Considering our other two LB's are top notch athletes this really is a nice move. Hill is the smart LB who is always in the right place at the right time. He may not be the best athlete, but he is exactly what we need on one side considering the explosiveness of the other two. Hill isn't flashy but he's a very good fit for our defense. We locked him up and my guess is this gives us a lot of protection in case Briggs leaves at the end of the year. Glad to have Hill here for a few more years.

Very interesting. Angelo likes signing this quality special teams guy and he'll be another good fit on special teams to go with Peterson, and Abayandajo (however you spell that).

Hopefully he'll be working with Grossman all season. Mushin is a tough guy who usually has golden hands so I'm expecting a much better year from him this year. Plus if Rex goes down we have a much more capable backup and Mushin should have at least a bit less pressure since Bradley/Berrian and company are a little more prepared to step up.

We could do it, but I think we'll wait till just before that way this forum gets a lot of discussion going and can stay active and all that good stuff. I think you guys under-rate Iowa, but I like things that way especially since Iowa didn't come through last year when they were a bit over-rated (luckily Heads doesn't read this forum )

I hate seeing that because Briggs is one of my favorite players and I think he's a really key part to our defense. He's one of the top OLB's in the league and while I'm sure he's partially helped by playing with Urlacher, he is still very good and very valuable. I can't comment on the contract because thats one side (and the avg is good) but maybe the guaranteed money wasn't there, who knows. Considering his agent (Rosenprick) I'd likely take the side of the Bears. Glad to see Briggs is going to report and play though and hopefully that sends enough of a message for the two sides to sit back down and get something hammered out sooner or later.

This is a really nice signing. Peterson provides very good depth and will get carries this year (cause its inevitable that someone gets hurt for at least some part of the season) and will also be a very good special teams player. In 2 years time, Peterson will probably be the main backup (especially if Benson steps up). I say that because I think there is a good chance (that if all goes well this year) that Jones will be moved next off-season.

They had quite a few major mistakes on those, but I really don't care too much. We were ranked crappy entering last season and things worked out just fine. Lets go out this season and do more of the same (except this time lets pick up some W's in the playoffs). I'm really excited for the start of football.

It includes depth, but we have one WR that has ever proven himself and that guy is an aging vet. I really have no problem with those rankings, especially since they mentioned that our guys were limited by a rookie QB and that there is some talent in the corps. Heck, Detroit which has (on paper) a far more talented WR core wasn't rated much more ahead of ours (Roy is better than anyone we have and has proven it while they have a better TE plus they have that guy #10 who came on pretty strong and a coach that will bring out the best of there core). And yes I think Detroit's WR core was insanely over-rated entering last year, but its still got the tools to be better than our WR core. That said I wouldn't trade teams for the world and I think our offense will be much improved this year and these rankings mean jack in terms of W/L.

ESPN ranked our WR corps at 29. Although they did say some pretty nice things about our core. Mentioned how Bradley should develop into a better football player but felt we need a better TE, especially in this day and age where the TE is becoming more and more important. They also mentioned how our WR core suffered from having a rookie QB for most of the season.

One torn ACL is something, a second is a bit more scary simply because it tends to become a trend. However, he's a very good athlete and with the medical advances that have been made over the past 10-15 years, with the write work ethic, proper rehab, and smart football skills he should be able to overcome from that injury and go on to have a great career (if in fact he is a good football player).

Gault is some kind of athlete.

Hadn't seen this anywhere, but the Bears are going to give Garza the starting nod (at least as of now) and obviously Metcalf figures in to be the guy that replaces Brown. I'd look for JA to do his usual where he snags his backups off a training camp roster and eventually turns them into starting olineman.

Sounds like pretty good news. I was surprised to see the Bears graded both Williams and Williamson over Bradley. The tools are definately there for Bradley there, its just a matter of him staying healthy and improving his route running and consistently catching the ball (he seemed to be making strides at both prior to getting hurt). And the Bears may have been right at least in regards to Williams (since the Lions pretty much are saying they won't be playing Williams much at all).

If he gets into camp keep him, if not screw him. We went out and gave him an offer when he was an unrestricted free agent. Its his job to go out and fullfill that offer by playing, not sitting around whining.

I forgive you for following TOSU. I'm especially mad about that whooping the Irish took mixed with the fact that you guys also whooped up on my Hawkeyes. My 2 teams and you clobbered both of em last year.

Vasher was sly and wise and got himself back into camp. In the end I Think it will help him get a big time contract to stick around Chicago (probably during the season).

I think this sums it up perfectly. Angelo has said he will not go out and extend a guy with two years left on his contract. The only exception he has made to that policy is when he extended Urlacher.

First off, welcome aboard. I just saw where Vasher did in fact leave camp. My guess is it has to do with him being the top CB on our team, yet he's paid less than both Tillman, RMJ and for all I know he's probably paid about the same as Wesley. Its a major loss and it actually upsets me that we are having so many problems with our young players not showing up to camp (Briggs, Vasher and than the older Thomas Jones). It seemed as if every off-season while other teams were having contract problems, the Bears were fine (JA has always taken care of the young players and offered them up extensions). Hopefully JA will be able to get Briggs and Vasher back into camp and locked up. As far as Jones goes, I am less concerned because he signed here as a FA and has no reason to whine and complain about his contract or the fact that he has a bit of pressure because he's playing in front of our top pick of 05 (Ced Benson).

I liked the pick at the time, but Haynes really doesn't fit into Lovie's "speed" oriented defense, although I think he should provide good depth as a defensive tackle who could also split time at DE in a pinch. I still don't know if he'll make the final roster, but we will see. Anyway, here's the article:
