April 9, 200818 yr comment_35392 I'm getting ready to break down & buy a TV & I'm kind of stressed on what to buy. I've read what the experts say, but I'd appreciate anytihing you guys have to offer from a first-hand experience. I've narrowed my choices down to these 2 (both from Wal Mart. I hate Wal Mart but damn they're cheap) : 1. 47" LCD Magnavox 1080p for $1198.00 http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?...le131444-rLink1 2. 50" Plasma Phillips 720p for $1397.00 http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5633687 I'd appreciate any advice you could give me, especially when it comes to watching football. I get 16 HD channels so I'll be able to watch most Bears games in HD. Thanks! Report
April 9, 200818 yr comment_35404 LCD is the better of the two, imo. I'd also recommend the 47inch one as it is 1080P which is what BluRay is designed for. I have a DLP which I love to death. The other recommendation is to make sure you have a couple of HDMI inputs on the TV so you are ready for when you eventually get a BluRay plus able to hook up your cable or satellite to the other hdmi input. April 10, 200818 yr comment_35501 As far as TV's, the best deal I've seen anywhere is this 52" Samsung (which I'll be buying in the next few weeks). http://www.lcdtvs.com/product.html?postId=110970. Amazon also has the same TV for a little more http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LNT5265F-52-...7974&sr=8-1. http://www.consumersearch.com/www/electron...d-tv/index.html I'm getting ready to break down & buy a TV & I'm kind of stressed on what to buy. April 12, 200818 yr Author comment_35621 Thanks for all your input guys! I'm ordering the 47" tomorrow after I read the "Sunday Sales". Hey Madlith, Wal Mart has a 52" Magnavox LCD 1080 for 1750.00, which is cheaper then the Samsung you were looking at. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=9193472 I'd LOVE to get this TV but it's a little out of my price range (the TV I'm buying is a little out of my price range to begin with) I hate contributing to Wal Mart, but damn they're cheap. Even their extended warranties are cheap. For 2 extra years it's $79.00. Other stores charge $250.00 for the same thing. Bear's football in high-def . . . April 14, 200818 yr comment_35742 bradjock, I'm not 100% on Magnavox. They seem to be middle of the road. They are cheaper apparently...but Samsung seems better reviewed. Heck, I'm not a big fan of Wal-Mart, but I figure the folks that work in the store live in the good ol' US, and need to pay for their Urlacher jersey's too! I hear Sam's Club actually has some super deals going on... FYI - Abuddy of mine that's a reall techie, swears by the Sony Bravia. It's more expensive by $500 or more, but he swears the picture quality and bells & whistles are worth it. However, I think the best bang for the buck is Samsung. April 14, 200818 yr comment_35759 I've got to think fixing any of them would be a pain! I think the key is to try to find one that won't need fixing! Not sure which that is though. I do know all my old Sony's have kicked butt, but my PS2's have died a plenty... April 18, 200818 yr comment_36014 Honestly, I'd wait another month before pulling the trigger. A lot of stores are going to have mad deals once the tax rebate checks start coming out. Report

July 25, 200817 yr Author comment_42118 I have the 52" samsung LCD and it's great not only with movies and sports, but Xbox 360 I love it! I've had my 47" Magnavox for almost 3 months now & LOVE IT. I'd have loved to get the 52" but didn't have the extra $$$. Now that I have a big HD I sympathize with people who don't. I compare it to driving you're car to work while other people have to ride a bike. There's that much of a difference. Report
