    Pope Leo XIV

I saw two funny ones: Chicago got the papacy before Detroit won a Super Bowl. It only took two days to select Pope Leo XIV, and it took 3 days to select Shedeur Sanders.

    Sack Reduction

I think it is natural for Bears fans to be pessimistic when it comes to passing numbers, but Goff is a good comp. He had 2x years with Anthony Lynn before Johnson took over. He improved in every statistical category. So Goff averaged 8.6 Y/A last year, which followed up back to back years of 7.6 Y/A. Williams was at 6.3 Y/A. So just say Williams adds only 1.0 Y/A to his average, that's over 500 yards from last year's total. If you consider that with the sack reduction, now he is around 700 yards better than last year with nothing else changed. If Trubisky could average 230 yards passing a game, Williams can average 250 per game. Stroud averaged 273 his rookie year. This is kind of funny looking back on it, but Trubisky averaged 230 yards per game in 2018 passing to Gabriel, Robinson, Miller, Burton, and Cohen. Compare that to Moore, Odunze, Burden, Loveland, Kmet, and Swift.
  4. good point. i guess I will say that other WRs will take yards from the ones I've already allotted? I wouldnt want to predict who they come from though! For me it starts with predicting Caleb goes just slightly over 4k. ANd odunze just slightly over 1,000 while DJ doesnt quite make 1,000 and burden takes a bunch of his catches. And then a guess at Loveland, and then the rest of the number kind of fall into place from there, so other WRs would have to take from Burden and DJ in my prediction I guess?

  6. It's pretty sad how rumors spread. It was said Pope Leo was a Cubs fan. Not a chance his brother said. He is Whitesox all the way.

    Sack Reduction

and the same with my numbers, I didn't account for any WR beyond WR3, or TE2. Duvernay, Zaccheaus, Scott, or Smythe. Zaccheaus had 45 receptions last year. I am not saying it will be a lot but even a few catches per player beyond the ones we listed would bump up Caleb's numbers by at least 100-200 yards.
  8. Good to see for the Bears. It looks like the Texans are the first team ever to give a fully guaranteed contract to a 2nd rounder.
  9. I agree with you. We had 562 attempts last year with bad play calling and junk OL. This year we have Johnson and more targets and an improved OL.
  10. I think the stars are alinging for a SB this year.
  11. Da Pope, Da Bears, Da Super Bowl.... Lord, hear our prayer!
  12. I made this (optimistic!) prediction a week or two ago, and Im gonna stick with it this year - well see how right or wrong I got it. My total guess, assuming LT isnt a total disaster, and Caleb isnt running for his life: Caleb Williams 4,050 yards passing DJ Moore 800 yds receiving Rome Odunze 1,050 yds receiving Luther Burden 600 yds receiving Colston Loveland 750 yds receiving Cole Kmet 350 yds receiving HBs 500 yds receiving

    Sack Reduction

My perfect world prediction was: Williams 395-580, 68.1%, 4490 yds, 7.7 Y/A, 31 TD, 8 INT He does have Williams missing 2 games, so the TDs look spot on, but I doubt he doubles his INT rate. Also, if he only averages 35 extra passing yards a game with the addition of Ben Johnson, the new O-Line, Loveland, and Burden, then I still see that as a failure. Stroud threw for 4100 in 15 games as a rookie but Caleb with everything around him better will throw for 500 fewer yards?

    Sack Reduction

Everyone can have an opinion, and it is always safer to go lower because that only increases the chances of the player of meeting the expectations, but in this case, this would not be a successful season for Caleb outside of the 28 TDs.
  16. I assume you were asking my opinion on the 2022 draft as part of an argument to prove that Poles is good. So i answered the main point.
  17. There is no changing your mind on anything. i just respond to posts. I asked your opinion on grading the draft and then you're all over the place and didnt even answer the question.
  18. Today 5 rookies signed contracts. Loveland 26.6 mil, 14 mil bonus Kyle Momongai----Newman---Frazier---Hippolite Who was the contract guy that left that was quick with signing players? He must have come back.
  19. See this is the problem. All I care about is the Bears. You seem to care about winning points with me. We will see how this all works out in time.
  20. You keep making comments like( Poles could have drafted Stroud), you say Poles was lucky with the trade, you keep defering to giving him credit . I rated the draft a B and your first statement is calm down I only expect A+ grades for everybody. I gave him a B and listed his fails. I asked for your 2022 grade and look what you wrote. I just respond to some of your opinions just like you do to mine. But for some reason, mine are all ridiclous and yours comes from the FOOTBALL BIBLE. If I was on here hammering Caleb for not being good his first year, holding the ball to long, not seeing open players, rarely hitting his outlet throws instead of taking sacks. You would be all over me with your opinions but when I talk up Poles, Im overdoing it. This is a fan board giving opinions, no reason to get excited every time I disagree with you.
  21. The stats are painting the wrong picture. You say he is wide open on 80% of his catches. You also say he has low targets. This means he doesnt get open often. It means when a defense fails, he is WIDE open and can catch. ANYONE who is wide open can catch. But he doesnt get open enough. Apparently we DO have a blue chip TE now. So why pay TE2 $11.6M a year when you have so many mouths to feed on offense anyway? You can get a cheaper inline TE2 and improve the team in other ways. The only reason you want to keep him is that once someone is on the team, you ALWAYS want to keep them. To you, someone on the team is family, and someone who isnt currently on the team is not. But maybe youd love a different player we could get with that money on the defensive line? Kmet doesnt suck, but we are paying him too much, and those resources could do more good for us somewhere else. Thats why I think we will trade him next year or this year at the deadline.
  22. I posted tape 9 entries ago on this post. I dont think any team in the league has blue chip players at very position on their teams. I agree he is a good player and not great. Out of his 47 catches he had 8 contested catches. He is wide open on 80% of his catches. Had the highest catch rate with TEs in the league 2 yrs in a row. The bottom line is how long will the bears keep him? I say he plays out his contract. Which teams we played last yr played mostly man against us?
