  2. Bullshit. Thats a ridiculous narrative from the media. I just posted a video with over 100 examples of Caleb playing in structure and not holding the ball.
  3. I loved the whole walk out. I'll do the scream on his first win!
  4. I hate being overly optimistic, but man it is hard to see anything less than 4,200 passing yards. This is 4,400: Moore - 1,000, Allen - 900, Odunze - 700, Kmet - 600, Everett - 400, Swift - 300, Scott - 200, All Others - 300 (Herbert and Roschon had over 300 last year). That is also 364 fewer yards for Moore, 343 fewer for Allen, 119 fewer for Kmet, and then normal projections for the others. No crazy numbers and no career highs.

    Hype time

I love the scream when he walked out, that was all of us.
  6. Last year the top 4 offenses had over 4000 passing and over 2200 yards rushing. We had 2399 rushing and 3421 passing. Caleb and our WRs will make up 600 passing yards. Anyone think that is unrealistic? We will have more offensive plays this year because of a more successful offense. I think Waldron runs a balanced offense theory . In 2022, 573 passing plays and 425 rushing plays. 4282 passing yards and 2042 rushubg yards. In 2023 passing 575 4167 and rushing 382 1580. They finished 9-8 both seasons. We have more talent than the Seahawks had, it is a no brainer that we win more games.
  7. His arm talent is exceptional, but last year his decision making took a hit. When you hold the ball for 60 plays over 6 seconds, thats poor decision making. Because of the lack of talent around him, he held the ball to long trying to make home run plays instead of taking what the defense gave him. 2022 he was king for his decision making, Heisman Trophy. Its great to see him shine on his play, but when he makes mistakes, that counts to. That contributed to his fumbles also. His success this year will be based on how well he accepts coaching, no coach is telling you to hold the ball for more than 4 seconds.
  8. Here's 20 minutes of Caleb making big plays in structure and getting the ball out fast. His throwing motion is insane too. But mostly you see him having elite pocket presence and reading and manipulating defenses. This oughtta bust some of the media narratives about always holding the ball too long. This is a fantastic prospect we are getting. The Oklahoma stuff int he first few minutes is good, but the USC stuff is crazy good.
  9. I guess we mostly agree, I just think Caleb reads a defense better than any. McCarthy is probably second in that. But I don't think he has generational arm talent per se, I think it's his QBs brain, character, maturity and desire to win that's generational. He does make really great off platform throws, but I think it's his "quarterbacking" that's elite?
  10. I didn’t say he’s just an arm. I said it’s his arm talent that is generational. Other traits as you said were not even best in class. Of the top 6 QBs if you ranked them in each category I’m confident Caleb is top 2 or 3 in each except fumbles. He might be last there and if I wasn’t using my phone I’d look it up. Overall those traits made him the best prospect but he’ll need time to fix those bad habits. He gets one big advantage because our offense is all new with many new skill position players. Nobody knows what to expect in the first few games.
  11. yeah when you have a good roster, the holes are easy to see. This is all the effect of having tanked the 2021 year. We bought our freedom from football purgatory with that move.
  12. Jenkins is one of our best linemen, but he's missed a lot of games. I dunno how you can trust that, even though he may make it through this season without any. My guess is that Poles is not going to pay Jenkins a big contract, but someone will.
  13. If Kiwan Amegadjie ends up winning the LT job, heard them talk about moving Braxton inside or vice versa. If Jenkins deals with any injuries again this year, I dont see them signing him back.
  14. I have read several places where the Bears have kept in contact with Yannick Ngakoue and his injury recovery. I think he will be back.
  15. Just said this, we already know before the kick off.
  16. As long as they get a long term C in that high mix, maybe 3rd but I'd be good going DE, DT, C/G rounds 1 and 2. Then DE round 3 if it's heavy in talent.
  17. There are a whole bunch of outcomes for this season. Our fanbase is so tainted towards bad QB play that even mentioned 4K passing yards seems like a joke. However, there are probably better odds that Williams hits 4K than throwing for less than 3500 (unless injury related).
  18. They said the draft is defensive heavy next year, which would play right into the Bears hands. Get Offense this year, defense next year, and cook for ages.
  19. My assumption is they bring in a vet for DT and Edge to fill out the rotation for this season, then in the 2025 draft, get a 3T, Edge, and IOL in the first two rounds and a rookie Center by the 4th.

