  1. Seriously, the Lions have played a game that they deserved to lose. They have not been impressive at all. They've been penalized like crazy. They haven't moved the ball well. Tony Romo has single-handedly put the Lions in this game.
  2. Loading the Box opens up the in-between pass on the 5 yard drop and occasionally the longer pass if the Bears can pass-protect. Next week they get Suh, which probably means there will be at least 1 dirty hit on Cutler, maybe more, but there's not much you can do about that. The 2 things that will need to happen is that Cutler will need to perform well (ID quickly the open receiver and get rid of the ball) and the receivers will need to catch the balls when they get hit in the hands. If that happens, then let teams overload the line and the Bears will still beat them.
  3. Ok, let me chime in here. I'm not interested in who started anything, honestly. A couple years ago when the crowd first came over from the previous board, I tried to enforce the rules the way they are over at Soxtalk, where we crank down much harder on personal attacks, and people said that they didn't want that here, so I've just sorta made sure that spammers get removed and let things go otherwise. I don't think it's been a serious problem...but if there's something brewing that is going to start ruining threads constantly, it'll be hard to just let things go. There is an ignore poster option if things really get under your skin. If you guys really want things policed harder...tell me so and I can do so, but so far I haven't gotten the impression that is watned.
  4. For the guy who isn't watching...are you being serious?
  5. 25 rushes for 205 yards for Forte.
  6. Am I reading this right where this is a comment on site administration? I don't want to comment on it if I'm misunderstanding it.
  7. Punting from the Carolina 39 and winding up with 19 yards net? That's how you lose football games.
  8. Forte has a shot at a 200 yard game.
  9. What happened to the dominance of the Bears front 4 from game 1?

I think I had my Christmas avatar up a disturbingly long time this year.
  15. Good! Have you watched him the first couple weeks? He really, really needs to get rid of the ball faster.
  16. I gotta disagree partially here...Cutler can definitely do stuff to make this line look better. He has been chronically holding the ball too long and staying in the pocket way too much early this season. He is not reading his receivers quickly enough and he is not getting rid of the ball quickly enough. This is of course not the only issue, so don't mistake what I'm saying here...Cutler can and should be better in several ways and that will help the line out significantly if it happens.

The other thing that having 0 first round picks forced the Bears to do was to spend money on Peppers.
  18. No, Cutler was traded for about 6 months before the Bears signed him up for a 2 year contract extension, mid-2009-season.
  19. Cutler didn't make his decision on "Where to go" as a FA at all, he was drafted and then demanded a trade based on coaching staff.
  20. I actually thought the offensive line performed well enough yesterday. Cutler had 17 dropbacks in the first half and was hit twice. The Packers really couldn't get to him at all until the 2nd half when everyone knew that Forte was doing his Chester Taylor impression. Yeah, the running lanes weren't there, but that's why you don't run straight at BJ Raji...you might keep him off the QB but you're not moving him backwards. I go for Cutler mainly in this game, and also the WR and defense somewhat. Cutler had a series of bad throws. His INT's were bad throws. He had time to make throws and simply did not make them. His WR's really didn't help him out on the hands either, everyone saw that...but he consistently had guys open on the field and could not get the ball to them. Secondly, 27 points to the Packers is going to be rough for the Bears to overcome. The Packers don't have a bad defense, but the Bears are supposed to have a winning defense. The offense didn't do a terrible job in giving the Packers field position either, the Packers were just able to move the ball. The big thing was that the Bears couldn't slow down the run enough to make Rogers have to put the ball in the air. Grant had like 35 yards in his first 3 carries.
  21. At the time the Bears were down what, 10 points in a key division game at home? You get that score, it's a 3 point game in the 4th quarter.
  22. If you knew going in that the Packers would have put 27 on the board...you'd say the Bears were in trouble.
  23. The Bears' tackling is as good as anyone I've seen this year.
  24. I'll defend him a little bit here. The Bears have had no success running the ball, and this has so far forced some of the passing plays. Once you're 2nd and 9, you're not running the ball. In addition, 6 of those plays have come inside of the 10 yard line, and without Barber, they don't have the personnel to make that happen. The O-Line is actually being very effective in pass protection today. Cutler made some mistakes early but is now nailing things on target. The main reason people have been so insistent that the bears need to keep the ball on the ground is to help the O-line out...but it isn't needing it right now.
