No, I don't think Williams gave up on that ball. Cutler put it in the wrong spot. A well thrown or better timed ball would have hit Williams perfectly.

Cutler is, um, getting a ton of protection. This is scary, I didn't want to type that.

To run the ball? I'd say that's what the Bears have the players to do right now. They don't have a pass-protecting O-line but they do have some heft. They have some solid RB's. Their WR's are banged up and their defensive secondary is banged up.

THat 3rd down is on Cutler too. He had protection, he had an open throwing lane, he stepped up into that open throwing lane and had a wide open receiver. Bad day for Cutler so far.

If I were being a d***, I'd point out that the Packers have been throwing non-stop too. But yeah, put the ball on the ground. Make them concerned that the Bears will run the ball and that Safety isn't necessarily back there.

You can blame the O-Line a little for that since Cutler couldn't step up into the actual throw, but clearly Aikman nailed that one...he took so long staring down Williams that it drew the Safety. Good possession by the defense again. The Bears are going to block one of these punts. They've barely missed 2 in a row.

Again...how is "Offering him a fair market extension 1 year before he is eligible for free agency/franchise tagging" = "leaving him dangling in the wind"? He was offered a solid, reasonable, fair market deal for a guy 1 year away from FA. I don't know how clear I can make this.

The Bears need to succeed on the ground early. There's no other way to say it. That is priority #1.
