Great points Tom... I was going to state the old Mark Twain comment..."There are lies, damn lies, and statistics..." Which I think still holds true...but I just couldn't remember Rex having that high of a rating. He has been figured out. Granted, all QB's tend to make some mistakes when pressured. However, Rex makes the enormous blunders, whereas a Manning or Brady will make small errors. I really hope Kyle gets the nod and we can finally see what he can do after a few years leaning and being with the first team.

C'mon... Besides the the size,etc...there's the intangibles. Butkus was overloaded with them. He was a intimdator, a vicious tackler and a smart field general. Url and Butkus are very different. I'm not sure you'd want to go with a cover 2 with Butkus. Heck, I don't really even want us to be a cover 2 team! When Chicao was here, we mixed it up more and got better results.

Could very well be... They are all very different eras... You used to be able to clothesline guys, bump WR's, etc...now it's all quite different.

I understand...but since when has govt made anything better? When they get involved things tend to go awry... I think the NFl should police itslef. If the fans don't think they are doing a good enough job, they will go to other sports. I do follow your point on gambling,etc...then the trade commission should be involved. But at this point, I think it's simple grandstanding.

I've cared about it as well ...since day one basically. I like fair competition. I think Goodell should have been tougher on the Pats/Billichik, but I'm OK with it at this point. The NFL needs to police itself. Congress should stay out. They F up too may things as is...and we have far bigger problems. If the NFl can't police themselves well enough, fans will leave the sport.

Benson does have a chance...but so do I of winning the Lottery. I think 1-4 are on the team, the rest are IR'ed... Maybe Lawerence gets cut.

Disregarding how we open, but thinking in terms of how the season will play out... The starts I think will be Booker Hester Bradley Next are: Lloyd Davis Hamilton or Bennet The rest hit the IR...

Now that's just thinking logically! The Bears' braintrust tend not to do that...

I blame the coaching. It took them forever and a day to get him involved, and still didn't involve him much. Other than one drop I recall, he did really well. I only imagine him getting better. But the coaches (Turner) need to get their heads from out their ends...

I don't think we're 25th... But I don't think we're much better than 18th. We look like a .500 team I think. Too much rests on a very suspect offense.

I think you and I are on the same page regarding the re-signings! I think you're a little off on your Gould assessment though. The kid is money. When the game is lon the line, he hits it everytime. He is super consistent. Morten Anderson never had a crazy big leg...but he was super steady. That's what we need from a K. We don't need a HR...we need base hits. We have Hester for the HR's!

We'll see. PLanning and doing are 2 different things. And if he does, he still stikes me as a guy who will be keeping in shape,etc... Odds are he will be starting in game 1 this season regardless.

I hear you and I remember reading your post about how nice is mom was as well... However, my buddy's mom is super nice too...but when he acted like a Bozo...there was only so much she could curtail. He's a great guy...just got over the top after too much booze. So, I make no assumptions when friends or family are used as character witnesses per se... If he didn't have a boatload of hotties and buddies, and it were just his mom and his grandad or something...I'd feel diffferently. But, I thik there is certainly room to question...

Chiefly, I would like to extend Hester. I know he wants to be paid like a WR...but I think if we strike now and get him signed for a lot more than he is now, but much less than a TO per se...we could lock him up at least for a few more years. I really think he is special and could be the brand image of the team depending on Urlacher's health and contract issues. I also would like to see Tommie stay...he offers intangibles that the stats don't say. We need a solid young mainstay on the DL...and I think that could be Tommie. He's a professional through and through. He plays through injuries and is stellar off the field. I would understand letting him go if he wants the sky...but I really think he's worth the loot. Of course, much of this all depends on what we do at QB as well... It is all intertwoven... But, in a nutshell...I never want to see Hester in another jersey...and I really almost don't care what it takes to get that done. He is beyond special... Anderson can come or go...and Urlacher is signed in my opinion with a fair upgrade on the table. He can take that or leave it and retire. But he will at least go out as a Bear then.

This is indeed great news! Now, on to more extentions!
