  1. Let's say Phillips isn't there at 14, and Otah has a good combine, but not what many expect, therefore, we are turned off by him at 14. I think we should then trade our pick to a team in the 25 range, get their pick, and their 2nd round pick. We don't pick too well in the first round anyway, so then we'd have 1 1st rounder, 2 2nd rounders, and 2 3rd rounders- that's 5 picks in 3 rounds, including 4 picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, where we get our better players.

    Thoughts?

  2. the 2008 UK game will not be the Bears.

The home team will be either the Bucs, Saints, Seahawks or Chiefs. It can't be a team in the same conference, so our only chance would have been the Chiefs, but we're not playing them.

just worked out who the opponents could be based on next years schedules and the possible match ups are:

If Bucs, could be against Raiders or Chargers

If Chiefs, could be against Bucs or Saints

If Seahawks could be Patriots or Jets

If Saints, could be Raiders or Chargers

    :sleep

  3. If we make some pick ups in Free agency we can go in different directions at number 1. We dont have a WR on this team in fact the number one FA WR is coming from our team. If we get OL help in free agency then i dont want us picking a OL in the 1st round, we can get better value at other positions. I might be wrong but i dont think theres that many Free agent OL who were big busts.

Exactly. If we get Faneca, then I think we go Kenny Phillips or QB (Woodson or Brohm) at 14. Then, with our 2nd pick, we go OL, and with our 1st 3rd round pick, we go OL. If we take Phillips with pick 14, then with our 2nd 3rd rounder, we go Flacco, or another QB. However, if we go QB at 14, then we go S or WR at this pick.

  4. Like whoever posted this said, Dvoracek and Tommie could be a great tandem at DT. Let's hope Tommie and Dusty will both be 100% at season's start. If we can go the whole year w/o any huge injuries, such as 4+ weeks a player being out (*cough* Mike Brown *cough*), then I think we have a good chance of going to the Super Bowl. Oh, and don't forget an OLine.

  5. Hey Terra, I'm only gonna tell you this once, and if you don't get it, it's hopeless. The most import position in all of football is the OLine. Think about it, you CANNOT do anything without an offensive line. With no offensive line how is anything supposed to happen? OLine make things happen. And while yes, there has been some busts on the OLine, that doesn't mean they shouldn't be taken early. OLinemen, believe it or not, do have talent. I think it takes some talent to be 300+ lbs and have the type of quickness and athleticism some of these OLinemen have. Just look at the Browns, they went from garbage to one of the better teams in the league due to the complete overhaul of their line.

By the way, Gallery and D'Brick might not be the elite prospects we thought they were when they first got drafted, but Gallery, while is a bust, has turned into a solid linemen. And D'Brick isn't a bust, he is still one of the better LT in the NFL. Just because he isn't elite doesn't make him a bust. I'd gladly have him as our LT. One guy doesn't make an OLine.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Cheers to you, my friend. :headbang :cheers

  6. Offensive lineman may not be exciting to draft but they can have just as big an impact as any other position and that is where the Bears need the most help. With the exception of Phillips falling to us I think O line should be a slam dunk pick.

Too bad he won't get by Carolina at 13. :crying

  7. Yeah, by all means, lets draft some more "playmakers" who will be a waste behind the worst line in the league.

We have talent. We just can't give them time to do anything.

    DRAFT O-LINEMEN

Exactly! Let's get Brian Brohm after no OL in FA and watch him go out and throw 20 INTs and 8 TDs.

  8. I agree with the Phillips part, but the rest is garbage. Why no OL? It's clear that is this team's biggest weakness, and that with our first 4 picks, 2 of them should be OL (the other 2 should be WR and QB).

  9. This trade with the Bills, no. But I trade with a team like Jacksonville would be nice. We'd get the 26th pick (approximation there) and then their 2nd round pick. With that, we could take Otah, if he doesn't get selected by Detroit at 15, and then we can take Hardy, or another big time WR, with our first 2nd round pick, then another OL with our second 2nd rounder. :headbang

  10. I believe that the best player available at that draft spot should be taken. No matter what. Now if the best player available happens to be an O-lineman then by all means go for it. Or QB or RB or Safety. I would hate to see the bears pick some guy who is worhty of a mid twenty spot at best at 14, and then pay him 14 money. If the guy you want isn't the best player when your number comes up, then trade down to when you think he will be the best player available and try to get something else in the deal. Just look at Miami last year. Ted Ginn was not a top 10 pick. If they wanted him so bad they could've traded down a couple of spots and still gotten him. But now they are paying him top 10 pick money and I don't think he is worth it yet.

Exactly, which is why I think if Kenny Phillips magically slips by New Orleans (may get by them b/c they may go CB), Denver (may get by them b/c they may go DE or DT b/c their run D is horrible), Cincy, Buffalo, and Carolina (don't follow those teams too closesly, but I'm sure a stud safety couldn't hurt) then I'd love to see the Bears take him. He is an absolute monster back there in the secondary and I was reading somewhere that compared guys in the draft to current/former NFL players, they said Phillips reminds them of John Lynch and Sean Taylor. If he's there, I'd be all for that pick.

With that, we could go OL with 2nd round pick and our first 3rd, and then go Flacco with our 4th pick (actually our second 3rd rounder), or an OL with our 2nd, WR with our 3rd, then Flacco.

    So maybe something like...

    1. Kenny Phillips, S, Miami

    2. Gosder Cherilus, OL, Boston College

    3. Barry Richardson, OL, Clemson

    4. Joe Flacco, QB, Delaware
