  2. Im not sure the top 5 LTs were top 5 their first few years. These rating are projected on a 2nd yr and 3 rd year player. They have improved and should finish higher than 31 and 32 in the next few years. KA may prove to be a better LT than Braxton but he will take a few years to develop. Our choice this year came down to Odunze or the third OT taken. When building a team, everyone cant be a first round pick. We have to trust they get developed.I think if both finish top 10 at their position that is acceptable as we acquire blue chip players at other positions.
  3. Today
  4. This is sort of dependent on how you look at it, Jones is 31st and Wright is 32nd. So you could say Jones is one of the worst LTs in the league while Wright is the best RT. Jones is good enough, and Wright still needs to improve. If both can improve this season, then when you add in Amegajie as the swing tackle, that is a solid OT room. Center needs to be addressed and I still do not trust Davis at RG.
  5. But the Bears did draft an OT who can challenge or replace the LT. Like QB, you want your LT to be top 5 and not hovering average in rankings. Braxton has be a great addition for a 5th round pick and has value, like Leno Jr was for a 7th rd pick. He now needs to take that next step having a rookie with some better attributes behind him.
  6. PFF is not the king of the hill but it is a comprensive look at comparing playrs. So much for the ( we should have drated a OT at 9 crowd) https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-pff-offensive-tackle-rankings-top-32-ahead-of-the-2024-nfl-season

  8. I seen this on Pittsburghs X account. They picked up a backup QB that's not to bad. To bad we couldnt have got him. Just click the YouTube that's underlined.
  9. Last week
  10. The only thing we are missing on D is more pressure on the quarterback. Sweat cannot be expected to be a one-man show. What happens if he gets injured? We need to bring in a vet to add to the mix to secure a top 5 D.
  11. I think very much so. SF? Ravens? They have had turnover, we just keep adding. Byard will be the best free agent we added this year.
  12. and if you figure that you get an extra year with him, that he should be even better in 2025 with 1 year under his belt than he would be coming out as a rookie in 2025, even with an extra year of college.
  13. I have read where people thought Booker would be a 1st or early 2nd rounder next year. If you are building a young team, and you believe in your position coaches, he is worth a mid 3rd easily even as youre maybe getting him a little early.

    Bears OTAs

With the secondary being so elite, it feels like that energy is going to propagate throughout the rest of the defense. That unit may be the best in the NFL this year, and in reality, the Bears LB+Secondary may be the best as well when you include Edmunds, Edwards, and Sanborn into the mix.
  15. The draft really fell almost perfect for the Bears. Top 2 players on their board, best punter in the last decade, Booker for only a future 4th but were looking to move up immediately after picking Taylor. So they clearly had a 4th round grade (or better on Booker).
  16. it is very good to see - they are definitely building a real culture there - not just lip service.
  17. Heck, Warren was great to see some of. I love that he led them all in prayer. Also, when he talked to Poles about patience. Great stuff
  18. it seems like it all fell perfectly for us. Lets go!
  19. That Dexter is lighter is a strong signal that they are committed to him as a 3T. Im looking forward to see what he becomes.
  20. I think someone mentioned Davis was not there. Flus said he will be at the attendance required OTAs. TBH lineman arent muched involved in these type of practices.
  21. The Bears were all in Odunze, they even had odds at each pick for him to be at 9. They were willing to trade up, losing a 1st or 2nd rounder for him. They were all in on DE Booker too. They were ready to trade a future 4th and 6th and got him for only the 4th.
  22. As close as Flus and Poles are, it will take a meltdown. Poles has now put together a near all star caliber team of coaches and players, so the excuses have shifted from being on him(GM) to HC to get the team to execute. For me, if he doesn't take easy points (FG) early and goes for a 1st down or TD, it puts him on notice. Do it a couple times and the team finishes average can be enough to find a new HC that understands that you have to take the given points unless you are already blown out.
  23. I think Flus is part of the plan that Poles has looking forward if he had any negative thoughts about Flus, he had the perfect time last year to do it. Flus would have to have a losing record for that even come up this year and see no way of that happening. Now if Caleb is the reason for us being 8-9 compared to 10-7 , I dont think Poles holds that against him but if the defense fails and chaos on the offense , then of course that's on the table. Since I'm predicting 12-5, obviously i dont think that happens. I rewatched the draft vidio the Bears put out and noticed Ian told Poles when Rome was available at 9, we got our one and two. Was Rome the #2 player on our draft board? No QBs were there and they may have had him rated higher than MHJ due to his intangables. He may have been. Two OTs went before us and they may have not considered it because of Braxton.
  24. Thanks! There was also a mention of 2 on the OL. Does anyone know who?
  25. Keenan Allen, it was his wife's bday and also a daughters I think. I am not too worried about him missing the OTA. He and all the players have been in house doing the off season workouts. Rome Odunze - he has a hamstring and missed the practice. Gervon Dexter - not sure what his reason was, but Flus is impressed with his work all offseason “I noticed the body composition first,” Eberflus said. “[Dexter] was really good. He changed his body in the time he was off. He’s quicker, leaner.”
  26. When they mentioned that Caleb had a rough day, they also said he was missing two WRs and two OLs. Now, I know it isn't unusual for players to miss OTAs. However, I was hoping for a solid turnout. The WRs need to continue developing chemistry with Caleb, and the OL needs to mesh as a unit with a new center yet to be named. Does anyone know who skipped the OTA and the reasons for their absence?
  27. The rumor can be true, however, it seems to be more like this: Worker at Halas Hall - tells Phil that he never saw Flus and Getsy speak to each other. What that guy doesn't tell Phil or Phil doesn't ask, how often are you around them, are you in meetings, or behind closed doors? So it may have been a public thing, which I could see. Maybe they didn't like each other and if that is the case, I could see that too. Either way, this is going to be a telling season for Flus. I don't know if he is on the hot seat, but of all the coaches, staff, and players, he is probably the closest to being on the hot seat. I would say that order goes: Flus, Davis, Braxton, Edmunds, and Herbert.

Also, the Eagles defense is a lot different than the Titans, so he was basically playing at half speed. I really like him and think he will be a pleasant surprise on defense. All he has to do is play average and it will be a massive upgrade from Jackson. Also, if you remember a few years ago, Jackson was basically telling rookies that they didn't need to worry about tackling. Byard is clearly not like that. He fits in well with Brisker and the rest of the secondary. I would not be surprised if they extend him to allow the team to address other positions in 2025's draft.
  29. I totally agree. He is better than he was last year, and the bears are going to rejuvenate him
