  1. The only thing I could think of is with Forte's injury, and the fact that NO's secondary is pretty awful, Turner must've tried to exploit those weaknesses. I question the timing, 5:00 minutes left in the 4th quarter with a lead...and did there need to be a pass on nearly EVERY DOWN in the second half? Not a good game for the offense...
  2. Let's just hope the Bears don't return to the 48-41 game mentality of "bend, but don't break." The defense was BROKE in that game, and I sincerely hope that the attitude isn't: "Look, AP is going to get 120-180 yards; as long as we (defense) keep him out of the end zone, we'll be fine." That strategy doesn't work. --JBF
  3. Nothing like a crappy opponent like the Rams to get the team out of its doldrums... --JBF
  4. Personally, I'd rather see Bennett out there. Since the coaches are moving Devin Hester away from return duties, it'd be interesting to see what a guy like Bennett could do on punt returns, since he took one to the house in the preseason... --JBF
  5. Here's a smidge of what Phil Simms had to say about the Bears/Cards tilt this past Monday (find the full story here): Like everyone else, I’m a genius after the fact…In this case, I’m referring to the outcome of the Monday night game between Chicago and Arizona. Having seen the Bears in person two weeks ago, I was right there with every other football analyst in declaring them the best team in the NFL. But in retrospect, as I watched the pre-game warm-ups Monday and heard commentary on TV, it reminded me a lot of the Monday night Falcons-Saints game in Week 3…Just as in that game, there were so many emotional factors in favor of the home team. If you spend enough time telling anyone how inferior they are to everyone else, that can provide all the incentive in the world. I’m not just talking about football players or pro athletes in general. This applies to anyone in society…Here was Arizona, a young team with a rookie quarterback, trying to establish itself at home – in a brand new stadium with a fired-up crowd. With so many transplanted Chicagoans in Arizona, there had been a push for those Bears fans trying to get tickets for this game – just another reason for the hometown fans to be fired up...The Bears might still be the best team in the NFL, but everything came together for Arizona Monday night and the Cardinals almost held on to win. --JBF
  6. I'm just glad I didn't give up on this team. I'll admit, at one point, I thought for SURE it was over...prolly around 23-3. Thrilled at the turnaround. As Wanny would say, "Aaaaahp...Rex'll be foin'." --JBF
  7. G-Rex was Orton-esque BAD. Thankfully, I can't think of one young QB who hasn't had a game as bad or worse than Grossman...remember Favre in the early 90's throwing multiple INT's vs. the Beloved? It was his first year starting. He'll bounce back. This CAR playoff game playcalling with all the passing early has got to stop. Hopefully Turner learned more lessons vs. AZ. --JBF
  8. Fitzgerald out vs. Bears = GREAT news for Bears fans Fitzgerald out 2-5 weeks = HORRIBLE news for Fantasy Football owners (I'm one of 'em!) AZ's o-line is bad. Hopefully THarris & MAndersron will be meeting at Matt Leinart often. --JBF
  9. Top 5 is good. Hopefully with a win this Sunday night and a beatdown over DICK Jauron the following week, Top 3 might be in the future. --JBF
