  1. The Texans also let their pro-bowl FB who was instrumental in blocking for that 1600 yard UDFA walk. They might well think that extra bodies will help keep him fresh.
  2. So shouldn't you judge harshly a player who takes money while still looking at a career in the pros? Same standard you give to not care...its putting him on a pedestal above the players who will never play a down.
  3. The other side of that coin is...if a team will give added value for a player that will help them this year, then there's a benefit to the Bears to move now rather than later.
  4. There's obviously 2 ways to read that statement though...the way you did, and the way where he's saying that because he knows he needs to play better.
  5. Briggs was extended in 2008, Pisa was signed in 2009. I also recall that Briggs basically came limping back to the Bears because no one else was offering him a contract like the one the Bears were, and he acted like he thought he'd get way more than that still.
  6. Really, yeah, why not. What's the downside?
  7. So you mean just now, when they played hardball by offering him 2x what anyone else would? Yes, they franchise tagged Briggs. They didn't, IIRC, start telling him that he was replaceable did they?
  8. You mean just now, where they offered him more than twice what he was worth on the actual FA market, or some other case I'm unfamiliar with?
  9. Can you cite any player that the Bears wanted to keep that they really "played hardball" with in any way?
  10. The only reason I'd even consider it is injury, but Wooten is only out for 4 weeks. If we were talking 3 months then why not, worst case scenario he'd get cut right away.
  11. The Bears though really don't like using the franchise tag, with good reason. Wouldn't go over well with Forte, don't want that dragging on the whole season. That'll get done.
  12. I think Biggs hits the perfect tone here. Edit: of course, one thing left unwritten is that "If other teams thought Webb was a left tackle, he wouldn't have lasted to the 7th round".
  13. If Forte was running behind an above average offensive line in any of the last 3 years, what kind of numbers would he have put up?
  14. Originally Portage, IN, now Knoxville TN.
  15. Last year? Not a chance in Hell.
  16. Taylor can still be a roster casualty. No reason to dump him just yet right, maybe he comes out in game 2, rushes for 75 yards and someone offers you a 7th rounder for him.
  17. Which is easier if you haven't had much practice, blocking or rushing? I'd expect that attacking the QB is easier..."See QB, make move, go for him". Much more of an individual skill thing. An effective line has to be a group effort, which means no one can make a mistake.
  18. Is there no clause in his contract asking him to represent the team well?
  19. No worries. I think you only copied a portion of the link from the suntimes page. It's quite a bit longer than what you have there. Run your mouse over this link and take a look You can also replace the "Visit my website" option
  20. Feel free to ask if you have further questions.
  21. Link as requested. Look for the "Green arrow" button at the top of the post window as you're typing it, that's how you insert a link.