  21. Jumping from bad to mediocre is common. Jumping from mediocre to good is difficult. Jumping from good to great is extremely hard to do, and jumping from anywhere to champion, especially more than once, is very difficult for all but the best Offenses / QBs. Sometimes you need to get to that rarified air to realize how much deeper youre going to have dig inside yourself than you even knew was possible. Jordan was always Jordan. He always had those skills and the greatness inside of him. But he still had to crash on the Pistons multiple times until he found out how deep he had to reach inside himself. After that, he went on a run of Championships that no one could stop. He was then super-powered and ran over everyone. This is about more than talent and execution. This is the mental side of being a multiple time champion. I see everything we are saying, and I expect us to be a playoff team soon. I wont take a guess at the high or low side of this coming year - anything is possible from 7-10 to the sky's the limit. But I am confident that we will be a playoff team in 2025. We will be beating teams most weeks, but we wont be seeing the really good teams very often. Our true test, and the growth that comes with it, will be rare, and might even have to wait for the playoffs. I think we could be NFC Championship game bound very soon. I could see us winning any game with our roster, but i can also see losing because of this intangible thing that you only learn once youve lost on the big stage and get a sense of what it takes. So I expect this to come in three phases. First the team ascends, and learns to play together and becomes a top 5 team. Then they start to truly contend and lose a game to be eliminated from deep in the playoffs. THEN I see a real superbowl contender. Of course a double doink, or lucky fumble can earn you a win you didnt really deserve, or lose you a game you should have won. Some years the superbowl is there for the taking because something happened that put the Chiefs out early. Having a top5 team can result in a superbowl victory. But having the best team, primed and battle hardened can allow you to TAKE the superbowl from anyone, multiple times. Hopefully we are on a journey toward building that kind of team. The easy path of an improved roster and the ability to score points isnt enough to reliably and repeatedly be in superbowl contention, but it is the step between here and there. So Im excited, but there are still mountains to climb here, and its going to take a couple seasons if the goal is to be the biggest baddest MFs in the league who know how to dispatch anyone.
  22. I dont think Williams is just an arm. Daniels, for example, has a better arm and is mobile as well. Fields has a huge arm too. Caleb is a playmaker. He reads defenses extremely well, and can get the ball out fast. He is more NFL ready than either Daniels or Fields. Williams is not just a physical specimen, he is an actual quarterback. It's not his arm that's generational, it's the way he plays the position and the completeness of his skill set.
  23. I do think that we need to prepare for the possibility that two things may be true next year: 1) Caleb Williams has the best statistical season for a Bears QB ever. 2) Caleb Williams has the third best statistical season for a QB in the division. Keep in mind the years Jared Goff and Jordan Love had last year would both, unquestionably, be the best Bears QB season ever. We can certainly hope for some regression, but can’t expect it to happen.
  24. The very early Walter mock draft had the Bears selecting 3 DL. 2 DE/edge and a 3T. The depth on the top 50 seem to favor our need next year and noticed a lot of size so there is no finding guys that need to add 15#.
  25. Caleb is a QB with generational arm talent. That's it, although he has other positive traits. He has a ton of learning to do. Ball security is horrible with 30 fumbles in college. Deep passing is inaccurate but should improve IF he can improve his footwork in the pocket. He needs a lot of work to get rid of the happy feet. He is a rare arm talent that can get away with that on shorter throws simply because he can throw off-angle but IMO when you start getting beyond 20yds it really affects his accuracy. A bunch of his "big play" highlights showed open receivers having to make big adjustments to the ball, adjustments that usually brought the coverage back into the play. Over-selling him for what he is at this point won't change any of the bad habits. IMO he's got the work ethic but he needs to hear the criticism to drive him to improve. I hope our coaches are already in his ear doing just that. To start with, this year he needs to do what he too often refused to do at USC.... take the easy read and let his teammates do the work. There will be times when plays break down and then he can go do his thing. I just hope the plays aren't breaking down because he is still bypassing the open early-read while looking for the big gain. Bottom line for me is that this year his teammates need to lift his play. He has the players around him to do that if he just lets them do their job.
  26. We need to address the DL before the season starts. Poles has done a remarkable job revamping our roster. However, the D is still missing the pass rush. We were, if I am not mistaken, last in the league in sacks last year, even after bringing on Sweat. We have a fantastic LB & DB group behind the DL, but they need to have the DL put pressure on the opposing QB. There are too many damn good QBs who will pick us apart if we cannot put more pressure on their QB. Hopefully, Poles can fill in the gap until we can add some blue-chip players in next year's draft. If he does, I agree 100 with everyone; 11-12 wins is a realistic goal. On a side note, If I'm not mistaken, the only players Ryan Pace drafted who are still on the Bears are: Larry Borom (pick No. 151, 2021 NFL draft) (I suspect will be gone before the season starts) Khalil Herbert (pick No. 217, 2021 NFL draft) (Now no longer a starter but a valuable backup) Teven Jenkins (pick No. 39, 2021 NFL draft) (A+ Pick when not on the sidelines because of injury) Jaylon Johnson (pick No. 50, 2020 NFL draft) (A+ Pick) Cole Kmet (pick No. 43, 2020 NFL draft) (A+ Pick) Talk about a GM taking on a monumental task! Poles is doing an awesome job. Now, he just needs to finish the job. 3T, Edge, Center.
