ESPN is an absolute joke. New Coaching Staff: Johnson, DC (name a bigger upgrade in the league in the last 5 years?) New FA/Trades: Thuney, Dalman, Jackson, Jarrett (trenches) New Draft Picks: Loveland, Burden, Trapilo (BPA) There is no other team in the NFL that upgraded as much as the Bears did. It is still on paper, but that's what they are grading on. ESPN has the Bears as the 16th best offseason. They are smoking crack. It is all clickbait now. ESPN hates Caleb too.

ESPN is questionable with their comments. They say some good things about the Bears but posts like (Calebs floor is bust while his ceilling is Jorden Love) then rate QBs that havent played in the league yet higher. I like ESPN because of a lot of good sports information but some of their hosts opinions are so lame.

No one other person on this site keeps a scorecard on what other peoples opinions are and how right you are some of the time. NE50 has never argued with anyone or got involved in emotional responses to opinions but even he notices you go to (berating me) because of mine. A lot of my opinions are based on what I think the Bears decide, not my self love of what I want to happen. I never loved Flus but thought he showed enough to be kept for one more year and that is exactly what the Bears did. I thought he would get a better OC and improve his overall performance. I never condemned his ability to be a good DC. So the next year he showed his lack of HC ability and gets fired so right away you tell everyone how you were right and tell me how wrong I was for thinking he might get better as a HC. Call me Homer , a Flus lover, you always push that I was extreme in my opinions and how right you were. ( keeping score) I liked Fields and thought he would improve every year. You tell eveyone how great you are at watching Fields tape and how right you were for calling him trash. Always doubling down on how smart you are. He is not going to be a great QB but in the right system someone will have success with him. You just again called him trash and low and behold He is a starting QB for another team in the league. He has a lot to prove I get that but people do get better in their careers. Lots of examples of that Geno Smith, Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold. He will prove you wrong as a starting NFL QB ( not a great QB) but in the league a long time. I liked him because he was a hard worker, team person and had some spectacular abilities. I always wish for people to succeed especially if they are a Bear at the time. Then you continue your trash talk and how wrong I was. ( keeping score). You proved the person you are when we were going back and forth and you kept berating me and doubling down on smart you are. You crossed the line when you called me a child molester because I go to Thailand for winters to get away the cold and live cheaper than Florida or AZ. I have had a different opinion with lots of people on here and they pushed back on me but never crossed the line like you do all the time. Im actually not criticizing the number of them. Thats fine. I just think a lot of them are so dumb. Not because of you. In fact, i think it's the other way around. I think they are dumb first, then you see them, and then if you restate what they say, it sounds dumb - because theyre dumb. Guys like Swifty, Pat the Designer, Kurt Warner, etc I just dont get it. The things they say are all narrative driven - all little soundbytey things. I think maybe they arent dumb. Theres a whole world of sports entertainment out there, and a lot of it is absolute trash. Same with the takes on Twitter, etc that repeat those narratives. It's like a BS echo chamber. But this thread is a fine place to post them, even if i keep disagreeing with them. I *DO* appreciate you not positing the story that PFF says we have the #4 OL in the league. That is like a perfect storm of douchiness. First off, PFF is notoriously weird with OL ratings. Secondly, how can we be #4 if we dont even know who our LT is? They have Braxton starting. And Im not even saying that we cant be the #1 OL in the league! On paper we look good. Course we looked good on paper last year too, and it was a disaster. Not saying i expect the same this year tho - this years paper is quite a bit better than last years. But Im just so sick of winning the offseason. Also, we'd better get those 2nd rounders signed. I know the problem is league wide, but we need to get that done.

