4th for Berrian (maybe a third) and 2 7th rounders for Gilmore and Ayanbadejo. Detailed explanations if you click the link. http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=307910
  12. Bears and Vikings played a preseason game in 87 here in Sweden. It was quite a big deal so even though I didn't attend the game I adopted a team to cheer for. Since most of my friends picked the Vikings (due to the Sweden-Vikings connection) I went the other way and picked the Bears. As a 10 year old boy I wasn't to fond of braids and purple... That was my choice of team even though it took me more than 15 years before I started to follow the sport(and the Bears) on a regular basis. Due to bad TV coverage (you needed cable which I didn't have when I grew up) it was basically the super bowl I watched. Every now and then I checked the results for the Bears but nothing more than that for a long while.
  13. Roy Williams as SLB? He is worse than D. Manning in coverage so why would you like to bring him as a safety in a scheme that relies on the safeties to cover someone. The problem last year on the safety position was the lack of coverage!
  14. Buenning has 23 starts for Tampa. He played well there until his injurie and Tampa had already moved on by drafting the kid out of Rutgers (Zuttah) that impressed them last year!
  15. The gunrange was very much of a joke, yes. And I belive that T.O can be quite happy for a year or two since he's be getting the ball a lot. What other targets are there? I realise that he is a cancer, but for a final hoorah it might be worth it. W/o any targets Orton will be out here within a year anyway. He started (or at least played) for the Eagles in the Super Bowl. Played lights out with a cast on his leg after breaking it six weeks earlier.
  16. Yes! As someone stated, what is there to destroy! And if he starts badmouthing Orton, Kreutz will take him out to the FBI gunrange and problem is solved!

    Who at # 18

Nicks or Britt. Britt has a higer ceiling as I see it and a slighter lower floor. I'd be excited by any of them.
  18. Try tell that to the Lions fans that are screaming for Curry or Smith when you mention drafting Stafford at no. 1 I agree with you totally on this issue. You need to take a risk on QB if you are in position to do so!

    Who at # 18

Are you kidding? DHB has bust written all over him! Inexperienced in college (very underused) and mainly hyped because of speed! He might turn out great, but I suspect he'll need a good WR environment in that case.
  20. I voted Beatty-Britt-Byrd, although I had a hard time letting Nicks go in the first round. I also thought about getting Jenkins in the first, but then he needs to commit to play FS and I'm not that sure of that prospect.
  21. I have no idea either, but I rather develop him as a FS than move a starter at CB to the FS position. His college injuires was a torn ACL that limited his playing time his junior and senior year IIRC. And then he tore his biceps this seasons. I consider those type of injuries are more of accidents than a sign of brittleness.
  22. From what I've read is that he doesn't have any character concerns per se. I.e no drugs, weapons, car chases etc. but that he relies a lot on his new family and he is not comfortable without them around. Basically he needs a very stable environment. Without it he won't perform as good as he has the ability to do. Speculations are that's why he somewhat underperformed at the Senior Bowl. I don't have any links on this, but it's my understanding after reading various draft message boards.
  23. Yeah, I'm not ready to pencil him in as a starter! But get your guy Phillips or Wilson in FA and get Bowman as a backup FS. That'll take the pressure of the draft to get a high round FS and we can focus on OL. And more OL!
  24. What about Bowman as a FS candidate? He has the size and some of the scouting I read mentioned his possibilites as a FS. Sure, he's an unknown but he's on the roster and I estimate him to be ahead of only Hamilton on the depth chart at CB.
  25. Suggs is franchised by the Ravens. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29267302/ And we need to work more on the O-line than just take an OT in the draft. Some of that money must go to a veteran. If it's St. Clair, Barnes or someone else it doesn't really matter to me, but we need another solid veteran besides Kreutz on that line, so I'd put Housh below Barnes on your list.
