this team is a friggin embarrassment. Halas is lookin down from bear heaven (or probably squating) over soldier field and waitin' for Lovie to walk out in the open... what a waste of my time to even watch this teams BS

I think we can officially say now we will have a new head coach after next season..

Dammit Connor! I thought everything you put down was set in stone! ;)

Everyone does realize that this is just speculation, right?

Peace :dabears

Actually, I heard today that the Bears have confirmed there interest in him. At this point I don't care who we hire just as long as it works out. If it happens to be this guy I don't know. I am not looking forward to the press conference when we finally hire someone and Lovie says "we got who we wanted the entire time" I think I might puke then.

Yea, that will be an interesting press conference. When I read articles about Buffalo hiring Gailey, most are positive in terms of who they hired, but negative in how they went about the process. As they first tried, and failed, to get numerous other coaching candidates or higher rep, it provided the image of Gailey being a 4th or 5th choice. Bad enough when you are considered a team's 2nd choice, much less much lower.

For us, whoever we get for OC and DC is likely to be considered far less than what we had in mind as we have been spurned by so many.

I see no reason getting excited about anyone anymore. We may as well post an add in the paper or go door to door finding people to interview.... no experience, intelligence, or common sense required, only a pulse is required. While I can't bring myself to want the Bears to lose games I don't think I would be upset with it if it brought us closer to getting someone real coaching and management in here.

Honestly I just want it to be over just pick someone already. My hometown HS team's head coach may soon be looking for work they won a few games this last season.

We all know that once they settle on some desperate sod to coach the offense/defense Lovie will say "We got the guy we wanted all along" which was only slightly believable the first time around. I'm tired of listening to the company lines.....

"we have a detailed plan"

"I have no doubt we'll hire the right guy"

"Candidates will be busting down the doors to get a chance to coach this team"

As if their stupidity, lack of skill, and lies are the NFL's best kept secret. Good candidates that come here know that this isn't where they want to be and aren't truely interested in coaching for a Lame Duck and the quacks leading this mess.

That statement is beyond brilliant!

Kudos!

Playing devils advocate to this statement. Please explain Mike Tice. Do you think he is not a good candidate for O-Line Coach?

Peace :dabears

Butting in...I think he's referring to higher level coordinators. Not positional, lower level spots.

If you did not see already, Cignetti has stated that he is not leaving Pitt for any other job at this point and time. He is very happy where he is at with Wanny and does not have any aspirations to go beyond his most coveted job of being at Pittsburgh. Apparently he made this statement sometime last night.

Yes and even when you step back and look at this mess, we're now 3 weeks or so from the embarassment.... I mean announcement that Lovie will stay. Bringing in Tice was the only logical move the Bears have made since the contradictory, flip flopping, insulting, brain cell killing press conference. Could use the expression even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. The Tice hire was good but one good move doesn't make up for the host of bad ones and the apparent lack of direction. Just like the Bears on the field the management looks totally unprepared to get the job done.

I was refering to this statement that you made: Good candidates that come here know that this isn't where they want to be and aren't truely interested in coaching for a Lame Duck and the quacks leading this mess..

I would argue that Tice is an outstanding candidate for OL coach. So how does that fit into your statement? Why would he come here?

Peace :dabears

Personally, I would argue the only coaches likely to join our staff right now are ones with pretty weak, or no, options.

I heard of no other team showing interest in Tice. He was not working at all when we signed him, right? That means his options may have been us or unemployment.

Martz has openly said he wants to work for us. Um, what other coaching options does he have? Nadda.

Plank said he wants to be our DC. Well, who else is looking at him even as a position coach, much less coordinator.

It seems like any candidate we have looked at w/ other options, whether that option is another a new team or staying w/ a current team, they choose not to come here.

So it may be a stretch to say no one wants to come here under the current situation, but I don't think it is a stretch to say anyone w/ other options would not look highly on joining the bears.

Tice has 1 more year on his deal with the Jaguars. He was their TE coach.