We can. And I agree, we gotta see it on the field. My guess is Marshawn Lynch wasnt a model citizen, but Id sure like him at his height on our team. If Judkins was a chiorboy and didnt dominate on the field, no one would care that he was a good guy, so youre right - it's what you do on the field that matters - assuming what you do off it doesnt stop you from being on it. It's just after years of flowery media and all the suffering we've done, i want a team that can actually play and not just win the offseason. That's why I hate the youtube videos that get down to UDFA players and how they could be all pro players LOL We are strong in areas, and i still have some concerns and i think we have holes. So I want to deal with all of that honestly, in hopes of fixing it. Previous coaches and GMs have held on to players too long, and I dont want anything to screw this up. Now its not like i think what you or I say affects what the Bears do - like Kmet's future for example. You and i have no actual affect on it. But we talk about it, and so we are playing GM in a way when we do, so i dont want to coddle anyone. i dont want any rosy headlines. i wanna grind and push people around on the field. See we can have a normal disccusion. Different fans liked different RBs in the draft, and as you keep repearting they have to prove it on the field. Real games start in Sept. As we all have different opinions., several prospects can be good all at the same time, and of course some will bust. Jeanty was a no brainer but he didnt make it to 9. That was just what I seen before the draft. So I liked other RBs. Make sure you write down the ones I liked so you tell how wrong I was after the season. I wanted us to draft Skatebo because ow where we might have drafted him, think KJ will be good as a Steeler but I also liked Judkins, so make a note of that since he is already a problem.

for sure. we dont need that kind of stuff on our team! I wasnt as big a fan of the Ohio State HBs as some were. I guess Henderson is OK, but my guys were Jeanty (along with the entire world!), Kaleb Johnson and Cam Sketebo I also didnt have Hampton as high as he went. I trust Harbaugh, and Hampton does run tough, but he is lacking in vision. I thought KJ was every bit as tough, and had better vision and acceleration. My only drawback on KJ was that his OL was opening massive holes for him, so he will have to prove it again on this level.

Ah, I didnt see this part. So yeah, I totally disagree with you 100%, and I think time will show it. But you're not flooding the site with endless videos about it either. Im not frustrated with you in the least, even if i do think you're wrong about Caleb. Also, I dont question that you OR Stinger want whats best for the team - we all do. I also agree that Caleb has to perform, although he wasnt as bad last year as people say he was - especially given the chaos around him. I think Caleb has a higher ceiling than Daniels does. But that's my opinion. By the numbers, Daniels had a very good year. i think it was in part the scheme and the league is going to adjust, but I cant ridicule anyone that says they like him. BUT Justin Fields on the other hand is 100% a bust. That's already in the books. If you dont see it yet, you will after this year. But in all this, I dont disrespect you for disagreeing. The deluge of hopium from one other poster is all that gets that response from me. Protecting the team like a mother protects a young child is not football to me. It just provokes a reaction in me. Oh man, I couldnt agree more. I predict he will be great, but I totally agree, we have to see it on the field. I've been saying that about the whole team the entire time. Now whether taking Caleb at #1 was the right move - it was. Just like going all on with 4 Kings is the right move. Doesnt mean you're sure to win, but it's the right bet to make. As far as humility is concerned, I think you're misreading me. i don't think I'm all that. i think Stinger is a homer and falls in love with every player, and the rosy rah rah stuff has just worn very thin with me. I'm ready to take this team seriously, and I am thrilled that Ben Johnson seems to be too. No more room for weak nonsense. That lack of accountability brought us many issues last year, from DJ Moore to Tyreek Stevenson. And I am still a fan of those players, but the culture of permissiveness and unaccountable positivity almost imploded this team last year. But please do not misunderstand my role in this: in no way do I think that I could be even remotely qualified to be an assistant coach on a mediocre college team. I dont have a crystal ball or any kind of special insight. What frustrates me is when the emperor is absolutely stark naked and people are discussing his fine clothes. That isn't about my arrogance. Anyone can just look and see he's naked - Im not special. But the people posting articles and podcasts that make wild claims about his clothes are ridiculous - in the sense that they are worthy of ridicule. Thats not me being awesome, it's them being dumb.

We are all Bears fans and it is healthy to have different views as long as we are respectful to each other. I would love nothing more than Caleb being the QB answer we have always wanted and I believe Stinger would have a similar view. However, at this point no one can guarantee this is our current trajectory. If Caleb becomes a franchise QB that we have craved, hopefully we can celebrate this with humility.

This season is crucial because Caleb has to perform. We could have taken Daniels at no2 and got a boat load of picks. Some on this board have indicated Caleb will be great. I didn't see it last year. The is no need to berate people who have a different opinion. They can be smug if Caleb is great or will be quiet if he's a bust. Ultimately we are all Bears fans and want best for the team. We all are emotionally invested and no one will know what would have been the best for the Bears, if we would have kept Fields and built around him, or taken either Caleb or Daniels.
