Dayo was looking good on 3rd downs, Booker is stepping up. Gordon and Thieneman are blitzing to confuse qbs. I cannot wait until Bryant gets back to move Lewis back to depth rotation. Some one needs to poke JJ with a stick to see if hes alive. The Bears have capitalized on Caleb Williams rookie contract.

Bears now with the #1 and #18 DTs in PRWR. Grady is also #2 in Run Stop Win Rate.

I think Sweat will also be motivated after hearing coach Johnson say Hardy played well over the last two games and deserves more opportunities. Basically the Bears never missed Sweat, so he needs to ball out. With the addition of Simmons, who is owed 27 mil next season, the Bears can cut Sweat with no dead money. That seems like a.no brainer, imo.

Secondary effect? Simmons played two years with Sweat as MSU. Maybe that will motivate Sweat a little bit?

We would have QB Andy Dalton and Eberflus while living with 4 win seasons. I really think Kevin Warren told Poles to go get Ben Johnson. I do not think that happens if Poles had to go to the McCaskeys

I can't even imagine where the Bears would be right now, if not for that play.

Now THATS funny right there . I don’t care who you are. Was reading up on Wright and why he’s not starting in NY given he was a relative hot commodity after last year . But essentially it came down to their staring CBs, who are younger, are playing better . And ‘yes’ his coverage skills lack. But there’s no denying it he can make plays, at least in the right scenario. Maybe if he has assured help over the top he can be made into a temp fix for Johnson until something better comes along?

He does a good Eddie Jackson impersonation...

Wright was lousy in coverage, but no worse than JJ. At least he tried to tackle players instead of watching them run past him, and got turnovers, which JJ fails to do. Is there anything JJ does do well?

Yes, the Bears do not owe him the signing portion which is a plus

The Bears gave up a 2027 4th and got back a 2028 5th. For how bad the Titans are, even if they are a year apart, they will probably only be less than 20 picks away with the comp picks in between. I would not be surprised if they look for someone like Wright for a 7th or something like. He hasn't played for the Jets, hell the Jets may even give a pick back.

They traded two 1sts, a 4th and received Simmons and a 5th. I think those later picks are in 2028

And if I heard / read correctly, the bears received a 5th round pick in the trade. That would make three they have now? Which, in theory, could be used as leverage for a player like Mack or even an older but decent CB who can contribute now?

Also, this is a winning formula: we needed a defensive superstar. This reminds me of KC's run with a younger Mahomes w/ Reid as HC and Chris Jones on defense. The difference is the Bears have a younger core on offense. Coby Bryant hasn't even played a snap yet, the defense will get another boost with him.

There is not much difference between Pick #28-32 and #33-#36. 2x #30 picks equals #11. So the Bears ultimately traded Pick#10 for Simmons.

As much as I love Mack, I’d say a CB right now might be a little higher priority. But honestly, I’ll take either.

Ha! Our firsts are going to be late picks, closer to giving away two 2nds than two #1’s. We need to grab Mack or someone similar for help at edge and this D is good enough to get us to the Superbowl with this offense.

Rich, yes but they have the best guy at the position that becomes the center piece to build around for years. These are projected late 20 right now. It would take a year or more for those draft picks to even come close to producing at half his level. Still waiting on Odunze and heck Loveland has flashed but not there yet

One simple question: if we win the Superbowl, this year, do you forgive Poles for this?

INCREDIBLY STUPID. there is no possible way any 29 year old DT is worth anywhere close to what we paid. 2 firsts relates to a good/great starting QB in his prime or a DE future hall of fame player in his prime. this screws us in so many ways in our future it's mindboggling. ryan poles has done NOTHING but hurt this franchise. he can't draft. look at the busts or average players we have picked in the 1st-3rd round. his free agent acquisitions on defense are dismal at the VERY best. we are paying for injured average players. on offense he has brought in three good offensive linemen and one that wanted to retire and did after one season. one is at or past retirement age also in thuney. and now this... ryan poles needs to be FIRED. this is no knee jerk statement, this guy is killing this franchise.

Wow!

We absolutely overpaid but this makes the team better. Poles is all in on this team and it should benefit us for multiple years.

Thanks to Mongo I’m officially a fan! This is awesome! Let’s do this! Edit: 2x first rounders! Yikes!!!
